Brazilian League 2017/2018

surprised to hear that sheilla is so ignorant. she used to go out with mari steinbrecher so she should know better. i think the IOC/international standards are that the TG athlete must have had cross-gender surgery, have been undergoing hormonal therapy for a few years, and that her testosterone levels are controlled at a certain level. i assume she’s within those parameters and thus cleared to compete as a woman. the thing is, is she any stronger or faster than other women of her height? does s...

haven’t watched the match but i know sanchez hits high balls from 2, so maybe that’s why you think she played as OPP. many cuban MBs used to hit high balls from 3...

how tall is abreu? from photos, she looks like she's definitely much taller and bigger than the other players. also it seems from the internet, that she played in men's teams (in mexico?) while transitioning, which cannot have been easy for her...

2017 / 2018 Transfer News

sorry for the OT, guys, but please, read some more or do some research, semenya (and some of the other competitors in the women’s 800 in rio) are not biological women. on the contrary... and they’re not transgender. the more correct term is probably intersexed or intersex. maybe we need a different thread for this.

2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

well, maybe it's not a conspiracy, but the ranking system being so stupid put ARG ranked too high (ahead of PUR, AZE, THA, TUR, GER and BUL), and wow... coincidence, it fell into the host's group! wow, how convenient. that's why that group is so skewed. but then JPN has had luck in the last 2 olympics, in both times landing in the easiest and most ridiculous group. in london, all it had to do was beat ALG and GBR (!) to get to the QFs, and in rio, they again only had to beat ARG and CMR to advan...

2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

Quoted from "rbdfabio" And there `s a problem that can occur in the 3rd round as well with the 3 teams. For example in 2014 the 2 groups were Italy/USA/Russia and on the other Brazil/China/Dominican Republic. Brazil defeated China in 3-0, Brazil 3 points and China 0. China defeated Dominican Republic in 3-2, which means China got 2 points and D.Rep 1. The final game Brazil defeated R.Republic in 3-0. Final standing Brazil 6 points, China 2 and D. Republic eliminated with 1 point. For Brazil the...

2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

how is ARG ranked higher than THA, PUR, AZE, BUL? what a joke. that's why pool A is so easy for the hosts. how convenient... i don't think AZE will play as well as playing at home. even at home, they totally sucked in the semis and bronze medal match. i would not like to see a round of 16 (like fifa) but i also think this 3rd round is totally unnecessary and stupid. fivb has the worst ideas, like this and pools of 3 teams. canter, CUB is about 3rd-level these days, they played in the GP group 3 ...

Cuban NT 2017

what's the current situation with CUB volleyball? i heard they are now allowing players to go abroad and play without having to defect. i heard vargas, among others, played abroad professionally. are there any upcoming competitions for them in 2018? it's too bad they are not in the WGP.

Turkey- VVSL-Vestel Venus Women's League 2017/2018

that was a stupid red card by salas, she makes a stupid mistake and then pulls the net down. earlier, ramirez got a yellow for complaining too much... actually i'm impressed after all these years that daymi can still kill the ball like that. i don't understand why the coach doesn't have daymi passing the ball more and taking some of the burden off salas, it's not like daymi is getting a ton of sets... but considering how old ramirez is and that she's about bosetti's height, it's impressive she c...

Turkey- VVSL-Vestel Venus Women's League 2017/2018

Quoted from "Meatballs" Ahaha gotta love the Cuban girls. Actually Sanchez, Ramirez and Salas have been doing this thing all season long, also while staring straight into their opponents faces or referees. I love it and Salas is a fabulous spiker who is imo criminally underrated well, i've been looking for the match of halkbank against galatasaray but can't find it. would have wanted to see salas vs. kosheleva...

Turkey- VVSL-Vestel Venus Women's League 2017/2018

actually my memories of salas from her days in the CUB NT in the GP were that she was the quietest of the cubans, she always has that blank face and she doesn't say much. ramirez is of course one of those fiery (sometimes nasty) cubans. was just re-watching an old match between BRA and CUB from around 2007 and commentators were saying that the day before ramirez and calderon had gotten into a fistfight! even years earlier, i think there is footage of a fight in which the cuban players punched on...

LOL. did you guys see that salas got called by the ref. for carry/conduction because she threw the ball against the block, so on the next play, she slammed the ball down and she stared at the ref. ("look what i can do!"). at about 1:03 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLjo37Erck8
