Men's Club World Championship 2017

Quoted from "saishuu" This is the Sada I know. They're still shaky at some points, but it seems they've woken up. No, this is surely not the Cruzeiro team we had known for the past 2-3 seasons. Unfortunately, they seem to have reached their peak back then and with this roster they became very good but not amazing. And amazing is what they used to be. It will be probably more correct to say that this is the Cruzeiro side we will know from now on. William could make a difference for them and he i...

Men's Club World Championship 2017

Quoted from "sheba021" Quoted from "YavorD" I follow some of the European leagues, so I was mostly looking forward to watching the non-European teams. Thanks to a Brazilian YouTube uploader, we have access to their league and Cruzeiro's matches. Which left us with Bolivar, Shanghai, and Sarmayeh as teams whose shape/game is relatively unknown. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD3Z8OG4d402E-pvTENePYw/featured This channel streams, among other Argentinian sports, every single game of their volley...

CEV Cup Men 2018

Although the Czech Rep. failed to qualify a team for the Champions League group phase after Ceske Budejovice got eliminated by VaLePa, all Czech teams scored wins in the European competitions. Jihostroj Ceske Budejovice, Dukla Liberec, and Kladno won their first-leg matches in the CEV Cup, whereas Brno and CEZ Karlovarsko did the same in the Challenge Cup. This says a lot about the level of the Czech league and the domestic/foreign players they have.

Men's Club World Championship 2017

What an entertaining first day already! Although, to me, this is not quite a complete World Club Championship without African and North American teams, we can't neglect the fact that this must be the best World Club Championship FIVB have organized. At least in terms of quality and participants. I follow some of the European leagues, so I was mostly looking forward to watching the non-European teams. Thanks to a Brazilian YouTube uploader, we have access to their league and Cruzeiro's matches. W...

2018 Volleyball Nations League (VNL)

Quoted from "TimHH" Quoted from "Noncommittal" CEV introduced the Golden European League that woukd be qualification for FIVB Challenger Cup. http://www.cev.lu/News.aspx?NewsID=26464&ID=5 So in order to play Nations League 2019, a european team would have to play/win a "6-leg pool stage", a final4 tournament, the FIVB challenger cup and another play-off?? I like the idea of a revivement of European League, especially with all those decent teams available, but this is overkill..... Do you know wh...

technical problems/missing posts

Quoted from "sitenoise" Quoted from "theloneracer" I can't get to my inbox. If I press "Private Messages" up above, I get the same error. That's been my experience for several weeks. I am sorry about that I can confirm the problem, I have been unable to use personal messages for over a month now. I contacted both WoltLab and Popelka (he is the license holder) but I have got no news/solution/improvement till now.

I just realized I never wrote a post here.

Quoted from "Martee" Hey Tim! Thanks for the message! I'm definitely looking forward to contributing to this forum more again. About the match on 24/2... Actually I was hesitating between this game and a Plusliga game but Poland cities are not easy to get to (compared to München which serves tons of US desitinations) and I have a friend in Innsbruck... so there we go. Sebastian Kühner is still on my list, along with Robert Kromm and Steven Marshall. I unfortunately doesn't know anyone on the ho...

2018 Volleyball Nations League (VNL)

Quoted from "garbalawal" According to Tunisia Volleyball federation, a new competition will be created in 2018: the "FIVB Men's Challenger League" with 20 teams participating. The latest FIVB news confirms it. FIVB are planning a Challenger Cup for both genders but with only 6 teams each, not 20. How and whether confederations are going to choose the participants is still unclear and rather individual.

Russian Superleague 2017/2018

After commenting on Serniotti's dismissal in Poland, let's move on to Cretu's resignation in Belgorod. One single game, lost 0-3 at home to Kuzbass in the Cup semifinal, is said to have been the reason for the coach's decision. Is there something more into this story? I downloaded the match and watched it two days ago (next comes the replay of the final, on the to-do list). Well, OK, Belogorie were absent in that semifinal. Shaky reception, non-existent block, self-destructive serves, vague atta...

Poland - PlusLiga 2017/18

I was also surprised by Serniotti's dismissal. Results may not have been in his favour indeed, but a serious team, unless finding themselves near the bottom of the table in December, won't normally fire a coach in the middle of the season. And Serniotti is a serious name, the least he deserves is some time. I don't know, however, whether there are any problems in the locker room or with him personally. To me, Resovia's squad this season isn't quite impressive and I am certain there are not many ...

2017 - 2018 transfer news

Viacheslau Charapovich got released by Neftochimik 2010 Burgas. The official reason is an ongoing injury he cannot recover from. Whether this is entirely true is unclear. Evgeniy Bannov (Russia, Universal, 23-year-old, 207 cm, property of Lokomotiv Novosibirsk) has joined Levski Sofia (probably on loan). He started the season on loan at Ugra-Samotlor in the Russian league but terminated his contract due to the club's financial problems.

CEV Cup Men 2018

Quoted from "TimHH" Schedule: http://www.cev.lu/Competition-Area/compe…D=1034&PID=1548 The competition will start this week. For the upper half of the draw, Belgorod looks like the clear favourite, especially considering Resovia's latest performances. On first view, the lower half looks a bit more balanced with decent teams like Ziraat, Verona, Montpellier, United Volleys or even Neftochemik. Pretty tough first round battle between United Volleys and Montpellier and a nice compairison between f...

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

It feels great to have volleyball on free TV, doesn't it? When you don't have to look for streams or pray for the internet connection to last Especially in Germany this must be some kind of phenomenon Berlin vs. Tirol Haching was an entertaining match. I have watched too little from the Bundesliga so far to make any comparisons or general remarks. But based on their recent results, this might've been Berlin's best game till now. I haven't seen Carroll score that much in a while. Luke Perry seems...

Men's World Championship 2018

So we didn't actually see the draw, right? Even the officially recorded video on YouTube interrupts the draw in the middle and shows the interviews afterwards. I have to say I feared I would be right when Japan was immediately drawn to Pool A Still, I believe the Italians didn't mess up this time, they got Belgium and Slovenia which will make the group entertaining. The host said that it would be made sure no more than 3 teams from a confederation could be drawn together, yet they first drew th...

Men's World Championship 2018

Quoted from "Kk15" But, I don't understand, are you really suggesting that they can willingly alterate the sorting? I'm not sarcastic, I'm really asking because it would be shameful. [I know you put the joke mode on, but still...] One thing (still shameful, but at least somehow 'legal') is to adjust the rules of the seeding/sorting or adjust the formula to have an easier path as host*, another thing is to deliberately fake the sorting... Anyway, why Bulgaria is seeded with the third of the rank...

Men's World Championship 2018

The draw will take place tomorrow, 30th November, in Florence. We already know the seeded teams, thanks to a not very clearly defined serpentine system, in each of the 4 pools. Pool A (in Italy) Italy (Hosts) Argentina (7) Pool B (in Bulgaria) Brazil (1) Canada (6) Pool C (in italy) United States (2) Russia (5) Pool D (in Bulgaria) Bulgaria (Hosts) Poland (3) Pot 3: Iran (8 ), France (9), Serbia (11), Japan (12) Pot 4: Egypt (13), Belgium (15), Cuba (16), Australia (17) Pot 5: Finland (18 ), Chi...

2017 - 2018 transfer news

Quoted from "Kaziyski" Burutay is playing as OH as I know, Velizar played whole derby against Ziraat which Halkbank won As you know, Burutay is universal in general, so I was referring to him being the preferred option for opposite. Happy that Chernokozhev played against Ziraatbank, though!

Russian Superleague 2017/2018

Quoted from "powsoff" Quoted from "YavorD" Well, I also won't rule out some backstage games, especially when one company has a few teams in the league, but facts are facts. Zenit's rejects beat Zenit We've discussed Dinamo Moscow's problems, now they seem to have scored some important wins in a row and to approach the top 4 spots. And they still used an OH (Kooy) as a MB until recently! Fakel and Kuzbass are obvious, Nova has been indeed the team to talk about lately. However, I would like to b...
