Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Of course Aachen vs. Münster is escpecially important for ranking of teams between 4 to 7 (and maybe 8 too). For me Aachen is the clear-cut favourite, they are playing at home in their small special hall and collected much more victories already than Münster, only regarding points the difference is not that big.

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

Quoted from "FAME" Quoted from "StefanS" Quoted from "Matthias" Alexander Waibl prematurely renewed his contract with Dresdner SC until 2021. He's their head coach since 2009, so by far the longest time on bench of all 1st league teams at the moment. One might question this deal, especially regarding the too feeble choice of OHs currently, which will leave the championsship finals forseeable to the much better selected teams on this positions of Stuttgart and Schwerin - doesn't he recognize, th...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

At the weekend there are two especially important matches: on Saturday evening Stuttgart can seal the victory in the league round for the pole position for the playoffs in Vilsbiburg. The last release an underdog news, that they will fight against the "undoubtedly best German team at now" as they can, because they need every point or set possible for the Playoff ranking. On Sunday Schwerin hosts Wiesbaden, which will be interesting in several regards: the first league match was won by Wiesbaden ...

2018 CEV Challenge Cup

I didn't want to offend clubs from weaker leagues with lower budgets, to make this clear. The issue, that there are only few good teams and many much weaker is worst in Challenge cup, which results in the most predictable results in the first rounds. I would prefer, if the plan a few years ago would be performed, to fuse CEV and Challenge cup into one competition and make groups of four according rankings, this would not overcome this issue, but make things less extreme. Of course there is a bia...

CEV Champions League 2018

Especially the CL is of course under influence of the big European federations - that's quite usual in sports. Or do you believe, they would do anything serious against the volleyball federations of Turkey, Russia or Italy (even Poland has more influence than any other as those four federations in CEV, I guess)?

Quoted from "kenny3999" I heared rumors, that the juniorteam of Schwerin in 2nd-League will retired after the season. Have anybody some informations about the future (full retirement or start in 3rd-league) of the federal base in Schwerin? thanks a lot. By the way, the federal base here in münster has got a new coordinator, a new Person for represantitive Jobs (Lippmann, our female Volleyball Player 2017) etc. Source [in german] No way, that Schwerin will cease the federal base, and in which le...

2018 CEV Challenge Cup

It gets only interesting in the semis - indeed, the win of Pfeffingen against Bacau was the first surprise. But you have to admit, that CL and CEV cup are much more interesting, or not?

CEV Champions League 2018

At this moment we can be sure, that group winners Kazan and alongside with them Conegliano, VakifBank and Galatasaray proceed to Playoff-6. Today the last two matches can bring more clarity. There is still no (official) information regarding F4 hosts.

2018 CEV Challenge Cup

And the boredom continues: easily away/first match wins for Bursa and Krasnodar again, today also to expect a win of Olympiacos Piraeus in Swiss Pfeffingen and fourth quarter has to be considered more or less irrelevant (aside from the teams participating).

CEV Cup 2018

Quoted from "SHAME" Quoted from "StefanS" Quoted from "SHAME" Stuttgart is clearly stronger than Dresdner this season. Non only the OHs are weak from Dresdner. Stuttgart has got an amazing couple of MBs way too strong compared to the ones of their opponents. McCage is NT and Top teams material. Yes, our US middles are a bank or better wall to work with. And especially regarding Mallory "Molly" McCage I'm afraid we can't keep her, because she will get certainly offers from Italy or other leagues...

CEV Cup 2018

Yes, those were two surprises, but maybe not as big, as some might think, more because of the relatively clear outcome: Minsk is far too superiour in Belorus, so they always need to adapt a bit in European Cups when playing good teams there, but they do this well and quickly enough. I considered as possible, if our team Stuttgart might have a chance, and Minsk kicked off two French teams this season already, they might be on a similar level and could have a chance against Ekaterinburg - but it w...

CEV Cup 2018

Quoted from "Canter" Quoted from "StefanS" Quoted from "Canter" is Krasnoyarsk a better team than Uralocka or not ? there is also Casalmaggiore It is hard to tell: after league round Krasnoyarsk was in Russia better than Ekaterinburg, but this can change in the playoffs, because the tendency of Krasnojarsk was more to weaken over the season opposed to Uralochka, which seems now to strengthen. Just wait, if favourites of Casalmaggiore win against Schwerin! This is absolutely not for granted IMHO...

CEV Champions League 2018

So it remains a mystery, why Gala team is so sure to proceed to the Playoff-6? At least it is highly unlikely, that all other second best teams will overtake them. By the way, VakifBank needs now just two sets against Galatasaray to ensure first place in the group, therefore Gala may get more from that match as some think...

Quoted from "harboboy" Is Galatasaray for sure in the playoffs now? They post it on instagram that they made it, for example Neslihan. Yes they are, because Volero can't overtake them now anymore. Only the last of the four second placed teams fails.
