Men's World Grand Champions Cup 2017

Watching Renan play without any knee support given his height, I can't help but be amazed. Evandro and Vissotto have never worn any knee support either, have they?

A-ha! I think I got it. Thanks very much, Mosi! Quoted from "mosi" Quoted from "barnabas" Just curious. How is -gh in "Ghaemi" pronounced? "Gh" stands for "ق" which is a Persian letter. a bit similar to "G" but just a bit. I think I can say it's very similar to "r" in French.

"Martelli" eh? That's a very interesting Italian term for outside hitters. My translator reads "hammers."

Or maybe it was Lang Ping who brought the magic back to China. Half of the 2012 Olympic team continued on to play under her. She then picked up where the previous team left off by continuously seeking out, training and adding tall young players.

What do you mean? I don't understand. Quoted from "samsara" Quoted from "barnabas" Why are we comparing Wang Yi Mei with opposite hitters? Hasn't she always been a non-receiving outside hitter in the national team? I always had the impression that Wang Yi Mei's undoing was her low stamina. I remember she made too many errors in drawn out matches. WANG Yi-mei was just a history as far as concerning the CHN NT. If there was no place for her in the NT as of four years ago after Lang Ping taking ove...

He has flunked in his pronunciation of "Araki" though. And "Ishii" and "Yurie" too. Still very forgivable. Quoted from "sitenoise" Clayton Lucas likes to call out players for admiring their last shot, which often prevents them from being ready for the next one. This tournament has been a gas for me. More games with reasonably intelligent commentary in a language I understand than the rest of my entire volleyball watching history.

2017 AVC Senior Women's Championship (Philippines/Manila, Aug 9-17, 2017)

My bad. I thought it was already the knockout stage already. Quoted from "jetmasters" Quoted from "barnabas" Yeah, China will certainly avoid Korea. It is the Philippines that Korea will play in the quarters. Quoted from "jetmasters" Didn't know Australia is this bad. Must be a B team or less. Now China has a chance to go to semis as long as they avoid Korea in quarterfinals. Philippines won't be playing Korea since they are in the same pool. If they finish 3rd or 4th, will likely play Thailand ...

^ I'm not surprised by Australia's loss, though. They have a weak floor defense and they are not (yet) used to the scrappy volleyball of East Asia. Their patience will be (and has been) severely tested. I hope they will be able to send representatives to the next Asian Club Championships so that they can improve. Incidentally, the FIBA Asia Cup (men's basketball) is being played in Beirut, Lebanon consecutively now. I wonder if anyone here is watching.

The third set is already half-finished and it is only now that I realized that Erika Araki is playing. This Chinese team seems to be playing the conventional Asian style game of really varied up attack patterns. Kind of hoping to see some double slide attacks a la-Zhou Su Hong and Liu Ya Nan, but the Chinese opp is a lefty. The ghost of Yuan X Y is upon this team--I hear some screeching, but I understand she's in China.

You don't believe the game took place? As of now, only an article is available: http://asianvolleyball.net/2017/08/japan…-australia-3-0/ Their next match will be against China, and they'll play at the main stadium. I think we can expect more photos, stats and even livestream videos of it. Quoted from "sitenoise" The Japan game didn't make the cut anywhere. Is there somewhere that will have stats and lineup or something to give me the impression that the game actually took place?

I'm not sure if this will work in other areas, but the local Philippine TV coverer is ABS CBN Sports and Action. You can look their channel up on Youtube. Also, there are quite a number of Facebook pages that play volleyball matches live. Most of them are Thai and Vietnamese. I can't provide links here because I'm at work (LOL). Maybe you can look them up too under keywords like "volleyball live."

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

Congrats to Brazil! Can't say how much I'm relieved see them win (and Italy get second place) because I feared that women's volleyball has gone the way of the giants. When Tandara is on, she's on, but I can't count how many times I got frustrated with her in the entire GP. I was hoping that she'd be moved from opposite to outside, so that small compromise by Coach Ze during the semis to make her the left-side hitter when she rotated front was satisfying. (BTW, I'd like to segue a bit to my obser...
