Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Maren Brinker leaves Schwerin and goes to Canakkale in Turkey (6. of championship, will likely qualify via "Balkan cup" for Challenge cup anyway).

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Quoted from "MariaOzawaFan" Quoted from "StefanS" Wanna Buakaew leaves Stuttgart and returns to Bangkok Glass in her home land. What a shame. I really liked her. Yes, she was good in every regard. But in Bangkok she will have less load then in Stuttgart, and this may have been the main reason for the decision.

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

For some reason the Palmberg Arena, used in the past for the CL, seems to be no more sufficient for the CL nowadays Evers from Schwerin told a newspaper.

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "serdar" Eczacibasi will compete in CEV Cup next year so Schwerin won't be able to win that cup neither. Challenge cup is a joke, there is no point to compete there. I wish CEV would fuse CEV and Challenge cup and make one decent european cup instead. Yes, there were already plans to fuse CEV cup and Challenge cup, but than to my surprise first mode of CL was changed. I hope too, they will fuse the both competitions as planned a few years ago in not too far future.

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Quoted from "Matthias" Trouble in Germany...Schwerin refuses to play in CL for "financial and organisation reasons". Dresden wanted to play CL instead but as 3rd ranked team they are not allowed and have to play CEV Cup. Stuttgart could have played instead of Schwerin but also refused and plays CEV Cup. Schwerin is currently inscribed for Challenge Cup but applied for a free space in CEV Cup. Thus, for the 1st time since 2011, no German team will be in women's CL No, Stuttgart couldn't replace ...

CEV Champions League 2018

I found the page, where all the other fees are explained: https://www.worldofvolley.com/News/Lates…ons-league.html Should be possible to be found elsewhere in this forum, I guess. And this is more than I listed... But finally, Schwerin COULD finance it, if they really want. As Dresden did in the past 6 years, it was not always easy for them, by the way.

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "StefanS" Quoted from "rbdfabio" It sucks for the players, especially players like Lippmann, which can use CL to improve her game. But at the same time, the level of German teams is really not high and they will never win anything if they can not sign world class players. And paying money to just compete it is not necessary a smart thing to do, unless you have money sitting around....10.000 Euro per match for the challenge system? VOWW That is expensive. The same 10.000 Euro per hom...

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "Azvin" Not playing in CL is short-term thinking. It's a matter of investing. By not competing in CL the German league will find it increasingly difficult to attract top-quality foreign players and retain and develop top-quality domestic talent. The long-term result will be a much lower-quality league overall, and a lower-rated league--it's a self-fulfilling prophecy! Look, I understand it is an expensive process, but that's exactly why the VBL administration needs to find more ways...

CEV Champions League 2018

German champions (11 times meanwhile, best team there) SSC Palmberg Schwerin doesn't compete herein. And also neither vice champion Stuttgart nor third Dresden will play even qualification tournament for CL. Consequence for the competition will be like last season (when some Polish club didn't take part due to loss of much sponsoring money): Romanian champions Alba BLAJ will replace them as best league applicant without fixed CL group slot, they already signaled to participate in qualification, ...

2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

Quoted from "JoanaBG" Looking at the pool compsition again - how the hell did FIVB/CEV allow the draw to be so unbalanced? Pool F is a complete and utter joke. None of these teams could be ranked higher than 3rd place in pool C. Pool A is only slightly better. Russia, then huge gap, then Croatia, then another huge gap. Looking forward to Turkey vs Bulgaria, it should be a cracker. Pools D and E also promise some excitement. So far I know the European ranking list was used for setting the teams,...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Today the economic (first) step of licensing was published by VBL. Despite only 8 of 22 (including men's) teams got licenses without special obligations, all clubs of this league got the license in principle. Founding member of VBL USC Münster has to to some more work regarding the financial situation, the VBL licensing board was not fully convinced of their documents (!). All others were without major obstacles, including Erfurt, Köpenick and ironically also Suhl. Obviously this is pure formali...

2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

Quoted from "Sisko95" Zivkovic's serve really saved the 3rd set, Czech Republic could have taken it if they had a little more composure Since Helena Havelkova is not playing anymore for Czech NT, quality has decreased despite Michaela Mlejnková does a great job. And even without Milena Rasic and Maja Ognjenovic Olympic silver medal winner Serbia is clearly stronger.

2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

Quoted from "LLOYD" I think Russia, Turkey, Netherlands, Germany, Serbia, Italy, Bulgaria and Poland may take the ticket of WCH if Belgium will be lucky and maybe they can take one instead of these teams but it's unfair give a chance only 8 teams in EU at least they have to give a chance 9 teams from EU That's at least much better as for Olympics, where the qualification rules are a big disadvantage for European teams and reduce quality of Olympic competition.

Poland - OrlenLiga 2017/18

Quoted from "Phil" And she wants to play in staring-six. If I remember right, she got offer from Italy in 2015 (probably Busto?) but she had chosen Stuttgart. Interesting article about her motivation and decision to stay with Budowlani Lodz in this article, I could understand with help of google translate (decision of heart): https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/siatkowka/68…wala-sie-sercem

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Quoted from "Matthias" Quoted from "ThomasHH" Suhl are out http://1.bundesliga.vfb-suhl.de/vfb-91-s…-zurueckziehen/ They lack almost 100.000€ to be able to build a competitive team for 1st league, so they decided to withdraw. They complain about not getting enough help from the city which is very ironic because right now the city is lifting the ceiling of the hall where they used to play to make it finally high enough for 1st league Even the state of Thuringia paid a lot for this uplift of hall...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Quoted from "le coq gaulois" Quoted from "StefanS" I have entered the new players on first page on this thread - with now 10 players with contract already Wiesbaden is leading again alone in this regard and is missing at least one middle, maybe another attacker should join the group (a matter of money as always too). i dont know if everything is official now, but the roster is complete Annalena Mach has prolonged with Wiesbaden, as you can see on VCWiesbaden.de official website. Not yet entered...

Friendly NT Matches

I recognise there were several important players missing in the NT lineups: Renata Sandor at Hungary (probably not fully recovered from the hard German league season), Dora Horvath too (retired), and also no Kaja Grobelna with Yellow Tigers of Belgium. So we should not interpret results too far...
