Montreux Volleymasters 2014

  • Karg is better than Ssuschke now, no doubt about that for me. Weiss and Apitz for me are on an equal level with slightly different styles, so I think there will be no real "first setter" this summer.

i think you're unfair to Weiss all the time.. she is best German setter in/for important matches/tournaments for sure!

  • i mean Weiss with her decisive + stable game is clearly better than Hanke and Apitz...at least for now...

I agree about Weiss. She is not a special setter but her technique looks better to me than Apitz and Hanke though I would not compare their decisions.
About Kozuch, although she won MVP she is still not a convincing hitter to me.

  • Just a side note....Tandara injury was not serious. She is treating already and soon will be able to play again, she torn her ankle in the match against Russia...but had a minor problem.

  • My take on Kim Hill.
Because she is long and lean she probably will never be a power hitter
although when I watch Gabi from Brazil you wonder if she improved her mechanics
    that she might add power.

The mystique for Karch is could she develop into the ultimate complementary player. Can she become rock solid at reception? Her passing is already quite good for her size. Because she is lean and lithe she
can cover a lot of space and go to the floor in ways that the big power hitters
just can’t so you get a really good back row defensive player who can also hit
from behind the line when needed.

Her serving is strictly knuckle ball but she has good consistency and if she
continues to improve she adds a nice variation to the power servers. But if you could pair her with a big hitter
opposite like Destiny Hooker and a big hitting middle blocker than as a spiker
she would only have to be the third option.

Can she improve enough on her reception, digs, serves to overcome her
hitting deficiencies? Can she become that player who just doesn't make mental errors and is rock solid consistent at the small things. Don’t know enough about her drive to excel to say whether she
ends up key cog or just a journeyman but I can see why Karch might not want to give up on her too soon.

I do know that she was an all-American beach volleyball player at
Pepperdine. If all else fails I suppose
she could head to Korea for a little upper body work and then put on the bikini
and head for the beach. Would love to
see her teamed up with lilla Frederick again.

  • Congratulations to Germany women's national volleyball team for the championship of the tournament!

  • Thanks Tony! :drink:

That best blocker award would hopefully solidify Carol's spot in Brazil's NT. :flower: Hopefully Ze will invite Andreia on Grand Prix though...
