Turkey- VVSL-Vestel Venus Women's League 2017/2018

Now it is all beginning. Top 3 teams had enough time and matches to try their players, find their starting 6 and build a system. It will be exciting to see how they will perform against each other, I am especially interested in seeing Eczacibasi and Fenerbahce's form since they have slightly new line ups and so far did not face any strong teams. GS was pretty unlucky in that sense since they played all 3 matches 3,4 and 5 week with only 3 days in between each. So I think their performance in the...

Quoted from "Janko" 5th round in the row Galata is televised... 3 of these were against top 3: Fenerbahce, Eczacibasi and Vakifbank. Now the 5th one will be against the underdog Bursa BB. I don't know why they broadcasted Seramiksan match though. I think we won't watch more of GS's matches from now on until the 2nd half of the season. Meanwhile, FB's home matches are not broadcasted because they are playing in their own hall which is against what TVF wants.

2017 / 2018 Transfer Rumors & Discussion

Quoted from "serdar" Quoted from "Matthias" What about the Puertorican player? Is she not coming to Canakkale after all? http://tvf-web.dataproject.com/Competiti…eamID=142&ID=25 She still seems to be in their roster indeed, however she hasn't played any single match with Canakkale yet She left Canakkale and went back to Puerto Rico. According to her, they didnt want to pay her. It was a silly decision after all, they needed a dominant opposite.

Quoted from "Sisko95" Gizem Karadayi hasn't been benched. She has played every set apart from in one match this year, she is still Bursa's starting libero. Actually I've only seen her in one game this season (the first one vs Fenerbahce) and I thought she did a really good job considering it was her first game. It was the match before last one where she was benched. I did not see the last one until today, my mistake.

Quoted from "Matthias" I love how people continue to declare a team or a player as "disaster" when the season is just two weeks old Nobody is in top shape now, least of all the NT players. But more important, nobody NEEDS to be in top shape now. We can judge Kosheleva after her performances in the big matches, not after 4 or 5 regular season matches (in which she undoubtedly didn't make a very convincing impression). Despite the fact that I used the word "disaster", I agree on you 100%. I have ...

Congrats FB though both teams look like a disaster. The difference today is, FB had a libero, GS didn't. At GS, players look like they hate Ataman and doing their best to make him kicked off. I mean, we watched Rabadzhieva's serves this summer in ECH and how a good server she was. Today she missed 6 serves and her other serves were useless. Both liberos are making amateur errors. Freeballs are delivered sky high and off the net to the setter. At some point, the defense looked like junior high sc...

Quoted from "ossubtus" a couple of short points: koshelevea reception and defense better than salas? HA. i don't think salas is the great savior that some are thinking, she is a big hitter but also makes mistakes and hits into the block a lot... sinead jack is 10 kilos over her normal weight? you are exaggerating... Kosheleva is far better than Salas in defense, Salas does not even walk to defend a ball while you can see Kosheleva actually jumping to save time to time. At least her defense look...

I like Guidetti's courage today too however it actually matters this season to finish the league period as 1st or not. If you finish 1st, that means you get a direct ticket to CL next year, that's why it is important not to lose points on the way. Despite this fact, almost all teams are actually using their youngsters this season. GS used all their players including 16 year old Ilkin against Ilbank, Eczacibasi today used Hande and Meliha as well as their 2nd libero, same for Vakifbank and FB.

@Rains_of_Castamere; I did not combine her two matches, here are her cumulative stats combined by TVF: http://tvf-web.dataproject.com/Statistics.aspx?ID=25&PID=58 You can check "servis karsilama" and "mukemmel" means perfect. Against Vakifbank, she made 2 errors in receiving and received with 43% perfect: http://tvf-web.dataproject.com/MatchStat…58&type=LegList I am not saying she is the best receiver or she should receive etc. Ataman pulled her off from receiving because she could not receive a...

Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" Quoted from "Meatballs" Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" Any setter will have big trouble setting if the reception is terrible. That's the number one rule which Kosheleva usually breaks. So important in the women's play because there is not enough players who can kill the ball like the men do. Pass. Set. Attack. Any volleyball player with setter background may probably keep that fact from you. That explains you didnt watch matches because despite the direct erro...

Did you guys really watch GS's matches? I'm not saying Gamze is a bad setter, she actually is one of my favorite setters. But you don't have to be a genius to understand why Gamze and Kosheleva are so disconnected. If you really watched GS's matches, at least the last two, you could see how off the sets were from the net for Kosheleva. Gamze did the same when she played with Meijners 3 years ago. She does one thing correct, yes Kosheleva wants high sets but she does a terrible mistake by pushing...

I think it is too early to blame Kosheleva for anything in GS. In Eczacibasi, she worked with a terrible trainer like Barbolini where everyone underperformed, not only Kosheleva. In GS, she is playing with a very new setter and if you watch carefully, she doesnt seem comfortable to hit balls off the net and low. Gamze will sooner or later notice that she has to increase the height of her sets and push them closer to net which Kosheleva likes to hit and Kosheleva will get faster than today. The w...

Quoted from "Canter" do you think Wilma Salas would be a better choice for Galatasaray instead of Kosheleva ? Oh my god, no way. I was thinking the same last year but she is a star of mediocre teams unfortunately and I think her receiving/defense skills are worse than Kosheleva. I think the only attacker option which would be good for GS was Buijs instead of Kosheleva since she likes fast sets. All other attackers are kind of slow, Salas, Jerkov, Carcases, Kosheleva etc. Actually, the best for ...

@leo2017, I agree with Neslihan, although she doesnt need to improve either. But Kosheleva has to update herself if she wants to remain in top of the volleyball society. Her attacking is so outdated and not many teams can tolerate that anymore and there is no age for learning new things! I bet she would enjoy such a challenge. GS also has Seda injured and I would actually include Sinead Jack in the injured category. +10kgs for a MB is like walking instead of running

Quoted from "leo2017" Quoted from "ryleybarnes" If GS want to win, just get rid of Kosheleva. Didnt they see her performance for the last two years? Gs needs to improve a lot to compete in champions league. They are not ready for final-6. That's quite mean to say for any player who just spent 3 weeks with a new setter in a totally new system. She was such a fiasco last season but entire Eczacibasi was, and they were really bad even when Kosheleva was not on the court. That was not her fault bu...

I was away for a week but had time to watch Eczacibasi and Vakifbank matches of GS. GS looks extremely unprepared, like 6 individuals trying to get to know each other. This is obviously a much better team with better potential than last year. Gamze and Asli are still there, Rabadzhieva is obviously a better OH than Leys, Neslihan defends and attacks as good as Centoni but serves better than her. The major problem here is unfortunately Kosheleva is not contributing as much as Guldeniz did last ye...

@leo, I remember it wrong then. What I remember was, in a critical part of the match, Zhu couldnt kill the ball when Jack was in the front row and then Jack actually blocked her. Although I really like Zhu, I dont think any attacker in the world is really unstoppable. With a good block/defense system, you can do that. However as you mentioned, Zhu playing with over 55% did not help her team to win, so looks like GS's strategy was not really to stop her but rather stopped others.

Seda has an injury thats why she didnt play even friendly matches and she won't recover for 3 more weeks, meaning she will miss all the important matches. @serdar, I agree on what you said about Vakifbank and Gio that he should let players go in court slowly, not all together. Ataman did that in GS's last match against Ilbank, young and new transfer Ilkin played half of second and all of the 3rd set and did an excellent job in attacking. I think all GS players played that much including Nursevil...
