Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

Quoted from "Bayer" Also today United Volleys Rhein-Main (Frankfurt) announced Sebastian Schwarz (from Jastrzebski Wegiel, POL) as their new outside. Together with Lincoln Williams (AUS) now this roster looks quite competitive A real good transfer. The people there obviously know what they are doing. They will have again a good and interesting roster. I don't think they can challenge Friedrichshafen/Berlin but third place should be pretty realistic for them.

Men's World Championship 2018

Quoted from "Kaziyski" Another question that bothers me is where are Grozer and Schops? Instead playing for NT Grozer choose to take Qatar's money which is unacceptable IMO. Also Schops? Team captain is missing key matches after they've won bronze on last WCH? Where is logic in their absences? Well, i wished at least one of them would be in Belgium but i am not sure, considering their latest performances on NT, whether this would have changed much. I also find it difficult to make a moral judge...

Men's World Championship 2018

Well, i wasn't overly optimistic before the tournament, but still i hoped, that they could at least beat Spain..... Did not watch the match, so i can't go in detail here. But as far as i remember, I already wrote in 2016 NT thread that i wanted a new coach alreaday for 2016 season. And i think i am proven right here. You just can't change a teams' game style/mentality and additionally integrate young and inexperienced players in only a couple of weeks. Furthermore, the likes of Kampa/Kaliberda/F...

Men's World Championship 2018

Tomorrow, the battle for the last WCH spot in Belgium will start. Only the strongest survives.... http://www.cev.lu/Competition-Area/Compe…ID=976&PID=1525 Streams on laola will be available from Saturday on. EDIT: All Estonian matches are said to be streamed on this site: http://sport.postimees.ee/section/150 Compared to WL, Kaliberda and Kampa will come back to the german team. While this may add some individual quality, i still have serious doubts, whether this will be enough to win this tourn...

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

Quoted from "TheDiplomat" Lots of important players from last years teams missing. Where are: Mote,Mustedanovic, Kessel, Brinkley, and Ondrovic playing now? Mote got injured before last season and as far as i remember, his contract with Berlin was resolved. Since then, i haven't heard any news about him. Don't know either where Mustedanovic and Ondrovic will play next season. Regarding Cody Kessel, i expect him back in Lüneburg. They already announced during last season that they extended the c...

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

Quoted from "Bayer" Berlin Recycling Volleys (CL) VfB Friedrichshafen (CLQ) United Volleys RheinMain (CEV) SWD powervolleys Düren Düren will play CEV cup too..... Worth to mention is, that there will be quarterfinals (they were in question) this year and that the pre-playoffs (7-10) got cancelled. Another interesting thing is, that according to the VBL, the clubs will work on a way to establish a "foreigner limitation". This might already come for next season. Quoted from "Bayer" Though there a...

2017 FIVB U21 World Championship | Czech Republic

And Cuba won, very deservedly Great to see, that Cuba is not giving up on Volleyball! Again some amazingly physically talented guys in this team (Lopez, Gutierrez). I also think their setter did a pretty good job. Cuba's middles did not see too many balls but russian block could not handle the wingers at all. Overall, the russian team did not look very well prepared for this match. But again, big congrats to Cuban guys

FIVB World Tour 2017

Quoted from "rbdfabio" Why is Ludwig playing with Kozuch at the Porec Major? Is Walkenhorst injured? Yes, they reported some "minor" shoulder problems...... Just hope, they won't follow the path of Brink/Reckerman who were physically done after their London gold medal and had to end their careers (same coach, by the way ).

German NT 2017

Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" The only way to recover from this is probably naturalization of some foreigner in time for Olympics if Germany can't pass the last WCH qualifier for europe. Germany needs to fix the opposite problem. Hirsch doesn't seem strong enough to play the position imo. Maybe someone can ask a middle blocker to play that position for a while and see where it goes? Maybe Fromm too? After all I prefer outside hitters getting the role of opposites. who knows ot could come in ...

German NT 2017

Giani selected 14 players for the start of preparation for WCHQ: Setter: Lukas Kampa, Jan Zimmermann Opp: Simon Hirsch, Daniel Malescha MB: Marcus Böhme, Tobias Krick, Michael Andrei, Noah Baxpöhler OH: Christian Fromm, Denys Kaliberda, Moritz Reichert, Ruben Schott, Egor Bogachev L: Julian Zenger There is no Grozer/Schöps, Collin and M. Steuerwald. Especially the lack of an experienced libero imo hits the team hard. Julian Zenger is a decent prospect but i doubt he will stand the heat of such a...

2017 FIVB World League

Quoted from "YavorD" Estonia is a well-known team in Europe, no wonder if they challenge Germany seriously for the first place in Division III, but the positive surprise, also including the WCH qualifiers in the Netherlands, is Austria. I can't even explain how they let Spain beat them 0-3 at home in Linz. They would've made it to Mexico for the finals instead Yes, Estonia and Germany should be favourites. The little obstacle might be playing in Leon at 1900 metres altitude. An unusual flight o...

FIVB World Tour 2017

Quoted from "YavorD" OK, time to resurrect the thread again, it has been silent for a while. Moscow has seen some great matches and especially finals for a few years now, this year's is no exception. Volleycountry's report you can find here. Great rallies and overall wonderful beach volleyball played at 12°C I was told, they even had snow during some morning matches Quoted from "YavorD" How do you like the star structure and the new group format applied at 3 and 4-star events? I found the star ...

2017 FIVB World League

Quoted from "mosi" according to IVF, there will be 16 teams next year, 12 teams are confirmed for next 7 years !!! Brazil, Iran, China, Italy, Poland, Serbia, USA, France, Japan, Germany, Russia and Argentina. and these 4 teams will be in tier 1 next year. Australia, South Korea, Canada and Bulgaria. Ok, it was probably highest time for changing the playing mode, since the current mode was already in place for two years . Seeing Germany in that list comes as a true surprise and honestly, i will...

2017 FIVB World League

Quoted from "akitoakie" Quoted from "ossubtus" wow... did you guys see that POR MB still does the back slide??????? I dont see any problem with it. Lucas performed back slide perfectly well. I wonder why men no longer do back slide. It is quite efficient tbh. Usually, decent men MBs already spike with very high efficiency in front of the setter. It would be hard to improve this with back slide. Furthermore, conventional wisdom says that back slide is easier to block for men than for woman, due ...
