Women's World Grand Prix 2017

as i said, i think PER in 1988 was the last time a short team was really at the top... i didn't watch VB back then, but i'm pretty sure the peruvians were much shorter than the soviets and other teams. btw, too bad CUB boycotted 1988 olympics, i wonder how high were they ranked in the world at the time.

meanwhile, a few weeks ago, JPN beat AUS 3-2 in canberra, both teams qualified to WCh, besting TPE, THA, NZL. AUS played without edgar, anyone know what's up with him? JPN moved dekita to OPP, and both ohtake and takahashi didn't play, i wonder why, dekita didn't make much impact.

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

Quoted from "sitenoise" Quoted from "ossubtus" pleumjit unstoppable in the middle... crazy how the biggest block in the world can't stop a woman who's only 180 cm. (speaking generally, not that ITA has the biggest block.) This is what I'm rooting for. It's not crazy. You don't have to be tall or jump high to beat a big lumbering clod to open space. I will dream on! i think you want to live in a world where height doesn't matter, but i don't think that's reality ... the days in which a short tea...

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

Quoted from "SHAME" With a serious coach like Guidetti or Lang Ping it would be a rain of gold medals every single year in every single tournament. USA never had so many world class and high level players all together and he managed to reach a worse result than Lang Ping in Beijing, where she made a real miracle with Haneef, Metcalf, Kim Glass, Nicole Davis around few world class players like Logan Tom. i don't agree that the USA has right now the best players they ever had before... i think th...

LOL. that was soooo hysterical. THA coach responds to ITA's challenge by issuing his own challenge and wins point! (tight ball to the net, malinov jumps to block THA attacker (pimpichaya?), ball hits net and goes out, ref rules that ball touched malinov, ITA challenges, replay from another angle shows that she didn't touch it. then THA challenges that malinov hit net, replay shows he's right.) . CRAZY.

ha! last point in 2nd set, pleumjit sets nootsara, who takes a big swing at the ball... doesn't kill it but then the ball gets back and she sets pleumjit for a kill.

my goodness, THA defends like their lives depend on it... nothing drops to the floor! pleumjit just toying with bonifacio, like a cat with a bug... ok, bonifacio is out, chirichella in... strange how THA couldn't beat DOM, now they killed ITA.

i think guerra's debut in the ITA team was last year's GP, i saw some matches against BRA, and she hasn't improved much since... 1st set ends with guerra with 1 kill. sorokaite? 0. i sometimes think moskri is taller than 178 cm. at least she looks like it. maybe because she's so long and skinny.

ok, it's only the first set, but guerra and sorokaite are embarrasingly bad. maybe they should bring back diouf to be egonu's backup.

ok, maybe THA massacred ITA in the beginning of the match, but ITA started with bench players, sorokaite, guerra, bonifacio... no sylla or egonu. maybe ITA coach was trying out something different.

i made a similar comment before that the USA team has no black players right now, when in the 3 olympic teams before 2016, they were 5 of 12. but this is not an all-white team, did you not notice wong-orantes? also, i don't know what the background of benson is. at pan am cup, they also had rhamat al-hassan. i think foluke and adams will come back eventually but karch doesn't like easy or hooker, i guess.

have not watched the more recent matches, but i watched most of ITA wins over CHN and TUR. not only folie is playing really well (she has great connection with malinov), sylla has improved a lot. with her attacking and egonu's, ITA doesn't even need much from either bosetti.
