REQUEST: World Men's Club Volleyball Championship (Nov. 3-8, Qatar)

    It's a pity I won't be able to watch the games here in Doha live. I'll be flying for Egypt tomorrow, same day as the tournament's opening day. I HATE IT!


    I just satisfied myself by catching the training session of Poland's Skra in Al-Sadd Sports Club. Took some photos as well (will post them when I get back from my trip). They made some plays to make the newly introduced system (The Golden Rule) work for them. They played numberous combination plays from the backrow.


    Anyway, would there be anyone who can record and upload the games please? Especially matches of Russia (with Clayton Stanley and Lloy Ball), Italy, Egypt and Poland? PLEASE? I think it's gonna' be broadcast live by AL Jazeera Sports as they are sponsoring the event.


    I'm hoping they will hold the games again here next year.

    The game sure has become astrange like this. The middle blockers now almost never get to attack. And you can tell that, since the opposite was already the specialized player at hitting from the backrow, that he has become even more important. I must say, that I dislike this change. I do think it creates longer rallies. A lot more mistakes and blocks as well though.


    On a lower level, this rule will not be pretty either. Most people can't actually attack from the backrow.

    I agree. It's a bit of a novelty, and kind of fun to see now, but if the change were permanent I think it would be bad for the sport.


    1 meter really doesn't make a difference in the men's game.

    backrow attack rule makes middle hitting almost non existant. middles should be known as 'blocking specialists' if this rule stays... yikes

    FYI, the Golden Rule was formulated by a Qatari. Not a bad idea for an exclusive tourney, I think. Let's just take it as a "variety" of the game- like in cards or pool/billiard games. :)

    Yeah thanx dude, I loved watching Trentino, especially against Kazan, think they're pretty evenly matched. I agree with the fact that the middle hitters do nothing in attack. I don't think I saw Sala attack even once!


    It's cool to see that kaziyski can hit it high on the block, even as a backrow hitter. Damn, that fucker sure does have some power in him.


    Also really like Kazan's new outside hitter. Had never heard of him, but he has a sublime technique and a lot of power in attack and serving.

    i hate the golden rule,it's frustrating to watch players having the hardest time hitting from the backrow,they get frustrated instead of having joy while playing,and there's no more variation of plays coz quickers arent given much sets anymore and it becomes monotonous with only the outside hitters working for the team

    I agree. Though it's fun to watch just for once, but I hope that it will remain this one time only. I'm also not sure whether there actually are more long rallies. And the game become impossible to understand for people that don't play the sport.

    I"m going to upload the other games too....sad that Cimed could not showed their best, they made to many mistakes...and I agree with you, this new rule didnt help at all, cause Cimed always plays a lot with middle players, is Bruno best ball and safe ball too in this team, so, they lost a lot with new rule.
