Japan - V.Premier League 2017-2018

Quoted from "sitenoise" Hisamitsu v JT: Speaking of godlike ... Foluke Akinradewo. I understand that MBs usually have a higher kill percentage than OH/OPs, but 15/20? Why not just let her swing 80 times like the other foreigners? See if she gets 60 kills. She's unstoppable. So quick MB comparison, Araki vs. Foluke. Who gets more sets? Foluke because her team looks for her. Araki is good, maybe not as athletic as Foluke. However, if the teams don't run the middle after the first pass (sadly many...

Logan Tom & Destinee Hooker - What Went Wrong?

Nicole Davis Interview on The Net Live Go to 43 minutes in to start as it starts with the murder of Hugh's father-in-law in Beijing. It then transfers to the team going towards London in 2012. About 20 minutes long. Some people feel that Nicole threw Logan under the bus. I don't think that she did only because she was explaining the dynamics of the team, which includes Logan. Additionall...

Volley players in commercials

Adidas used her because she has signed an Adidas contract. Adidas also signed a long-term deal with USA Volleyball as the uniform supplier for the national teams. Many USA team players now wear Adidas as their preferred shoe, even when not playing with the national team. I am not saying she is a recognized face, but it is part of Adidas making volleyball a target for their sales in the USA. Still many girls do not realize that USA women and men play professionally overseas. Even if you throw Mat...

Japan - V.Premier League 2017-2018

Quoted from "rbdfabio" Vow 2 games at the same time?! I have never seen this before, I wonder if the final will have men`s and women`s at the same time also. They had 4 courts going the first two rounds. At the quarterfinals, they dropped down to two courts. For the semifinals, it will be in a different venue and they will only use one court.

2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

Quoted from "sitenoise" I'd love to see a tournament that was March Madness style win or go home. Boom! That's what I grew up on. The system as it is seems tortured and convoluted ... more, or less, because Japan has lots of money and are charming hosts. I get that. But it is what it is. The overwhelming consensus for this year's tournaments was that Montreux was a circus sideshow, WGP was unimportant, ACh--gimme a break, WGCC was meaningless, ECh praise the lord, and now the WCh is a joke. See...

Japan - V.Premier League 2017-2018

The main reasoning for the slow stream is that Japan is very stringent with intellectual property laws. So, we are lucky to get the ones we have. May times in the past I was watching Japanese events in a foreign language because Polsat was broadcasting or in Russian too. Quoted from "sitenoise" Quoted from "Canter" @sitenoise, can you say about the formula of the league ? Uhm, I'm a new guy, not sure what you mean by "the formula" of the league. Like ... how will the playoffs and points be calcu...

2018 Volleyball Nations League (VNL)

My best guess would be that each Confederation will use the previous Continental Championship results with the highest placed teams that are not in the VNL. Or 2nd answer will be highest rated teams in FIVB World Rankings. With that said, I would hope that they bring back the continental results to the world ranking.

2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

This is not a conspiracy on the pools. The FIVB changed the seeding to only host +top 7 teams. Last two tournaments it was host + top 11. I think that the extra row gave the tournament a little more randomness. The tournament has always had the teams carry their results from the first round with the teams that advanced. With only 3 teams advancing from the second round, you have to win matches against the other pool from the first round. Japan in 2010 as hosts lost their first match of the secon...

Japan - V.Premier League 2017-2018

My responses to numbers 5. Hitachi is not even close to being as bad as their W-L would indicate Really beg to differ. Worst points ratio in the league, they are -2.6 points per set to their opponents (using 48 point sets). 3 teams are within 7 points of even (1.000), Toray, Denso and NEC. That means you are a .500 team. Hisamitsu is 4.85 points per set ahead of every one. JT at 1.14 is 2nd best. Right now, now one will catch Hisamitsu. 7. If NEC wanted to win games they would play Shimamura ins...

Japan - V.Premier League 2017-2018

Quoted from "sitenoise" The Empress's Cup, whatever that is, is played around xmas. It is a single elimination tournament that is open to prefectural winners (which can be a high school, university or company team) and the top level professional teams. This tournament is similar to the FA cup in England (which started all of these "open" cup competitions). The teams that win the prefecture tournaments then get to a "Block tournament" which groups them into regions and then the regional winners a...
