2017 AVC Senior Women's Championship (Philippines/Manila, Aug 9-17, 2017)

duh... i posted the wikipedia link before, but i hadn't seen that squads were listed. thanks, ST. from what i see, rachel rourke is not playing for AUS. it must be frustrating for her to play with such a team.

Men's World Championship 2018

IRN and CHN qualified to the WCh 2018 (joining JPN and AUS), they beat QAT, KOR and KAZ. i guess now all european and asian teams are finished with Q, one slot left in s. america, and all of NORCECA and africa still to go.

i think all teams, except CHN, are A-teams. does anyone have a link to all the rosters?

Italian NT 2017

what are they training for? i thought diouf had said she would never play for NT again? after she was cut from olympics? i wonder if they have given up on training egonu as a passing OH. i think they should continue to try... if brayelin martinez at 200 cm can do, so can egonu. and if diouf improves her mobility and ball-handling, ... can you imagine an ITA team with such powerful hitters that can also play defense? they'd be unstoppable. are gennari, guerra and tirozzi coming back?

Men's World Championship 2018

mosi, but what you say also applies to the olympics. the AVC had some weird results. TPE beat both CHN and AUS in first round... then all 4 teams in pool E beat all teams in pool F to make the semis (that happened in the olympics too, in the women's tournament). also INA eliminated IRN... etc. CHN and AUS didn't do well in that tournament... also QAT eliminated in first round by KAZ and INA. i see on wikipedia IRN beat KOR 3-0 and CHN beat QAT 3-0. seems like these two teams will qualify to WCh.

2017 AVC Senior Women's Championship (Philippines/Manila, Aug 9-17, 2017)

i assume rachel rourke is not playing here? AUS is pretty bad, considering results in WGP. they lost to MEX, CMR and TTO.

Men's World Championship 2018

i saw on wikipedia that in the 2nd match, CHN had no trouble with KAZ. and a few weeks ago, KAZ finished 2nd at AVC and CHN, 8th. weird... also noticed KAZ has a 7-footer MB (212 cm)???? that's crazy tall... is he any good? QAT players are all from balkans, brazil and africa...

2017 IAAF World Championships, London

surprise in the men's 200. wayde van niekerk doesn't get the double gold... guliyev, ex-AZE, now TUR, wins surprise gold... crazy women's TJ too, VEN (rojas) beats COL (ibarguen). very exciting finish.

2017 AVC Senior Women's Championship (Philippines/Manila, Aug 9-17, 2017)

from the scores of some of these matches, it seems that there's a big disparity between the "big" teams and others... very sad to see that in some countries, women's sports are not favored or supported. also, why don't they combine the continental championships with the WCh qualifying? why bother hold separate tournaments? for the WCh Q, you can be sure they'll all send their A teams!!!

2017 AVC Senior Women's Championship (Philippines/Manila, Aug 9-17, 2017)

leonardo, i saw a few minutes of KAZ match in the GP. they were horrible. i think their team peaked in the WCh 2014, when they qualified by beating KOR, and they had players like mudritskaya, ishimtseva, jarlagassova (anarkulova), matveyeva. their level has fallen off precipitously since. last year they had beresneva setting!!!!!!

2017 AVC Senior Women's Championship (Philippines/Manila, Aug 9-17, 2017)

considering how AUS played at the GP, losing to MEX, CMR and TTO, it'd be a miracle if they can beat this CHN C team... i guess the JPN coaches don't like horikawa?

apparently this is not a very important competition since CHN won't even send a B team... but i guess THA and KOR want to win this... i wonder who JPN is gonna send.

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

just watched the first 3 sets... what a heartbreak for ITA in the 3rd set. but i think the worst heartbreak was really in the 5th... by then i think ITA was already spent. mazzanti really should have put in sorokaite for egonu. for every kill she had, egonu had another error, i think. they flashed the stats at the end of the match, and i think ITA outscored BRA in kills, but had so many more errors. BRA had more blocks total. adenizia of course a monster at the net. clayton lucas' pronunciation ...
