Russian Superleague 2017/2018

Quoted from "scarpetta" I think Zenit is so confident and cocky that , even Alekno came to match with no plan. There is Camejo there, but they are continuing to serve to libero I am not watching very attentively but i somehow have impression too that Kazan completely lacks focus and body language. They probably can afford the loss and Gazprom may be happy too that their team 2 can do some advertisement for themselves....

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

Tonight, the first clash between, as i suppose, Top3 teams of the league will take place. United Volleys will play against Berlin at 19.00 CET in Frankfurt. It will be the first match for decades which will be televised on free TV (Sport1), so a good match would be highly appreciated. With the introduction of Pujol, Berlin has gained some additional strength as he has already proven that he can make the team better, coming from the bench. Maybe he will even start today. Berlin's big guns, Kromm ...

USA - NVA (National Volleyball Association)

Quoted from "rbdfabio" you are probably not familiar with the city of Chicago. There`s meaning behind every name. "Lights out Chicago" During their migratory season, millions of birds representing hundreds of species fly through our city on their way to their summer or winter homes. Lights from tall buildings can disrupt these migratory paths, causing birds to circle buildings repeatedly. As a result, many of them die from exhaustion or after colliding with a building. The Lights Out program en...

Italy – Superlega 2017/2018

Well, Zaytsev. This somehow fits to the image i have always had of him. But anyway...... What is somehow more interesting to me, is the appearance of Red Bull on the indoor volleyball sponsor market. I guess, they see this as a little test balloon, after they have already been involved at Beach Volleyball. Once they may decide to invest in larger scale, things could get interesting. Lets remember that they have managed within 5 years to establish a 4th division team as a Championsleague particip...

Quoted from "beri" Omg ahahaha Team Pineapple! my favorites right away xD In german we have the expression that whenever you make a 4th place or win a meaningless match, that you have won "the golden pineapple"... My favourite surely is Chicago "Lights Out". Will remember this for the next fun tournament

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "YavorD" So far it has turned out great in the domestic league and in the CL qualifiers, but you don't have to be an expert to see that they will suffer immensely against a more physical team. Actually, Sossenheimer seemed to me as the player that Tischer will rely more on, Protopsaltis is a great jumper but his height should and will be a problem. This is why I don't think they will suffer much in defence, Heynen's team normally didn't, but rather in attack, if you ask me. Besides,...

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "YavorD" About the two teams. I don't have super recent news about VfB, I only know that their summer signing, one of the few Bulgarian talents Martin Atanasov, got injured relatively seriously and had to end his contract with Friedrichshafen. I think all other players arrived in Bulgaria and should play. I am curious about Takvam's position tonight as Heynen has been experimenting lately. Neftochimik, on the other side, has two injured players (the MB Petkov and the OH Petrov) but ...

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

Putting aside the "ethical" side of Berlin's setter move, Pujol's transfer could truly develop into a good decision for Berlin. He already came to help in Berlin's cup match, when Düren already led by 2:0. With him on court, Berlin could still turn around the match. Also in yesterdays Bundesliga match against Lüneburg he came in for Kühner in a critical moment and helped Berlin to win the match. Other random observations from the league so far: Friedrichshafen looks like the best team by far, at...

Big betting scandal in Romania

I have always thought that Volleyball could be vulnerable to the betting mafia. Quite low salaries and not the highest public attention in a lot of leagues/countries could easily tempt players/refs to take money for "influencing" a match. I fear, once you start digging, there can be a lot of dirt to be found. I do think, these excessive betting opportunities are a true pain in the a*se for sports in general and Volleyball should rather stay away from partnerships with betting companies......

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

Quoted from "Marcus" http://www.volleybalkrant.nl/nieuwsberic…weg-bij-berlijn Dutch article in which Van Haarlem confirms he is forced to leave the club. "The president of the club decided to buy/hire a new setter. Apparently it's possible to do this kind of things when you have the money. The other setter (Kühner) will stay in Berlin, but I´m forced to leave. So, after nearly two months I'm done here. Without even getting a fair chance. One time, I got the chance to play and delivered a solid ...

Brazil NT 2017

Quoted from "saishuu" Quoted from "kondzio" intersting, so his suspension started at March 2016 Not sure when exactly, but most likely, yeah. He probably filed the request around this time. I somehow had 2019 in my mind and it seems that my memory did not trick me. Obviously FIVB initially sent a letter to Brazilian Federation with the wrong date and corrected it now. Leal will be allowed to play for Brazil only from April 2019 source: https://globoesporte.globo.com/volei/not…l-de-2019.ghtml

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

Quoted from "TimHH" ..... Additionally Kühner doesn't seem to embrace his new role as "first setter" . I am afraid van Haarlem won't be able to add much quality from the bench. .... According to WoV the transfer of Pierre Pujol to Berlin is a done deal. Unless there are no injuries involved, this transfer doesn't leave Berlin's season planning in a good light and surely is a slap in the face for Kühner and van Harlem. I haven't followed Pujol during last years but if he is healthy he should imp...

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

Quoted from "YavorD" I am kind of out of the world right now and I could only follow stats these last few days. Berlin's dreadful start is worth talking about, although we have to admit that their first two matches in the season were against difficult opponents. Dueren should create trouble this campaign. Who knows, after many recent attempts by Moculescu and last year by Heynen, perhaps the time has finally come to see a new champion in Germany. It's way too early now, of course. United Volley...

Poland - PlusLiga 2017/18

Quoted from "bella" Can someone enlighten me and tell me what happened with Jastrzebie in game against Zaksa? Where did this spirit from game against Skra go? Looking at the result Zaksa crushed us, only in 3rd set it looked like oranges woke up to fight. Looks like they still lack a kind of balance. At the moment they are 0:2 down against Resovia. Muzai not really in the game yet and on the other side Rossard with great numbers in the first two sets. Lets see what happens after 10 minute break...
