NEW: Swiss Volleyball League 2012/2013

    Bon WE.

  • Did anyone notice that the Teletext (now called Infotext, I think) on the french speaking swiss TV (TSR) was incorrect this weekend ? Amongst other mistakes, it gave Cheseaux as loosing 0:1 (yes, yes, I know) to Geneva, and in the ranking, the points went to Geneva... :wall:

  • This morning on my way to work, as usual, I took a bus in Geneva. I was quite surprised to see a promotional advertizing for Genève Volley on a Traffic Media Screen. It was an invitation to everyone to support the team at Henry-Dunant. The message was clear enough: ENTRANCE IS FREE.

So, please support Genève Volley and volleyball in general!!!

  • The stupidity of the program is pretty evident, BUT: Were they forced to do it? I don't think so. It is all their own fault. :wall:

Ann and Claire! Had you been told before the show that you would have to do a high five contest? Please say no.

  • VBC Biel-Bienne played its last game against VC Kanti Schaffhausen with only 2 foreigners. Olga Zheznyakova did not play. Is she injured or did she leave the club? I think she might have left because a press release in the Bieler Tagblatt talks about 2 foreign players from Serbia and Belarus. The coach also reveals that he’s testing new foreign players. A decision of recruitment should fall in the next weeks.

  • VBC Schaffhausen that is leading the East groug of NLB has very good chances to participate in the final round. As I know that some people of Schaffhausen are visiting the forum, I would like to ask them if they know what would happen if VBC Schaffhausen finishes first at the end of the season: “Promotion or not promotion to NLA?“ Well, I guess it’s probably to early to answer that question now.

  • At this point, it’s certainly difficult to answer that question categorically but which is, do you think, the best pool of NLB? East or West?

The West pool seems to be very balanced, maybe a little bit to much. The teams classified 3rd to 7th are namely separated by only 2 points. That makes me think that the teams are rather week and are not able to carry the upper hand on each other.

In the East group, things seem to be more definite. One team clearly dominates the pool. Then there are four followers and another three teams that fight against relegation. This configuration makes me think that the top teams of the East group are stronger.

    How do YOU feel it?

  • How do YOU feel it?

This is a good question, but unfotunately, the answer is impossible to give. In my opinion, the groups are very different from one year to another. In the past seasons, we have had more or less each time strong teams building sides to play in NLA : NUC, Bellinzona, VFM. I also notice that in the last 3 seasons, the 2nd of NLB beat the 9th of NLA !

And promoted teams have come more from the West than from the East : VFM, NUC, Düdingen, Genève Volley...

So - the real answer is impossible to give. One thing though is more certain : the Eastern groups of 1LN are stronger than the Western ones - at proof : The West group of NLB now goes as far as Obwalden ! Crazy...

  • A few weeks ago I made an overview on the clubs’ websites. Cheseaux’s one was the perfect example of things not to do. But since yesterday, I have to revise my comment. I’m not talking about a revolution but the website’s structure has been improved (what makes navigation much easier) and the new layout looks cool. Unfortunately, the content has not really been augmented and there’s still a lack of information (particularily press releases).

  • Politicians from the Left and the Right are wondering if they would not abandon the project of a new sports hall in Köniz. The building is estimated CHF 25 Million and the operating of the hall would cost every year another CHF 300 thousand.

That’s a very bad sign for volleyball and the development of Volley Köniz. Every professional sport needs decent facilities. It’s true for football. It’s true for ice hockey. So it must be true for volleyball as well.

  • This evening Genève Volley, that lost to Volley Köniz 1:3, played with only two foreigners. Lindsay Kearney is still injured but Jana Endlerová was matching the game from the grandstand. It seems that she has paid for the bad results of her team.
