  • German roster for qualification tournament:

    S: Irina Kemmsies, Luisa Sydlik
OH/OPP: Julia Schäfer, Lene Scheuschner, Luise Wolf, Steffi Martha Kuhn, Sophie Schubert, Annegret Hölzig, Hanna Orthmann, Kimberly Drewniok
MB: Wiebke Silge, Marie Schölzel, Pauline Kunkler
    L: Michelle Petter, Claire Bertram

Captain Steffi Kuhn is still in the playoffs with Dresden so she might not play the tournament. From last year's roster are missing MB Nadia Jäckle and OH/OPP Josephine Dörr (knee injury).
Best players are Kemmsies, Silge and Schäfer who regularly got to play in 1st league in Münster this season. Another interesting player is 15 year old Hanna Orthmann (born October 1998 ), she was MB until last year and is now converted to OH, she is supposed to be another big talent.

Almost all players come from the four big volleyball schools in Germany (Dresden, Schwerin, Berlin, Münster) or are about to leave their original club to go to one of those schools. VCO Berlin will play in 1st league next season again.

  • Turkish roster for qualification tournament:

    Setters: Arelya Karasoy-Sıla Çalışkan
    Opps: Pelin Aroğuz-Mislina Kılıç
    OHs: Rida Erlalelitepe-Ada Germen-Hümay Topaloğlu--Hande Baladin
MBs: Merve Çepni- Su Zent- Aybüke Özdemir
    L: Ayça Aykaç

Sıla Çalışkan, Aybüke Özdemir and Mislina Kılıç are newcomers. Among youth NT roster, missing players are second setter Cansu Özbay, second libero İlayda Bağcı and second Opp Buse Ene. Also Hande Baladin switch her position from MB to OH.

Pelin Aroğuz and Hande Baladin are the biggest prospects

  • Polish roster:
    S: Paulina Bałdyga, Karolina Szczygieł
OP: Malwina Smarzek, Aleksandra Wańczyk (also MB)
OH: Klaudia Grzelak, Kinga Stronias, Aleksandra Kazała
MB: Joanna Pacak, Kornelia Moskwa, Małgorzata Śmieszek
    L: Kinga Pasiut, Klaudia Kulig

Team is without OH, Magdalena Damaske who has arm injury. Other absent girls which played in U-18 WCH in Thailand are Karolina Piśla (OH), Justyna Antosiewicz (OP), Weronika Fojucik (MB) and Małgorzata Barszcz (OH).

  • Bulgarian roster :

    S: Elena Dimitrova, Mirela Shahpazova
    OP: Ioana Nikolova
OH: Gergana Dimitrova, Miroslava Paskova, Radka Dimitrova, Vangelia Rachkovska
MB: Elitsa Barakova, Ioana Atanasova, Radostina Marinova
    L: Zhana Todorova, Slavena Nikova

There are some very promising girls in this roster and some who will play in the women squad in European league. One of the most talented girls in the team is the captain Gergana Dimitrova, also libero Zhana Todorova is future libero of Bulgaria. Paskova and Rachkovska are also very perspective players.

  • Final German roster:

    S: Irina Kemmsies, Luisa Sydlik
OH: Sophie Schubert (Captain?), Annegret Hölzig, Luise Wolf
OPP: Nele Iwohn, Julia Schäfer (also OH), Hanna Orthmann (also MB)
    MB: Wiebke Silge, Pauline Kunkler
    L: Michelle Petter, Claire Bertram

I guess this as starting team: Kemmsies - Schubert, Hölzig - Silge, Orthmann - Schäfer - Petter

  • Is Radka also one of the Dimitrova sisters ? :what:

  • Slovakia had some good Junior generations in the last years and this year they get totally run over by Greece and Belgium :what: Anyone knows why they're so weak in this generation?

Poland surprisingly with some problems against Spain, I expected a clear victory.

Germany won easily against Israel, great performance by MB Wiebke Silge with 18 points (5 aces) and 11/14 in attack :super: 15 year old Hanna Orthmann is the other starting MB, our coach said she is a "jewel".

  • Spain lost 1-3 against Poland. Sara Esteban (1997, 186 cm, OH), the new sensation of spanish volleyball, did a great match: 20 points, 49% attack, 2 blocks, 1 ace. I hope she'll be considered for Senior NT as soon as possible.

  • Hande Baladin plays as MB again, at least in today's match, and she did very well with 80% in attack and 6 blocks. I'm not sure if it's a good idea turning her into OH considering that Turkey doesn't have many strong MBs...

  • Italy - Denmark 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-18 )

    Italy: Malinov 6, Nicoletti 11, Guerra 10, Grigolo 6, Bonifacio 11 (91%), Mabilo 6, De Bortoli (L)

    Italian roster

    S:
Ofelia Malinov ('96, 182) - very talented, she can play also Opp and Oh
Francesca Bosio ('97, 178 ) - from Busto Arsizio youth team

    OPP:
    Anna Nicoletti ('96, 190) - very talented, she was Diouf's back-up at U23 WCH

    MB:
Sara Bonifacio ('96, 188 ) - biggest talent of this generation
    Kadja Mabilo ('96, 183)
    Anna Danesi ('96, 194)

    OH:
    Anastasia Guerra ('96, 186) - very talented all-around player
    Laura Grigolo ('96, 184)
    Sofia D'Odorico ('97, 187)
    Elisa Zanette ('96, 190)
    Paola Egonu ('98, 189)

    L:
    Chiara De Bortoli ('97, 177)

OH Alice Degradi and Giulia Angelina are not here probably because Busto wanted to keep them in case of emergency during the Playoff Final.

  • German setter Irina Kemmsies dislocated her thumb today in 2nd set and can't play against Slovenia tomorrow.
Other than that, another great match by Wiebke Silge with 15 points (10/12 in attack) and today also Julia Schäfer with 19 pts and 56% attack was very good. I hope the team can beat Slovenia also with Sydlik as setter...

  • Hande Baladin plays as MB again, at least in today's match, and she did very well with 80% in attack and 6 blocks. I'm not sure if it's a good idea turning her into OH considering that Turkey doesn't have many strong MBs...

Hande is a great prospect, she is a very solid blocker. However, since she has very good technical capabilities, Eczacıbaşı doesn't want to waste her talent as only MB. That's why she has been trained for OH and Opp this season. You are right about that MB is our weakest point. Yet, we have good MB youngsters: Dicle Nur Babat and Özgenur Yurtdagülen from 1992-93 generation, Kübra Akman, Aslı Kalaç and Ceylan Arısan from 1994-95 generation. Moreover, from this generation, Aybüke Özdemir and Su Zent are very promising players. On the other hand, we don't have any promising OH candidate with good physique. Both Ada Germen and Hümay Topaloğluare short players whereas Rida Erlalelitepe is very bad at reception. From 1994-95 generation, Damla is not capable of playing in seniot NT. Only promising OH among youngsters is Seyma Ercan. Thus, I believe we will need good tall OHs more than MBs in a few years by considering upcoming players' level :S

By the way, Pelin Aroğuz is playing horrible, even against very weak opponents. Yesterday &30 today &19 at attack :white: She was supposed to be best Opp of her generation :wall:
