2017 FIVB World League

Quoted from "Kaziyski" Quoted from "vabo" How much money did Slovenia and Estonia just throw away flying teams and staff around the world for nothing? Slovenia around 300 000$, Estonia around 100 000 Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" FIVB needs to sort this mess. I could see Slovenia winning the case considering the world league is part of the world rankings. Absolutely. And I can see the FIVB doing a damnatio memoriae on Slovenian volleyball for the next decade as petty revenge. Remember German...

The problem with promotions is that you automatically create the need to demote a team at some point, which is something the FIVB has been unwilling to do in the case of strong ($$$) federations. Let's be honest, some countries are too big ($$$) to be kicked out. No matter what a catastrophic year, countries like Italy, Brazil, Russia and Poland will never leave the first group, while the same rule doesn't apply to Bulgaria, Serbia, Argentina or Germany. Anyway I think we're wasting way too much...

2017 FIVB World League

What a mess The big issue is that there's no practical way of fixing the WL without some significant changes that will anger a lot of countries. Just like Tokyo 2020 fixed the World Cup disaster, something else will happen to fix the World League, again without any kind of real decision making by the FIVB.

To be fair, being a fan of Belgium men's NT for the last 10 years was nothing but torment. It was like the team enjoyed getting as close as possible to point 24, then throw everything away. It will take a while to get the fans back.

2017 FIVB World League

Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" Kurek should be OH. They need him to block Patch. Lomacz should start. I also agree that Antiga was never the problem. It all started when Italy defeated them in the world cup. Before that they were playing much much better and fluidly until that surprise defeat. They really need to get themselves out of the water they are in before they drown. Kubiak should stop treating his players as if they are babies to protect and learn to fend for themselves God I love Mi...

If there's no promotion then just let France win the whole thing. It paid off in Rio, didn't it?

I will never understand people trying to push Vettori over and over into the NT like he's some kind of rare flower ready to bloom. He played ONE great NT match (match, not even the whole tournament) in his entire life, that was 2013 ECH final Italy-Russia, and we didn't even win it. About this year's WL... I'm not really sure what France and Brazil are trying to accomplish. Let the young guns develop. If not now, when?

Glad I'm not alone on the Randazzo bandwagon. He aged VERY well. Iran on the other side looks like it's on a freefall back into relative irrelevance on the world stage. Shame to see so much wasted talent but there's only a limited number of coaches you can use and throw away before not a single good one wants to work with you anymore.

Iranian NT 2017

Quoted from "Kaziyski" Iran is looking tragic on European tour. I never saw them playing this poor, simply horrible. I'm already wondering is Kolaković good choice for them as level of game even in 5th match is pathetic. Any link for this event? First time I hear of it.

2017 - 2018 transfer rumours

Very well said, couldn't have found better words. This is the biggest risk of this new generation born and raised in the middle of the social age, it's so easy to completely lose focus and get distracted by nonsense. I hope he chose to move to Perugia because it's a better team that might help him grow... but I'm afraid the answer might be something else. I don't know, personally I would never quit a team where I'm in the starting six to move on the bench, wherever this bench might be. Even more...

Tokyo 2020 Qualification rules

So... its seems the FIVB found a way to finally promote merit over politics in the Olympic qualification process. Here's what I found on an Italian website, hopefully the FIVB will publish the whole thing in English soon. http://dal15al25.gazzetta.it/2017/05/09/…iche-del-volley (a.a) L’Fivb, riunita a Marrakesh (Mar), ha stabilito il criterio di qualificazione olimpica per Tokyo 2020. Rimane invariato il numero di squadre che saranno 12 sia per il maschile che per il femminile. Oltre al Giappone...

Makes perfect sense to me, it's time to let the youngsters grow and win some matches without Zaytsev saving the day everytime. 2018 WCH is just around the corner.

Italy – Superlega Unipolsai 2016-2017

Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" Btw. Is there any better italian libero than Bari that Perugia can buy next season? He was horrendous this season and probably the biggest reason Perugia lost so many matches against the other big 3 plus the big choke from Piacenza. I still don't understand they didn't give Tosi his chances to start as main libero. Is he injured or something? My thoughts exactly. He's been horrendous for at least 3 years.
