2014 CEV U19 European Championship - Estonia / Finland - 8/16

  • I didn't imagine Bonifacio is mulatto as well :D

  • Also Bonifacio played with 94-95 generation last year, but yeah here serdar was talking about Egonu.
Egonu is an OH but not the same type as Bosetti sisters. She is an offensive OH, 190 cm tall, very athletic, and she is black :super: Italy in a few years will have a strong half-black NT like USA and Brazil, thanks to the immigration of many African people here

Athletic skills and strength of African with Italian techniques, such a great combo

  • Italian best scorer against Poland was Paola Egonu who turned 15 years only four months ago :cheesy: She was born in December 1998 :what:
Btw Sara Bonifacio was awarded MVP of the tournament.

If Paola Egonu is playing ¿who is on bench?
¿Nicoletti, the best player of ITALIA YouthNT?

No, both Nicoletti and Egonu were simultaneously on court ^^ Nicoletti as OP and Egonu as OH, fortunately she didn't have to receive many b4lls (censorship  ) because Anastasia Guerra and Chiara De Bortoli were receivers, so Paola could focus on spiking and she was leading hitter there :teach:

  • It's time for next qualification round ^^ Poland will play in Pool I, in Moscow against Germany, France and Russia (host). Pool H will play in Thonex, competitors there are Switzerland (host), Croatia, Greece and Netherlands.

    Polish Roster:
    S: Paulina Bałdyga, Dominika Mras
    OP: Malwina Smarzek, Justyna Antosiewicz
OH: Klaudia Grzelak, Aleksandra Kazała, Kinga Stronias, Pola Nowakowska
MB: Kornelia Moskwa, Małgorzata Śmieszek, Joanna Pacak
    L: Klaudia Kulig

  • Is Damaske still injured?

  • Is Damaske still injured?

Damaske is after serious arm injury and as far as I know she may have undergone a surgery, so we should wait for her comeback ;(

Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • Thanks for infor. She was the best player of the champion youth team after Smarzek. Then, I assume Kazala and Grzelak will be OHs.

My guess for the last 3 slots are Poland and Greece as pool winners. One of either Netherlands or Germany as best second team. Indeed Germany has beaten Russia in the tie-break at youth level for 7th place matches and as host they might also beat Germany  If Polands would be the best team in pool I, its group will be very tough one in finals: Last champion Poland, last finalist Italy, 3rd one Turkey and 6th one Slovenia whereas in other pool there will be only Serbia and Greece as good teams

Includes some interesting changes compared with last qualification round :-)

Among starters only Schubert is missing right? Instead of her Kuhn is in, who indeed seems to be a better player

It's difficult to talk about "starters" in this generation because so far it has changed for every tournament. Michelle Petter who was the regular libero for the team has been replaced by the libero of the 98/99 team Sophie Dreblow who is in the 1st league team of Potsdam as well. She can impossibly be worse than Petter

  • Greek team without Strantzali,Psoma(the two main OH) and Konstantinidou(main setter). These girls decided not to participate to the tournamet. The greek federation ''sleeps'' as usual....Talented youth OH Fakopoulidou,Papazoglou and the usual suspect Vasilantonaki. We ''ll see..

Do you know what the reason was for absence of Strantzali? She was playing with senior team in European League, but not last two weeks. Might she left to USA already to join her college team? Do you know if she will be back for finals? She was the other half of this team with Vasilantonaki. :what:

  • Russia is first qualified team from this round. Tomorrow match Greece - Netherlands will determine last two finalists. It can be both teams from this game when Netherlands wins or loses 2-3, if Greece wins either 3-0 or 3-1, then Poland will be last team in finals :teach:

I think Poland is out in any case since Crotia will most probably win against Switzerland tomorrow, which will make their score 5 point with better set ratio than Poland. It will be a big surprise that champion of this generation as youth couldn't reach even finals as junior. Apparently Damaske's absence ruined team. Also their elimination group with Italy and now with Russia and Germany was a big unluck

  • After third round, final pool composition for U19 European Championship has been determined:

Pool 1 in Tartu (EST): Serbia (4), Greece (5), The Netherlands (9), Czech Republic (10), Bulgaria (18 ), Estonia (31)
    Pool 2 in Tampere (FIN): Italy (2), Turkey (3), Slovenia (6), Russia (8 ), Belgium (14), Finland (16)

The numbers refer to team's ranking in last youth ECh, which might be an indicator for their current strength. Biggest surprise is for sure the absence of Polish team who was the champion in youth ECH and 7th in youth WCh. Also Germany (7th), France (11th) and Montenegro (12th) are other absent teams from youth championship of this generation, which means we won't see talents like setter Kemmsies and MB Silge, OHs Cazaute and Fidon besides Opp Smarzek and OH Damaske. Candidates for semis are Serbia and Bulgaria from Pool I and Italy with Turkey from from Pool II. If Greek team would play real roster with Stranzali and Psoma, they would most probably will be in semis. Slovenia with their talented setter Eva Mori and Opp Nika Markoviç, will be underdog of Pool 2.
