Turkey- VVSL-Vestel Venus Women's League 2017/2018

Quoted from "beri" In the VakifBank-Fenerbahçe derby it is decided that away supporters (FB) will not be allowed to enter the match. Very bizarre decision if you ask me, FB supporters have been one of the best in the league lately if you ask me and truly care about volleyball and their players. VB is scared to be intimidated and lose I guess. Very weird decision especially since I don't recall VB-FB matches being that problematic... I'm also surprised - usually only the duels Fenerbahce vs. Gal...

CEV Cup 2018

Quoted from "Kk15" Quoted from "StefanS" but the second round they have to warm up fighting for sure against the forth team of Italian championship Busto Arsizio, I hand't realized we have Eczacibasi on our path And quite early too... Reminder: here is the CEV page for the competition now already with all playing dates/times and all teams for the first matches: http://www.cev.lu/Competition-Area/Compe…D=1037&PID=1550 The only things missing are some return match dates/times for the first round ...

CEV Cup 2018

After all losers from CL qualification came into this competition and all leages are running (but Azeri?), we can draw some preliminary conclusions about favourites for victory, finals, semis and quarters I guess, considering only teams with a generally decent level here: the default winner of the competition is clearly Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul. They are definitely the strongest team leading all competitors with a wide margin. The first round for them is a joke (Belgium league second place Oude...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Injury situation in Stuttgart got even worse: today also Pia Kästner, our second setter, was out of play, while Daalderop didn't return yet into playing team. So four of our players were out today; as emergency backup setter Moggy Wlk from second team was there (but not used in the match)...

Russia - Superliga 2017/18

Clear three set victory of defending champions Moscow against Odinzovo. The first three, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk and Moscow have now all 5 to 1 victories and 15 points, Odinzovo just two points less.

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "warolkojtyla" Finally a nice draw for Polish teams!!! It used to be usually the italian teams who had nice draws... Except Budowlani of course, but with some luck both Chemik and Develpopres can win the pools ;ooo What we have seen so far suggests, that Dynamo Kazan is clearly stronger than Chemik Police now.

CEV Champions League 2018

There were several fundamental flaws before this draw, which enabled this nonsensical outcome: 1. too many pools and teams at all, if they want a high quality competition only at CEV they should admit only 12 teams in three pools, which suffices, to let the powerhorses of Turkey, Italy and Russia in and avoid the majority of others (one to two clubs from Poland are also okay, what Bundesliga teams think about this is rather clear, after Schwerin and Stuttgart didn't want to participate... and th...

CEV Champions League 2018

The CEV changed the setting of clubs: until last season league came first, now champions come first and vice champions are ranked much lower in the draw. The insane possibility, that mostly rather strong qualification teams can get together with other teams of the same country wasn't resolved. So two Istanbul teams in one group are still possible, which doesn't make any sense IMHO.

Poland - Liga Siatkówki Kobiet 2017/18

Second consecutive defeat of Grot Budowlani Lodz, despite they had a set ball in the third set, they lost in three sets against CL pool stage compatriots Developres SkyRes in Rzeszow and are only fifth in table, Rzeszow is third. LKS Comercecon Lodz is nearly equal to Chemik Police at the top.

Italy - Serie A1 2017/18

Quoted from "Rains_of_Castamere" How are the italian fans holding up? Italy's world cup fate is at stake. I really thought the italian league threads in this forum wouldn't be this busy with everyone watching football. Opposed to countries like Germany and more like Brazil and Poland volleyball is in Italy number two teamsport and not that far behind.

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "ignorans" Koshkin took responsibility for Kransnoyarsk defeat and resigned (http://www.russiavolley.com/12306/alexan…ey-krasnoyarsk/). Was a bit unlucky (they had 2 match points...) but made a lot of changes which lead the several situations where coordination and communication failed... Another news on WoV sounded more like he was just fired after the disastrous match (I guess, they acquired more money this season because of participation in CL, so bailout before pool stage was no...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Quoted from "kenny3999" Stralsund - Münster 0:3 (16:25 18:25 23:25) MVP: Enning (last year in our 2nd league team)/ Hindriksen Münster with some problems at the beginning of the 3rd set (Timeout 5:11). But they managed the game still in 3 sets... Especially in the first half of the first set and in the finishing stage of the third Münster was not completely convincing, but at least they avoided a set loss opposed to Potsdam and especially Vilsbiburg.

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Big drawback for Stuttgart, because we have currently three serious injuries: Nikoleta Perovic (belly muscle issue) will not be back soon, Nika Daalderop was visibly not moving symmetrically yesterday because of her knee injury and maybe the worst is Micheli Tomazela Pissinato, who is now using crutches to walk. So we have currently only one regular opposite, two to three outside hitters (Julia Schäfer is more like reserve, that's why Sandor and Mlejnková, who is visibly tired, play always curre...

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "crovolley" My God...Poland has 3 teams in CL and Italy only 2. Yeah that is so right You have to decide, what you want: of course you could give the CEV the authority, to decide, how many berths in CL every league gets. For the experts this is no too hard task, a rational proposal would be for example 4 for Turkey (i.e. all big Istanbul teams), 3 for Italy, 2 for Russia, 2 for Poland and maybe one wildcard for one of Germany, France or Romania (to decide on applications/guessing st...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

No upsets in DVV cup round of the last 16. In a true mission impossible regional league (equals fourth league) amateurs of USV Vimodrom Jena lost badly (as expected) at home against champions and last time cup runners up SSC Palmberg Schwerin with -5, -13 and -9. So the pure first league duels in the quarters are: Vilsbiburg vs. Schwerin Dresden vs. Potsdam Wiesbaden - Suhl (Münster) - Stuttgart Münster has still to win in Stralsund, but because those are also second league amateurs, Münster is ...

CEV Champions League 2018

Aside from Plovdivs upset of favourite Krasnoyarsk all other three favourites took their CL pool tickets today: Easy living for three times and defending CL champions VakifBank Istanbul: they won in three, only in the first set there was noticable resistence by underdog Minsk in VakifBank Istanbul hall. Not so easy was the task for Developres SkyRes Rzeszow: they needed four sets, despite they already advanced thanks to their four set victory in Maribor already after two sets, they lost the thir...

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "pamphleteer" Quoted from "deian1302" Good Job Maritsa. I'm vey happy because you deserve this moment. Very good game by all our players especially from Kitipova, Nasya Dimitrova and of course Kremena Kamenova. In comparison with other clubs, they also do a good job on twitter (and deserve more follower), IMO. Not my fault I'm following them on twitter and added them to my volleyball list there too. Indeed they have yet less followers than Allianz MTV Stuttgart, while I'm guessing, ...

surprise: Krasnoyarsk out of CL

I watched the match in the cavern of the Eastern Sibirian bear, so to speak: Bulgarian champions Maritza Plovdiv played a great match and despite Yenisey Krasnoyarsk won the first two sets as expected, the fearless and brave Bulgarians managed not only to reach the tie-break though, but also winning it and also the concluding Golden Set clearly. But this success was well-deserved, because Krasnoyarsk got weaker after the first two sets, never fully recovered and Plovdiv played a really great mat...
