2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

Helena Havelkova seems still not to be fully usable, was not on court against Belgium. With her in good shape together with Havlickova and Mlejnková the Czech might have been able to turn things around despite the outstanding Lise van Hecke...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Quoted from "Matthias" Quoted from "StefanS" So far I know, at least the following kind and number of players are to be hired by teams: Schwerin: one middle and one OH Vilsbiburg: one OH Potsdam: one OPP/OH (or for both) The other 10 professional team rosters are either complete or may consider one more in some cases (tbc). Schwerin has found their missing OH already with Jelena Oluic. Potsdam still needs a 3rd middle and I don't think they'll sign another wing hitter. Erfurt definitely needs a...

Due to a press release Schwerin is currently testing another (Serbian) OH and also searching a fourth middle, both together would bring their roster to 13 players. Also they confirmed, that Martenne Bettendorf will like the retired US fellow Ariel Turner-Gebhardt take both roles as OH and as opposite, whatever is needed in a certain situation.

Quoted from "Phil" Polish setter Klaudia Konieczna is rumored to play in Suhl. Sounds well possible, Suhl hires largely foreigners for a long time (which will only cease in this extent, when rules will be changed likely for season 2019/2020) and a second setter is what they are searching for as last player.

Quoted from "ThomasHH" Quoted from "StefanS" Erfurt hires US middle Evyn McCoy and needs now two further players, all other teams are complete or need at most one more. One of them is Annalena Grätz (Köpenicker SC). She say it on her Instagram Account that she goes to Erfurt. Nele Iwohn goes to Offenburg (Second League South) I expected some players of the dissolved Köpenick team to go to other first league teams, so that's no big surprise. Going down from 1st to 2nd league means for a player n...

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

This last World Grand Prix is turning surprise directions all the time. But Mihajlovic injury isn't a story, I think: ankle injury since Thursday, so she rested yesterday and today they tried, if she can play, and had to give up after a while to prevent an even worse injury. It will be interesting next year in World League mode with 16 teams, how this compares.

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

I think, Terzic is a rather good coach, but he can fail sometimes as any other human. And don't forget, that Mihajlovic was out of shape after a strong first set, which limited his options in attack considerably.

That was one tactical and consequential play masterpiece by Brazil: they used all they could to "steal" this set from Serbia.

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

It's fairly simple: with Boskovic and Mihajlovic Serbia is clearly superiour in firepower against Brazil, not to speak about their tough middles (Rasic, now Veljkovic and in reserve Stevanovic...).

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

Quoted from "Sisko95" I haven't seen much of Daalderop because I don't watch the German league, but in this match at least she looks like an absolute star already. I will be interested to see how she develops She was at medium good team Aachen last season (already a good player) but is now with our vice champion, DVV cup and supercup winner Stuttgart. So I am glad about her development...

Quoted Is there no difference between EU-players and Not-EU-Players? Is it - according to the EU-rules - really possible to limit the number of players coming not from Germany, but from other EU-countries? If you refer to the Bosman sentence: this applies also to Italy, so there is no limit for hiring foreigners (i.e. players from other EU countries), but a minimum of 3 domestic players agreed by A1 teams, who have to be on court per team all the time. This grey zone approach seems not to be il...

After many more contracts made of the professional teams with players, I list the current state of the rosters regarding actual size, (guessed) planned size and number of German/domestic players in light of future rules (likely since season 2019/2020). Only Erfurt is still missing a considerable number of player contracts at now. First number is current contracts (so far known), second the (guessed) planned roster size an in braces the number of domestic players of the signed: Schwerin: 12/13 (6...

Maybe I should write preliminary finished all the time? Remember, until 31.1. in every season new players can be hired by the teams, for different reasons, not always predictable... Anyway, Vilsbiburg got back libera Michaela Bertalanitsch, who was last with lower Bavarian team Straubing (both in first and second league) and is searching for one more attacker to supposedly (preliminary!) finishing their roster of now 11 and afterwards 12 players
