2014 Panamerican Cup

  • That must be a mistake! :aww:

Makes no sense to have point system if they take wins as first consideration than points..hehehehe

I guess they made a mistake in the table...clearly Peru must be ahead Mexico.

  • Any idea about why Bricio and Isiordia are not playing for Mexico? :teach:

  • Any idea about why Bricio and Isiordia are not playing for Mexico? :teach:

Samantha Bricio is not playing with NT because she will play with the All-star team of NCAA (http://pac-12.com/article/2014…tar-team-set-china-trip-0), but I hope that she plays Grand Prix and if Mexico qualifies to WCH she plays there too. Seomara Sainz and Samantha Bricio would rock together. :teach:

And Isiordia's case is a little uncertain, she played the mexican league and won Best OH award, but she didn't appeared on the national training camps. I think that she is on a NT break and will return soon. Any info about her I will let you know. :win:

  • Dominicana won 3-2 against PERU? Really? If i´m not wrong, Peru is performing pretty bad in the tournment and it is a very young team. I expected a 3-0 from Dominicana, because they played with Bethania and almost all their starting 6 player where in London.
Good to see Bethania again! The caribbeans really missed her in Montreux. She is such a spectacular spiker.
The final should be Domicana vs USA. And the caribbean should win. USA has a lot of rookies

I agree about your thoughts about who should be a final. Dominicans have half of their team from London in Mexico - Marte, De La Cruz, Arias, Vargas, Mambru and Castillo, adding Yonkaira Pena we have current starting line-up ^^ some of their bench players also have been playing in NT for few years like Binet or Fersola, bigger chance in last 2 years got Martinez and Pena, Angeles came back to NT from nowhere (last time in 2007-2008 ?( ) and newcomer is only Erasma Moreno (though she played few points in Yeltsin Cup year ago if I'm correct).
Dominican Starters are quite experienced players, but they still make too many mistakes.

It can be a problem for them to beat USA with their best line-up, something like that:
    Lloyd - Hood - Jackson - Faucette - Newcombe - Dixon - Hagglund (L)

Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • IMHO Webster is a better option than Faucette as right side spiker. :teach:

Throughout this tournament Webster is making good impression, performance in 4 matches overall looks that:
    Faucette 16/38, 6 faults - 42,11 %, 26,32% efficiency
    Webster 35/66, 9 faults - 53,03 %, 39,39% efficiency

Bare numbers also claim that Webster is doing her job better, I don't know what coach decides, but nominal the most experienced line-up on paper is still this from match against Argentina, including Fawcett, but I agree that she's not convincing OP and she's losing with Webster there ^^

  • Nice to read that Webster is doing a good job. Can't wait to see her play in Brazil :cheesy:

  • Webster should be in the starting line-up instead of Faucette for the rest of this tournament. She has made a strong case for herself in the last two matches.

Faucette scored many points in China because she was attacking on the left side (which is her most comfortable position) after Hodge was injured. Faucette is having to learn to attack on the right pin and is not doing well with USA's fast system. Funny thing is, Webster is having to learn to attack on the right side as well since she played on the left pin all throughout her college career, but she is doing a much better job.

Brazil fans will be excited to see Webster. She may remind you of Hooker, but Webster jumps higher and is a better blocker IMO. (She is also more humble and drama-free). Bailey is still learning to attack on the right pin and from the back row but she has already shown good potential in this tournament. She will be behind in her floor defense though because she was subbed out in the back court by a defensive specialist in college. But I am sure she will only get better playing in the Brazil league.

IMHO I think she will make the 2016 Olympic roster, though many will disagree with me. As of now, the only players ahead of her that are currently training with the US National team are Kelly Murphy and Nicole Fawcett, and I think she will surpass Fawcett soon. If and/or when Hooker returns to the National team, I actually think the two Opposite spots for the Olympic roster will go to Hooker and Webster.

Vargas is still 14-year-old girl and she's among best players here  I hope she can play it on similar level during WGP

These rankings are another proof that Bailley Webster is doing great job  maybe she's only 14th best scorer, but Faucette played some time and stole her some points

  • In yesterdays quarterfinals Velez with Cruz were main power and made huge effort in match Puerto Rico - Canada in winning battle after 3 sets.
In second game Argentinians were better than Cuba in 4 sets. Melissa Vargas in tight battle wasn't as effective as in previous games - only 34% spike and 10 faults  good performance especially by Boscacci and Fernandez was a key for win by Albi-Celestes.

  • there isn't a streaming of this match?there were streaming for all tournament and now for the semifinals ,nothing? :S on norceca twitter there isn't nothing :pinch:

  • USA won against Puerto Rico 15 20 17. Webster is top scorer with 16 points. Also 16 kill blocks for the USA team :obey:

I'm loving how Webster is playing. Since there is no sigh of Hooker going back to her old form, I'm satisfied if this young girl taking her throne plus drama free

I don't know what happened to the match of Dominican Rep.

  • Dominicans also won 3-0 (25-21 25-18 26-24)
De La Cruz with 52% spiking, while Mambru with 3 aces ^^ all Argentinian wing-spikers below 30% in terms of spiking, Nizetich didn't play at all :wavy:

Looking into stats USA - Puerto Rico we had quite low spiking % especially by Puerto Ricans, even Aury Cruz committed too many mistakes

  • Who do think will win USA or Dom? I like USA but I love De la Cruz

I always support Dominicans, but it will be a tough battle definitely ^^ they stil commit too many mistakes and it can spoil their result as usual
