World Tour 2014

  • CBV decided to change the rules to reach an agreement with players. From now onwards, players are able to choose their own partners. The staff won't bother them at this anymore. Nevertheless, the staff will take the pairs they want to the World Tour. No rank will decide like till London 2012 but staff, according to their own thinking.
This is what was already happening on the male's side, in an informal way though. It's not the best option in my book, but we can say that's better than past rule. I can see a progress here. :win:

  • Fuzhou Open (23-27 April)
    Final 1st place
    Juliana/Antonelli [BRA] 0-2 Walsh/Ross [USA] (11-21, 18-21)
    Final 3rd place
    Maria Clara/Carol [BRA] 0-2 Xue-X. Y. Xia [CHN] (19-21, 18-21)

    Ranking
    1. Walsh/Ross [USA] - 500 points - $11,000
    2. Juliana/Antonelli [BRA] - 450 points - $8,000
    3. Xue-X. Y. Xia [CHN] - 400 points - $6,000

I wasn't following the tournament to comment upon it.
There's only 2 things I'd like to point out.
Firstly, the great comeback of Walsh. I think this pair has still a lot to pick up and I'm glad to see them back to this season pulling off a win in the first World Tour competition.
Lastly, the second place to Juliana's pair. It's just the first tournament she takes after a long time away and she's grabbing a second. :super:

Does anybody know what's going on in Italy regarding Cicolari's case?

  • Big congrats to Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst.
They are winning their first title in Shanghai :cup:

For Laura Ludwig it is her first title at all, after having lost 9 finals before. Well deserved for one of the best players on tour

  • New Chinese Power borned in Shanghai?

    Wang Fan - Yue Y.

    Some infos about Them?

  • Larissa is planning a comeback. She wants to team up with Talita. In my opinion, she's trying to find a mate similar to Juliana, a solid blocker most specially.
According to several newspapers, a big ask is hanging over CBV. What about Taiana? She nailed the World Tour past seaon. Is that fair?
We'll have to wait for further informations. It's going to take a while.

Congratulations to Laura and Kira for the big win in Shangai! :cup:
Laura is one of the most respectable players in the Tour. Happy for her! :drink:

  • According to globo.com, the beach volleyball system created by CBV just after the Olympics was imploded. The system was sponsored by the government. The contract signed is over and it seems that won't be renewed.
It means that, after all, we are back to square one. The pairs and everything will work like it was until London.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. :aww:

  • Larissa and Talita are livening up the tour. They match pretty well and yet come together fine. :drink: Maybe Lili should consider getting pregnant instead of her. :D
Larissa is a bull guard in the backrow.
