Münster beating Vilsbiburg 3:0 might look like a surprise, but I expected this (not necessarily 3:0 though...). Without Hagglund, Miyashiro, Mesa and Bartsch Vilsbiburg is missing some of their best players, while Münster has been the surprise team of the season so far. No big stars, but great teamwork, fighting spirit and a very interesting style of play with many unusual elements (for example, when the opponent plays a free ball towards the setter von Piekartz, she sometimes sends it directly back towards the corners of the opponent court and most of the time it's a point).
Thüringen with the first victory of the season, and slowly the ranking settles as expected, with Hamburg and Köpenick at the bottom.
I watched Potsdam - Wiesbaden, it was not a high level match but certainly an exciting one. Without Radosova, Potsdam's reception is a mess and Rivero is the only remaining player who can kill balls. Jelic should seriously consider turning into MB, her blocking is very good but in reception and attack she's hopeless. Potsdam's libero Lisa Rühl sometimes tried to cover more than half of the court alone but Wiesbaden always served to Jelic or Gründing. For Wiesbaden, I really like their young Finnish setter Alanko a lot :super: She's not doing anything spectacular, not trying magic tricks, but she distributes very well and most important, I don't remember any bad set from her, always very precise and good timing with the attackers. Another pleasant surprise was the performance of Veronik Skorupka. Last season in Köpenick she hardly ever got to play (and that team was a lot weaker than Wiesbaden now), but this season she has been doing really well so far. Yesterday she replaced Muijlwijk after a terrible first set and improved Wiesbaden's game a lot

  • Hey Matthias, what do you think will be the result of Wiesbaden versus Münster tomorrow?
I was a little bit surprised about the victory of Wiesbaden in Potsdam but have a good feeling that Münster can win in Wiesbaden. Do you think I'm to optimistic? :-)

I have seen that very much players of Wiesbaden are in the top 25 of serve statistic. So maybe the reception of Bathen and Dörendahl will be the key of the match?

  • If Münster can play on the level they had against Dresden, they certainly have a very good chance to win. I really enjoyed that match and it shouldn't have ended on 3 easy errors...
Potsdam had a VERY bad day against Wiesbaden, both setters and all three MBs were weak, without Radosova position 4 and reception doesn't exist, only Rühl and Rivero played normal. And still, Wiesbaden won only very tight and was convincing only in 2nd set. The key was indeed their serving, but any team could've served Jelic and Gründing off the court. All players of Wiesbaden were fairly solid, they didn't make many mistakes, but they did nothing special either, just waiting for Potsdam to help them.
Wiesbaden won't make it easy, but I really think Münster has good chances. If I didn't have a match myself tomorrow I'd even have considered driving the 1.5 hours to Wiesbaden to watch that match because it could be an exciting one...

Oh, good to hear. i didn't even know, that she is still playing professional. Brings back memories. She and Maggie Kozuch in the same youth squad. That was a good team :box:

  • WTF !!!! Referee makes huge mistake and gives 2nd set to Schwerin :hit: :hit: :hit: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: Attack clearly touched by Schweriner block :!: :!: :!:

I wonder what's wrong in Stuttgart again :what: Lauriane Truchetet wasn't with the team, apparently she got an injury during Wednesday match, but on the other hand, Stuttgart's super manager said in press that he's disappointed with her performance and they signed her because Gil Ferrer really wanted her, and now that he's gone they consider signing another setter :white: :wall: What a way to treat players!
And Svenja Engelhardt started in 1st and 3rd set but both times was substituted at 0:0. If it had happened once, I'd say the assistant coach wrote down a wrong number on the line-up sheet, but twice ?(

  • Rivero has great potential :drink: :drink: :drink:

    Only 18 yo... :white:
