On this site you can find a link to watch the 2nd and 3rd set of yesterdays match VC Kanti Schaffhausen - Hôtel Cristal VFM.

VC Kanti Schaffhausen had to play this match without their Captain Grit Lehmann (knee problems). Here you can read a short interview from last week (german) with her about it: http://vckanti.vvf.li/media/fi…in-der-Startformation.pdf
But Jona Gudlaug Vigfusdottir did a good job in replacing her. Hôtel Cristal VFM will certainly have to play much better than this if they want to secure their participation in the Playoff Round.

The match in Zürich had to be canceled because of technical problems in Voleros hall:
    http://www.volleyball.ch/index…79c2c972c08818201b12833b8

How embarrassing! A new date for the match is not fixed yet.

    Ranking:

    1. Volero Zürich 15 42 (45:9 sets) (will start in Playoff Round with 3 points)
    2. Volley Köniz 16 33 (39:22 sets) (will start in Playoff Round with 2 points)
    3. VC Kanti Schaffhausen 16 32 (38:21 sets) (will start in Playoff Round with 1 point)
    4. Sagres NUC 16 30 (35:27 sets) (will start in Playoff Round with 0 points)
    5. Hôtel Cristal VFM 15 25 (29:24 sets) (will start in Playoff Round with 0 points)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    6. Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen 16 25 (29:28 sets) (will start in Playout Round with 3 points)
    7. TSV Düdingen 16 16 (21:37 sets) (will start in Playout Round with 2 points)
    8. Volley Toggenburg 16 7 (10:43 sets) (will start in Playout Round with 1 point)
    9. VBC Cossonay 16 3 (10:45 sets) (will start in Playout Round with 0 points)

The ranking of the Qualification Round is now clear. Apparently VFM has filed a protest because of what happened yesterday in Zürich, demanding a 3:0-forfeit-victory for themselves. But, whatever will be decided (forfeit or a new date to play this match), it won't affect the ranking anymore. The same 5 clubs like last season have qualified for the Playoff Round.

Edit: The canceled match Volero - VFM won't be played anymore, because it has become irrelevant for both clubs and for the ranking:

  • Calendar Playoff / Playout Round: http://www.volleyball.ch/index.php?id=schedule_1_f#c1032

Next Saturday the season 2012/2013 will continue with the start of the Playoff/Playout Round.

    Starting Ranking Playoff Round:

    1. Volero Zürich 0 3
    2. Volley Köniz 0 2
    3. VC Kanti Schaffhausen 0 1
    4. Sagres NUC 0 0
    5. Hôtel Cristal VFM 0 0

The two best ranked teams after the Playoff Round will compete in a best-of-five final to become Swiss Champion. The 3rd and 4th ranked teams after the Playoff Round will compete in a best-of-three for the bronze medal.

    Starting Ranking Playout Round:

    6. Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen 0 3
    7. TSV Düdingen 0 2
    8. Volley Toggenburg 0 1
    9. VBC Cossonay 0 0

The 9th ranked team after the Playout Round will have to play against the 3 best teams from the NLB (2nd highest league in Switzerland) in a promotion/relegation Round. But this seems to me quite unlikely to happen in this way, because it's uncertain if there are any teams from the NLB which are willing or able (economically) to play next season in the NLA.

As i don't expect Swiss Volley (our federation) to change it's "near-zero" information policy concerning the league matches (surprises would be very welcome), i will try to edit the posts (whenever it's possible) a few days later with some additional infos to the Playoff Round matches using the "unofficial" (but, as it seems to me, trustworthy) infos (MVP's, maybe points per player) from some of the Club-Websites. But don't expect too much.

  • News: Volero Zürich 2013/2014

Volero Zurich is preoccupied with the building of the team of the future. With the Cuban Nancy Carrillo de la Paz and the 18-year-old Croatian Karla Klaric the Zurich club took two athletes before one or two seasons for several years under contract. Along with the extension of the contract with the reigning European champion Nadja Ninkovic the seven-time Swiss champion has laid an important foundation for the squad for the next season.

Zurich 14, January 2013 - The 21-year-old Serbian national team player Nadja Ninkovic signed to Volero Zurich for two more years. Nadja Ninkovic joined in fall 2011 as a great young talent to the Zurich team. In the two seasons 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 - the first time outside of Serbia - the 193cm big athlete has developed into a important player of the Swiss champion. Nadja Ninkovic is since 2008 member of the Serbian national team. In September 2011 she won with the Serbia national team the gold medal at the European Championship in Serbia and Italy. In 2009 she joined with Serbia, the CEV European League for the 1st Place now and has been named best Blocker of the tournament. In summer 2012, she won the bronze medal with Serbia in the CEV European League. "I am very grateful that the club management of Volero Zurich has confidence in me, because I get the chance in the next two years as a player again to move one step forward," said Nadja Ninkovic about the renewal. "The club pursues in the future, especially in the Champions League again higher goals and I want to contribute to do so."

    Carrillo continues in Switzerland
The Cuban world-class player Nancy Carrillo de la Paz, after her short-term return from Russia in Volero Zurich showed since the beginning of the season a strong development. At the Women's Top Volley International in Basel, the diagonal player has shown a great tournament and comeback on the world stage with impressive attack stats . Volero Zurich plans with the world championships and Grand Prix award winning International in the coming season. "We will build the team 2013/2014 with Nancy Carrillo as one of the key players," says President Stav Jacobi. "She has shown at the end of this year's Champions League campaign that she can lead a team to the playoffs in the future."

Long-term contracts in the Education Club
The only 18-year-old outside hitter Karla Klaric the Zurich club has taken two years ago under contract. After playing the majority of last season with the second team of Volero Zurich, the Croatian has now prevailed in the NLA. The cooperation will be valid for another three seasons. "Karla Klarics potential we have already seen, as she played with 16 years in Mladost Zagreb," says President Stav Jacobi. "With the next three years of education at Volero Zurich, we hope that Karla will follow an equally successful way as Brankica Mihajlovic "

Here you can find the original text (in german) from Voleros Website: http://www.volerozuerich.ch/de…stein_fuers_team_20132014

I'm surprised about Carrillo staying in Switzerland. I hardly can imagine that there aren't any top clubs offering big money to loan her from Volero? But still nine long months to go until the start of the season 2013/2014  We will see. ;)
