2015 NORCECA Championship - Michoacan / Mexico - 9/25

  • If you do it the other way around, what's going to happen, is that you will have team fixing games to get the third place, and that way get a easier way to get a ticket to Rio.

That's does not make sense and it's not good for volleyball.

  • Yeah, but it is still like this, refering to FIVB page unfortunatelly. It says that 2nd team goes to Japan and 3rd to the other tournament :wall:

The information that i have is that....that is not going to happen as stated on that page.

that's the information we have so far for both men and women qualifying, which is why everybody is upset. so what is it that you know that other people don't? do you have a secret informer in the inside?

  • It does not make sense to reward a third place team, with an easy tournament, instead of giving that chance to the team that gets second place

    Don't you think so?

By logic thinking and based on merit, the easier tournament should go to the team earning the second place. Thus all the teams will race heartedly for the second place if they can't achieve the first one. This arrangement will avoid any foul play as well. The high individuals in FIVB must have "something else", I don't buy in they are somehow that "dumb" :wall:

That is going to be change during the meeting that they have scheduled for December, prior to the tournaments.

  • Even if it's true it doesn't make FIVB any less ridiculous, it just means they REALLY want Dominican Republic at the Olympics.

This nonsense type of comment does not deserve an answer

  • I'd be really surprised if rules will be changed during the qualification process. Even if i was really upset when the rules were released (because it clearly damaged Europe, support a weak team to qualify and promote fixing games, Norceca and CSV teams would play for be 3rd, and so on; it ll be even more shameful if FIVB changes the basis when the teams have already played a qualification tourment (as WC).
Of course, it 'd do much more sense to establish the qualification like this and reward the 2nd team. However, why would FIVB expect World Cup ends in order to change the rules? From the beginning it was more than obvious that rewarding the 3rd team from Norceca or Southamerica was stupid. Why would FIVB open the eyes just now? If FIVB wanted to changed the rules, it should have happened BEFORE World Cup, which, indeed, is the first step to Rio. I really dont think it is just a " mistake" with the rules because it clearly isnt. It isnt the FIVB journalist mistook in order to publish the olympic qualification rules in all the media. Rules, unfortunately, have been clear since May 2014.

If it would happen, it´d be just one more example of how FIVB doesnt care to be so ridicolously obvious to help some specific teams

  • Of course it's because of Dominican Republic, if it's true. It wouldn't be the first time either, what happened in 2004 was even more outrageous.

I would not be surprised if you are from Peru.. ha ha ha

  • In 2004 Dominican Republic "was invited" to South American Olympic Qualification Tournament after lose in NORCECA OQT because of 2003 Pan American Games Champion Title..
But still No 1 is situation from 2000 where Russia was invited to African Olympic Qualification Tournament lol lol

  • The reason why Dominican Republic was invited to the South American Qualification tournament was because the South American Confederation was not able to put together the tournament with at least four teams, as the Fivb rules stated.

Without a fourth team from another Confederation, the ticket given to South American was going to be taken away and give it to Europe.

That's why, the South American Confederation decided to invite Dominican Republic to complete the four team tournament.

Unfortunately for Perú, Dominican Republic won undefeated this tournament and went to Olympic Games in Athens. Since then Peruvians developed a lot of hate for the Dominican's volleyball team.

Too bad for them, because since then there has been a total domination of the Dominican's volleyball program, over Peru.

Two programs going on total opposite directions..........One up, the other one down, down, downer.......To the point that DR just one its first Gold at the Women under20 world Championship

WOW it's really bizarre to witness the "outsider guest" snatch the "food" away from the host continent teams :what:

Anytime RUS being invited to the Africa OQT they will be the clear Queen of Beauty there
