Italy – Superlega 2017/2018

Quoted from "Kk15" Abdel Aziz amazing service run: from 10-16 to 17-16, 3 aces, 2 free ball earned, and the last point is a masterpiece https://youtu.be/D0SWqe0sD-c I have the impression De Pandis was too advanced inside the court while receiving... Lorenzetti didn't take a single time-out??? Really? Kudos to Abdel-Aziz, of course, but the coach should take some blame for sure.

Other European leagues 2017-2018

After surprisingly (or maybe not that much) losing the Montenegrin title last season for the first time in years, Budvanska Rivijera Budva ceased its existence The official reason was the financial inability to maintain the team. We remember some mysterious foreigners playing for the club in the past 2 years, I don't know, though, if it has (in)directly led to the outcome.

Brazilian Superliga 2017-2018

Monstrous first-round stats for JF Volei's OH Leonardo Nascimento. He received most of the time for his team, finished with 63% in attack, 4 blocks, and 32 points. Impressive! He's only 22, right? I will look forward to watching him, had never heard of him before.

CEV Champions League 2018

The Champions League is underway with the first qualifying matches. As expected, the most interesting encounter in the 2nd round is between Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Shakhtior Soligorsk. 32 points from an OH is impressive even nowadays, let alone from an almost 38-year-old player. It's inspiring what Leo Dos Santos, a former CL particpiant with Unterhaching, Zalau, and Tirol, could do at this age.

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

By the way, rumours say Berlin were helped by officials during their first season win at home against Herrsching Things don't look well there at all, it seems.

Russian Superleague 2017/2018

What is going on in Moscow? This is the weakest Dinamo I can remember. Not on paper, but in terms of form and results. I refuse to believe it is only due to Grankin's departure, they still have enough quality to have avoided some of the home defeats in the league. And on top of that came the 3 defeats for the Cup

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

I am kind of out of the world right now and I could only follow stats these last few days. Berlin's dreadful start is worth talking about, although we have to admit that their first two matches in the season were against difficult opponents. Dueren should create trouble this campaign. Who knows, after many recent attempts by Moculescu and last year by Heynen, perhaps the time has finally come to see a new champion in Germany. It's way too early now, of course. United Volleys also look well on pa...

Men's World Championship 2018

Quoted from "serdar" The whole formula is just to be sure that hosts can reach to semis The possibility of getting surprise results is the part that makes WCh interesting, that's why they should have stick to Quarterfinals and even better, to final 16 The whole formula exists to ensure there are as many games as possible, unfortunately. If the hosts want to cheat, they will fix the draw, not the formula. Reference - Italy at the home men's WCH in 2010. This time Italy is hosting again but not a...

2017 Norceca

The topic has been discussed in the Men's WCH 2018 thread. EDIT: It was a continental championship, I am sorry, I didn't realize that. I thought it was just a qualifier.

Men's World Championship 2018

Quoted from "rbdfabio" Puerto Rico and Cuba did not make to the States because of the hurricane Maria. I`m surprised you guys have not heard about it, the Hurricane almost destroyed the whole Island of Puerto Rico. And the whole Caribbean has been dealing with Hurricanes. I guess it is unknown the dates and location for the next phase, they gotta wait and see when Puerto Rico and Cuba will be ready to play. We know about the hurricane, of course. I would never imagine they would still allow the...

Men's World Championship 2018

The main qualifiers in North America are through. Source FIVB The tournament didn't go without surprises. The Dominican Republic haven't been a factor even in NORCECA, so their straight-set win against Mexico in the semis and eventual WCH berth can be considered a surprise. They also have a few experienced players but not all played in the qualifier these past days. I don't even know if Batista and Contreras, for instance, are still NT players. Or active players, for that matter. Which brings us...

Bulgarian Superliga 2017-2018

Quoted from "SHAME" Bulgarian Superleague website is quite weird, but I found the result of the Supercup match (first edition, right?): Neftochimik 2010-Dobrudzha 07 3-1 (21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-23). Thanks for the update I am still waiting for the stats sheet, I will post it once it becomes available. The best scorers are Valentin Bratoev with 25 points for the winners, whereas Dobrudzha's opposite Zhulien Georgiev finished with 21. No, it isn't the first edition, by the way. We've had it for ...

2017 - 2018 transfer rumours

Quoted from "YavorD" Quoted from "TheDiplomat" Does anyone know where the following players will play this year: Marcus Bohme, Armin Mustedanovic, Ndo Mote, Michael Brinkley, Eric Fitterer, Maksim Zhigalov and Maksim Buculjevic? Zhigalov came in as a substitute for Belogorie against Fakel over the weekend. No info about the rest, though. Some might have extended their contracts with their respective teams. Marcus Bohme is rumoured to have signed with Olympiacos for the new season, no official c...

Having successfully completed his trials at Galatasaray, Daudi Okello (Ugandan, OPP, 22-year-old, 201 cm, Marek Union-Ivkoni (Bulgaria)) will go on loan at the Turkish club for a year. He even made his debut over the weekend. Teodor Todorov (Bulgarian NT, MB) is another new player for Galatasaray.

Russian Superleague 2017/2018

Although he got appointed as an assistant to Gennagy Shipulin (as all his recent ancestors in Belgorod), Gheorghe Cretu sat on the bench as a head coach for today's match versus Zenit St. Petersburg. We know how it goes over there, powsoff described the situation pretty well. It means that Belogorie hired a full-time, experienced coach. He may not be a big name, but it is an upgrade to the experiment that had been going for some time. I could only watch the last set of the match tonight and I sa...

Men's Club World Championship 2017

Pool A is stronger indeed. But not because of Shanghai, but rather because of Skra in Pool B And Cruzeiro in A, of course. However, if Shanghai do show up with Lyneel and Conte, things will get interesting. This might turn out to be one of the best, if not the best, World Club Championship we've had in a while. Still, I find it a bit unfair that there is no North American team here. Yeah, I know, popularity and drama and class and stuff.

Men's World Grand Champions Cup 2017

Quoted from "ossubtus" wow. vettori got an ace in first set when he clearly foot-faulted but JPN coach didn't bother to challenge it even though players were calling out the foot-fault. I thought the same, too! And I remember the Chinese NT head coach during the 2014 WCH seemed to refuse to use the video challenge system no matter how appropriate it could have been on a number of occasions. This is one of the impressions I got while watching Asian teams compete in intercontinental events. Is it...
