CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "Phil" Maritza has really good roster: Kamenova, Kitipova, Dimitrova, Nikolova, Todorova. I didn't know they all returned to bulgarian league. This team has been very ambitious the last few years and become a standout in Bulgaria - meanwhile they attract even several good players this way, of course playing CL makes them even more interesting.

CEV Champions League 2018

In Plovdiv home team Maritza won in four against European Cups experienced Finnish champions Viesti SALO - but the last are very good in home matches, so this duel remains largely open for return match, I think.

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

This first match in free TV sport1 had 100.000 spectators at average and 170.000 at the peak. While this sounds ridiculous for sure for Italy and Poland for example, this is far above the internet streams numbers so far and the users have still to get used to it.

Schwerin won a no way easy away match in Vilsbiburg shown on sport1 free tv in four sets. Essentially the "Red Raves" produced too many errors (considerably more than Schwerin), so they couldn't gain an advantage of their slightly besser attack efficiency (41% to 38%).

CEV Champions League 2018

Wow, Minsk wins tie-break in the end 13:15 in the hall of victories in Cannes, the home hall of the (formerly) famous RC Cannes. They have now a slight advantage for the return/home match in Belarus. On the other hand, an easy away win of Maribor in Brcko in three.

Le Cannet vs. Minsk is also dramatic, many very close sets. - It is just a duel for the quest, to get shreddered afterwards by VakifBank, cynically expressed.

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "pamphleteer" Glad to see Sliedrecht win its home match (especially after what was written about them here in this thread). Sorry about that, but I'm still convinced, that Asterix, obviously playing bad today, will easily win return match with three points and proceed to the next round. By the way, our Dutch captain Deborah van Daelen confirmed my view, that the DELA league is rather feeble including Sliedrecht.

Turkey- VVSL-Vestel Venus Women's League 2017/2018

Quoted from "Meatballs" Quoted from "Harrison" In Italy they use molten, in Turkey and Cev-Fivb tournaments they use mikasa.Receiving is more easy with molten ball. Yes, and as far as I know, they use molten in US too. Also in Germany it is Mikasa, which seems to prevail worldwide and marginalize Molten overall.

Turkey- VVSL-Vestel Venus Women's League 2017/2018

Quoted from "rbdfabio" Zhu said she wants to win every single trophy this time and I really don`t doubt her. This is a serious statement, a team, which seriously wants to hinder VakifBank at that task, is hard to find (world-wide).

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

I think, this team from Erfurt is not on the level to play first Bundesliga (yet?). It is another case of a not fitting ratio of team budget (600.000 Euro is not at the minimum of the league, that's in vicinity of 450.000 €) and roster/team constructed with it. A set lost with one-digit points is just not acceptable in this generally very balanced league...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

The clear wins of Schwerin and Wiesbaden were no surprise. Dresden is as vulnerable as expected: no good reception, no effective outside hitters regarding attack, this is not enough to win the championship. And the loss in Potsdam is the first logical result of being underperforming on the OH positions. Another bad match of Stuttgart (not as bad as in Hannover, but still far below the expectations): setting is not working well enough, and most attackers are out of shape (especially Michaela Mlej...

Women's World Grand Prix 2017

I read, that for Germany/women Stuttgart is first choice for the hosting city - obviously Allianz MTV Stuttgart did a lot, including the all-time Bundesliga record of 5,392 spectators in Porsche Arena vs. Dresden in season 2015/2016 playoff final match. I hope, advertising for the event works better than last time in World Grand Prix in that hall, because when China and especially Turkey and Netherlands are playing in Stuttgart, it should be feasible, to attract fans from these countries too in ...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

In an interview our managing director Kim Renkema revealed, that Stuttgart's budget is currently 1.2 million Euro (a new highest value) and she aims for 2 million in some years to take the lead in this regard and to enable the team to participate every time it qualifies in the CL. She admits though, that our financial manager doubts, if this can be done in the foreseeable future, despite our city and region of Stuttgart are very rich, but the will to support sport teams financially aside from so...

That's similar in Stuttgart: of the so far (mainly) second league players only three at most can hope for time on the court in matches of duty: Annie Cesar (L, OH as receiver) of course, because she is even in first league roster fixed now (and had some time already in supercup as receiver), and the dual licensed Julia Wenzel (OH) and Lena Große Scharmann (Opp).

Russia - Superliga 2017/18

While four matches were as boring as expected (clear 3 sets to 0 sweeps of Moscow against Chelyabinsk, Kazan against St.Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk against Proton and Ekaterinburg against Sachalinsk) the match of Krasnodar against Odinzovo went into tie-break, which was won by the guests from Moscow region. Because Krasnodar had a major change of its roster (about 1 player stayed there), this is not conclusive yet regarding Odinzovo of course.

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

This was a rather feeble performance by Stuttgart, and there is hardly any excuse. Of course preparation time was too short (for both teams, well solved by Schwerin anyway), but at Stuttgarts team even basics like reception and service didn't work out really. I'm very sorry for this embarassing weak performance, especially for the live viewers... there is good reason to see Schwerin as main favorite for the championship, but Stuttgart should be able to challenge them, a lot of hard work is obvio...

CEV Champions League 2018

Kfar Saba might be better as expected, they collected some important foreign key players from Brazil and Russia and elsewhere alongside with her main OH Anna Veliky. Their friendly win against Bekescsabai (champion) from Hungary in three clear, straight sets was a surprise for me.
