NEW: Swiss Volleyball League 2012/2013

  • I just came back from Biel, where the local team was hosting Sm’Aesch Pfeffingen. Tonight, VBC Biel-Bienne probably played its best game since a long time. But finally Sm’Aesch Pfeffingen won the game 3:2 with a reduced roster (only 1 substitue). Geneva and Cheseaux might be in real danger if they’re not able to play better than they are.

  • I've seen also two games of VBC Biel-Bienne lately. The teams looks like it has improved a lot since the beginning of the season. And with all this young Swiss Players they still have probably a huge potential for the rest of the championship.

  • The drawing for the 8th finals of the Swiss Cup gave us a crazy game. Sagres Neuchâtel UC will namely host VC Kanti Schaffhausen. That’s for sure the highlight of the next round.

Two more games will oppose NLA teams. VBC Voléro Zürich looks up its partner VBC Biel-Bienne while FKB Volley Düdingen will be playing versus Hôtel Cristal VFM. This could be a hard fight.

Genève Volley is the lucky team since it will be playing versus VBC Schmitten (1st regional league).

Any NLA to NLB duels will be very interesting as well. One of the best teams in NLB, Volley Toggenburg, has a good chance to defeat VBC Cheseaux, one of the weakest teams in NLA. VBC Schaffhausen, the best team in NLB will do everything to sink Volley Köniz (NLA).

The games will be played on December 19th. Only one games takes place in the French part of Switzerland, i.e. Neuchâtel

  • Volley Köniz that cruised past FKB Volley Düdingen is promoted to the 2nd place. Sagres Neuchâtel UC that won to VBC Biel-Bienne can regret the 2 lost sets as the team also loses its 2nd place and is now ranked 3rd. Hôtel Cristal VFM downed VB Kanti Schaffhausen and takes 4th place. It's the 3rd defeat in 3 games for Schaffhausen that falls down to 6th place.

The teams ranked 2nd to 6th are very close to each other and every single lost set might have significant effect.

  • The famous Top Volley International tournament that takes place in Basel every year between Christmas and New Year will host some very interesting teams once again. The information needs to be confirmed but the teams might be the following:

    Voléro Zurich (http://www.volero.ch/001vol_0201_de.htm)
    Sirio Perugia[/b] (http://www.legavolleyfemminile…quadra.asp?IdSquadra=2579)
    Atom Trefl Sopot (http://www.treflsport.com/siat…ska/druzyny/Trefl_Sopot,5)
    TVC Amstelveen (http://topvolleybalamstelveen.nl/de-teams/)
Cuba (NT or club team to be defined?)
Brazil (NT or club team to be defined?)

So don’t forget to go to Basel from December 27th to 29th, 2010.

  • Today I have been browsing trough several volleyball agencies websites. On one of them I saw that message: "We are looking for a strong girl 1990 1991 or in the absence of proposal for that years, we would consider also players older but not over 30 positions Middle Blocker/Opposite to League in Swiss".

Is Genève Volley finally trying to replace Jana Endlerová? Is it Sm’Aesch Pfeffingen that maybe wants to replace Indira Mestre that has never played so far? We’ll see by the end of the year.

The concerned agency provides particularly players from Eastern countries and Brazilian players as well.

One player represented by that agency, Renata Schmutz, plays for FKB Volley Düdingen and an other one, Kerley Becker, has been recruited by Sm’Aesch Pfeffingen.

  • TVC Amstelveen (http://topvolleybalamstelveen.nl/de-teams/)
Cuba (NT or club team to be defined?)
Brazil (NT or club team to be defined?)

Brazil: Volei Futuro (a new Brazilian team) with Paula Pequeno, Joycinha, Fabiana, Stacy Sykora and Alisha Glass.
TVC Amstelveen is not a 100% correct. They announce a Dutch All Star Team with several National Team Players.
The 6th team was supposed to be Racing Club de Cannes, but they withdrew. We heard some rumors about a Cuban All Star Team.

It's quite possible there will be a kind of Dutch All Star Team....

    1. there are some NT-players not playing in a clubteam (Grothues, Dijkema, Schoot, De Kruijf)
    2. Current TVC Amstelveen-team is far too weak for this tournament.

So it could be a mixture of both. :teach:

  • That's very, very hot news. U.S. middle blocker Stefani Eddins is Biel’s new recruitment. She will be ready for the next game vs. VBC Cheseaux this upcoming week end.

Last season she was playing in the Spanish Superliga 2 with Algar and the season before with Liiga Somero in Finland.

  • The Czech player Jana Endlerová that had been fired from Genève Volley a few weeks ago, has joinded Sm’Aesch Pfeffingen. She has played her first game last week-end against Hôtel Cristal VFM.

  • There's a rumour abroad that Genève Volley might be connected with a Romanian player. A new recruitment would be very helpful for the important upcoming games versus VBC Cheseaux and VBC Biel-Bienne next year.
