CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" But nothing's worse than the men's pool A and C. This is so benign compared to that I'm not sure, at least in the male league two teams are sure to pass, the real problem here is that only one team will (plus two best seconds, that will hardly be from the two toughest pools... crossing my fingers obviously) I still think that with a better ranking system we would get a bit more balanced pools, anyway. Or at least it wouldn't be that random...

CEV Champions League 2018

Well, as a Trentino fan I must admit we could have had worse, as an Italian that we could have had better. Imho the pools are still not unbalanced like the female, anyway... there I guess Italy could have hardly got worst

Italy – Superlega 2017/2018

I only watched from 21-22 of second set... Great stuffs from Perugia overall (like, how many balls they've kept alive??? and what a block!!!), but I'm quite glad that despite that (and despite not playing flawlessly) Trento almost kept up, so for them it wasn't the worst match ever, even if we clearly miss something if we can't never won a set to the advantages even when we have most of the set points (while for example vs Lube it was the other way around, mostly). Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamer...

Oh thank God Shaw isn't 100% fine, that's a huge relief, they will have to play with De Cecco Anyway, yesterday Verona-Ravenna match was the longest ever in Serie A1 since Rally Point System! 162 minutes!

I just realized that at least if Trento will lose 3-0 or 3-1 vs Perugia we won't lose our great 11th position

Yes they did! The tie break ended 20-18 (!) for Verona (with a lucky serve of Stern that took the net, for the record!). Very fought match and also very entertaining imho! And obviously very long

And now Teo also put on terrible mustache Now Modena is way ahed Latina, 22-14 (what a pity!); Padova won 3-1; in Verona Ravenna is 23-20 (wasted opportunity by Verona for 21-22...) I'm curious if in Modena Mazzone started titular and then was subbed or if Bossi was chosen, I've never catch the first on court so far (hadn't watch most of the first set though) EDIT: 21-23, 21-24 for Ravenna, then 25-22. The tie break is the right conclusion for this match imho! Modena won 3-1!

Pomì On the other hand Orro did recovered in time and played (while Diouf have to stay still for a little longer). Busto won 3-1 vs Monza, nice result for them, I consider Monza a direct contender! Keep shine Busto

Modena won the 4th 34-32, very challenged match for what I catch while watching Verona-Ravenna on TV. Probably Modena not at his best, but when it matters (the advantages of first and third set) they're there, and that's what make the difference between losing and winning. Latina won't sleep well tonight if they'll lose this match, with two set lost ad the advantages and one after being ahed after such a good team like Modena... Ravenna finally managed to win a set, but again Verona almost close...

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "Phil" For season 2017-18 they count season 13/14, 14/15 and 15/16. Oh, there is the 'error' in evaluating the ranking, then (for me): not counting the year right before. I hadn't realized that! I cross my finger for next year then, I guess the CL results plus last year CEV Cup results will help us finally raising in the ranking. I think also in 2013-2014 we didn't partecipate to the CEV Cup (so it twice in 3 years, not once as I thought) and in that year we also didn't reach CL fin...

Italy – Superlega 2017/2018

Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" I really thought Tiziano is going to start in Ravenna. That's pretty awkward leaving Trento for another time on the bench. Seems to me the management opted for the win. They might've gotten some friendly rate because of Orduña's connection with Poglajen. He also started with the disadvantage of the injury, now considering Ravenna is playing well (only one defeat so far I think, let's see if today they will reopen the match or not) it will be hard for him to find...

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "Phil" Who's fault is it? Poland has more points in the rank so they deserved it. If you don't play in CEV Cups, you don't collect the points. It's simple. I've always read that ('Italian team didn't partecipate to CEV Cups') as the explanation for this not-correspondent-to-reality ranking. But, checking the results of the past three year, you can see that: Season 2016-2017: two Italian teams in CL --> one in the play off 6, one in the the final; two team in CEV Cup --> both in semi...

Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" PS Lanza is horrible with that regard. What do you mean with that? Do you mean 'serve' with 'that regard'? In that case I agree Or you were answering to Shame and meant 'being a leader'? Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" Kaziyski is playing in Japan. It is doubtful JTEKT will waive him. I was speaking of the play off, it wouldn't be the first time. Anyway I don't think that will happen and I don't think it would change much, but I may change my mind in a few mont...

I don't know... from one point of view, it seems like at the moment they're incapable of getting out of the situation on their own. On the other hand, they also seem to have several margins of improvement (I definitely don't agree that the block defense is great, I would have actually said the opposite..), at least on paper. Still, I wouldn't be able to say how the market could help, unless they have to spend huge amount of moneys... which I don't think they will. The only big 'cheap' name I cou...

So, also first victory at home for Vibo and first loss for Modena. I checked, the last time Trento loss without points in PalaTrento (in RS) is 28/02/2016 again vs Verona, but it was only the second home-loss of the year and it arrived at the 10th (on 11) days of the RS return. The last time they loss 3 of the first 5 matches of the RS is... 2000-2001, they're first season in A1 EDIT: correction, this is the 4th loss in 6 matches, and I also missed that in 2004-2005 they also had 3 losses on 5 m...
