In my opinion professional players should first concentrate on finishing their current season with the club and then talk to other clubs if they want to leave or the club doesn't want to keep them. Otherwise it can happen that they don't feel fully committed to their team anymore in the end of the season and that is very bad.
Generally, I agree. I have to say though that it works both ways. Management also have to be sensitive to players and not mess with their players' heads and atleast time contract discussions correctly or at least discreetly.
About the 'motivation' factor... I would be surprised if Vakifbank players do not have a clause in their contracts that gives sizable bonuses for post season success. In my experience, it is not unusual for top players to have that as a standard clause in their contracts. You would think that would go a long way towards ensuring players stay 'motivated' in the current season
