Men's World Championship 2018

Quoted from "vabo" I want to make clear that Giani is the last person to blame for this disaster. Makes as much sense as blaming Guidetti for the collapse of the women's NT. Germany simply doesn't have young players to replace its aging veterans. It was already a miracle for a country with subzero interest in volleyball to qualify both teams for the Olympics and win medals in world competitions for such a long time. Saying this as I can already see Giani being fired/forced to resign after the u...

Men's World Championship 2018

Quoted from "vabo" @Matthias I thought you were exaggerating then the 17-14 point 2nd set and the following timeout by Giani made it pretty clear I wish I was exaggerating, but Kaliberda and Hirsch walk around with heads down, Fromm looks like he's about to start crying any minute and Giani seems to know that he's lost. There is not the slightest bit of life in this team And at 0:2 down, they're officially dead. There is no way they can get past both Belgium and Estonia anymore.

I've never seen a team looking more desperate and frustrated on court than this German team. Belgium even scores with a completely misguided bump set going high over the net and dropping in the middle of German court

Just discovered what Guidetti said in press conference today Turkey coach Giovanni Guidetti: I feel ashamed. It was the worst match ever of my career. Sorry for the Thai fans that it wasn’t a good volleyball match. Congratulations to Thailand for their victory. Obviously he forgot some matches of the last 10 years because I remember worse. Maybe not worse than the 3rd set though...

Quoted from "Umu11" Which matches were decent? I am not upset because we lost most of our matches. I am upset because players didn't show anything special. I am not saying anything about Guidetti, i am talking about the players. The one against Brazil on the first weekend, the one against China on the second weekend and the one against Italy yesterday were not bad at all. What do you expect from these players? They simply are nothing special and the performance they showed in those matches I me...

Maybe to calm down the Turkish fans: when Guidetti was coach of Germany, whenever the team performed awful in WGP they performed very well in the key tournament later in the summer I wouldn't be surprised to see a very strong Turkish team in ECH. But yes, the one we saw today was pathetic. But there have also been a few decent matches in WGP, don't forget that.

Turkey- VVSL-Vestel Venus Women's League 2017/2018

Quoted from "wild_awake_" I hope Olesia Rykhliuk can join Vakifbank, she is way better then Lonneke Sloetjes. She's definitely not. Rykhliuk is good, but I'd pick Sloetjes over her anytime.

With 2 days to go, Group 2 F4 is already certain: Korea, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic. Korea is the favourite but it will be interesting to see how the other three teams will distribute in the final ranking.

There's no point living in a dream. WCH 2018 will be without Germany. Giani is going to have to achieve a good result in ECH, yet another failure this summer would probably cost him his job. I wouldn't be too sad about it though, I don't think his philosophy is going to work with the player material we have in the long run either.

Quoted from "Sidney" Quoted from "Matthias" Quoted from "Sidney" I thought they were just resting Michelle, I didn't know she got injuried. That new middle blocker is playing and Tetori is not She made an awkward move in defense and ended up twisting her ankle early in yesterday's match but continued playing, however there's no point forcing her to play against the weak Belgians. I guess they'll still rest her tomorrow but have her back for the finals. I hope so, because things would be easier ...
