2013 FIVB U23 World Championship - Mexico - 05/10

  • Is this competition for players born 90 and younger or 91 and younger? If it's for 90 and younger I can only imagine Serbian team - Rasic, Veljkovic, Ninkovic, Radenkovic, Mihajlovic, Malesevic, Bjelica, Rosic, Malagurski and so on :cheesy: . Probably players that already play for senior national team won't play but I think that this team is currently the best in this generation in the world

I don't know if Turkey will participate to this tournament but Turkey might be as strong as Serbia if all the players who are eligible would play ;)

S- Naz Aydemir-Asuman Karakoyun (Both are starter setters of the best two clubs of best league in Europe )
    Opp- Polen Uslupehlivan -Ceren Kestirengöz
MB- Büşra Cansu -Melis Gürkaynak -Özgenur Yurtdagülen
OH- Ezgi Dağdelenler-Ezgi Aslan- Cansu Çetin- Şeyma Ercan
    L- Gizem Örge

On the other hand I accept the fact that your team would have best MB duo at this generation :win:

  • I looked for Polish girls from 90' and younger, unfortunately Poland hasn't many stars here :( in NT there were Wołosz, Tokarska, Martałek and Polak. Only Wołosz played a bit more. Many league and NT players are a bit older: 25-29 years, younger girls are more often on benches.

    Probable roster:
    S: Joanna Wołosz, Emilia Kajzer
OP: Zuzanna Czyżnielewska, Iga Chojnacka (also OH)
MB: Monika Martałek, Maja Tokarska, Sylwia Pelc
OH: Patrycja Polak, Katarzyna Bryda, Anna Grejman, Natalia Kurnikowska
    L: Dorota Medyńska

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • I think it´s for players born since 1991. Brazil can make a good team for this competition, but probably not the strongest. I think we´ll have the U20 team + older palyers:

    Setter: Ju Carrijo, Priscila Heldes
MB: Ana Beatriz + 2 of the U20 team (Milka? Valquiria?)
OH: Rosamaria, Gabi, Ellen Braga, maybe Samara? Glauciele?
    OPP: Sara Dias. Maybe Stephanie?
    Libero: Ju Paes

Great team! :super: Gabi, Ellen, Rosamaria and Bia rocks... :dance6:

  • In Europe won't be qualification Tournaments. CEV will choose 2 Teams- 2 Best from Junior-Youth Ranking or 2 Best from last Junior Champs.

  • U23 roster of Turkey:

    S- Asuman Karakoyun-Gamze Alikaya
    Opp- Dilara Bilge-Gözde Yılmaz
MB- Neive Büyükbayram-Özgenur Yurtdagülen-Dicle Nur Babat
OH- Fatma Yıldırım-Birgül Güler-Ezgi Aslan- Cansu Çetin
    L- Serpil Ersarı

Also Hazal Selin Uygur (MB/OH-1992), Buse Kayacan (Libero-1992) and Nursevil Aydınlar (Setter-1995) will be with the team in the case of injury.

Naz Aydemir, Büşra Cansu and Polen Uslupehlivan will be with A team although they are U23. Other prospective players, Ceren Kestirengöz is still recovering from her knee injury  Melis Gürkaynak, Ezgi Dağdelenler, Gizem Örge and Cansu Aydınoğulları are out due to trainer's choice, which deserved a chance in NT more than the ones currently in the camp  Still it seems pretty good roster. Only problematic position is OH which all players are short (between 180-183) Any info about Italian roster? They might be a tough opponent if they participate with full roster :box:

    No Glauciele :wall:
Gabi (sollys) can be more usefull...
IDK about Stephanie, but Domingas can be in her place

  • Is this tournament official?
There's no qualification system, no host city, no date, no month. The only thing we know is that it will be this year and Mexico will be the host country but nothing more

  • I guess the roster of China:

    1. Junior China NT

    2. involve 23: (14 people)

OH - Hui Ruoqi (91), Liu Xiaotong (90) Li Jing (91) Zhu Ting (94) Yang Jie (94) Liu Yanhan (93)

    OP - ?

    S - Yao Di (92), Ding Xia (90)

MB - Qiao Ting (92), Zheng Yixin (94) Wang Ning (94) Li Weiwei (94)

    L - Shan Danna (91) Huang Liuyan (94)

if not involved, OH - Fan Linlin (91), S - Cheng Long (93)

possibily, 12 people - cut Liu Yanhan and Huang Liuyan.

My favourite roster of Chinese (in 2022)
    male NT:
    S - Yu Yao-chen, Chen Lei-yang
OP - Jiang Chuan, Dai Qing-yao
    OH - Zhang Jing-yin, Yu Yuan-tai, Liu Li-bin, Fu Hou-wen
    MB - Zhang Zhe-jia, Peng Shi-kun, Li Yong-zhen, Jiang Zhen-yang
    L - Yang Yi-ming, Yang Tian-yuan

    female NT:
    S - Yao Di, Diao Lin-yu
    OP - Gong Xiang-yu, Sun Xiao-xuan
    OH - Li Ying-ying, Wang Yi-fan, Wu Meng-jie, Zhuang Yu-shan

    Date is 2-14th October.

  • this torunament is quite reduntant.

U23 Player can compete every 2 years at the University Games. And to make this competition in the year of the Universiade, it is more reduntant.

I don`t understand the sense of this competition.

Why not an U25 or U27 World Champs?? :sos:

Not all volleyball players are educating in universities, for instance most of volleyball players in Turkey does not continue their studies in university ;) I think it is good to let young players to get international experience. After finishing junior level some players can not find a chance to prove themselves. In Turkey, among 1990-1991 generation, Naz Aydemir, Büşra Cansu and Polen Uslupehlivan managed to reach A team level whereas Asuman Karakoyun, Neşve Büyükbayram, Dilara Bilge, Gözde Yılmaz and Serpil Ersarı need international experience although they are in same age. Indeed, it would be better to expand the participating team number so that many teams's youngsters can benefit

  • U20 is for players born after 1994, so I guess U23 would be for players born after 1991.

And I don't think we should send our A Team players, they're tired already. We should select an eligible squad from the rest.

OH: Li Jing (91), Zhang Yichan (91), Fan Linlin (91), Wang Qi (93)/ Pi Yanchi (93)

OPP: Tang Ningya (94), Wang Huimin (92)

    S: Zhao Jingxue (93), Liu Meiling (91)

MB: Yang Zhou (92), Zhang Xiaoya (92), Liu Peixin (93), Wang Ning (94)

    L: Lin Li (92), Huang Liuyan (94)

  • I agree about that it must be 1991 and younger but our U23 team also include players from 1990 generation
