Brazil NT 2018

Quoted from "Bush" I have to say, that I'm really surprised, in a positive way, by this convocation of coach Renan. Especially because of Léozinho (c'mon, the guy scored 38 points with 58% on attack, in a game), Abouba, Honorato, Rogérinho and Matheus. Even if 70% of this boys get cut, they need a chance to train and play some matches. I will bet that after the playoffs are finished, the rest of the list will have these players: S: Bruno, William - and maybe Thiaguinho or Rapha OPP: Wallace, Al...

Italy – Superlega 2017/2018

Quoted from "Rains" So I guess Modena will break up after this match? Ngapeth seems most annoyed with Holt or am I reading too much into it? and what was that exchange between him and the other coach? The stream cut off just after that.. I think Modena need a new style of play after this - and not having Ngapeth will help the other players and new players to come into their own - he was too much of a big star/personality for this team and the obvious clashes with the coach didn't help... Juanto...

Brazilian Superliga 2017-2018

Quoted from "saishuu" Quoted from "Agguerro" Lol so agree with you about Joao. I really like Honorato and he seems to have better shot selection than Douglas. I like Douglas for some reason, I think he can be very consistent which is important for Brazil's type of play. I wonder what happened to Matheus Dos Santos from the u23 team? He looked like he had potential as a middle player... Matheus just got called by Renan Dal Zotto for the first NT trainings! He might play some smaller tournaments ...

Brazilian Superliga 2017-2018

Quoted from "Rains" I think Mauricio is ahead of Douglas. He doesn't rely on his jump and explosiveness like Lucarelli and Joao so even if he gets injured, his level will stay the same. I think Douglas needs to focus on his fitness. I have a feeling Honorato and Rodriguinho will be better than him if he stays petite or twinky like that. My only wish is for Honorato to get a couple more inches with his height. I still think he's going to be better than Joao. He looks stronger physically and has ...

Brazilian Superliga 2017-2018

Quoted from "saishuu" I think the NT needs to invest in giving more playing time to some new OHs and MBs. Setters are okay (William, Raphael and Bruno), as well as opposites (Wallace, possibly Alan) and liberos (Thales and Brendle). The big gap I believe falls in those two positions. Lucão is getting near the end of his NT career judging by his age alone, as well as Éder. So I'd give more time to Isac, Otávio and some possible newcomers like Flávio. I think Maurício Souza peaked in 2016 and tha...

Brazilian Superliga 2017-2018

Quoted from "Rains" Bruno-31 William-38 Raphael-38 I think the setter needs the most change ASAP. Bruno will be okay for atleast 5 more years but Raphael and William should be given more rest especially for less important tournamenets like VNL and friendlies. Agreed. For some reason I feel the middle is the most vulnerable, but considering the failure of Murilo Radke to become the next setter. The next hopefuls are too short - i.e second setter of Sada and setter of Sesc.. so there is a bit of ...

Brazilian Superliga 2017-2018

Quoted from "saishuu" So, yeah. Seems like Leal has given up on this season after signing with Lube. Taubaté is leading the semifinal against Sada by 2 games to 0. I do not even recall if this has ever happened with Sada before, at least since they began their winning streak. Not seeing them in the finals would be bizarre. Agree about 'leal' - I started noticing this at the club world championships when it was obvious Leal was just frustrated with his team and wasnt in it really for most part. ...

Italy – Superlega 2017/2018

what a terrible end to a nice set.... Clearly Bruno got to the ball... I hate it when refs ruin games like that, such an important point needs more concentration or at least refs must be able to call on the challenge themselves if they are unsure..

Brazilian League 2017/2018

Good win for Sesc, after a season with ups and downs... Looking into the final though... There are still too many weaknesses in my opinion... I wonder how much of today for example was to do with them, and how much was more about the inconsistencies of Minas.. I suspect its more of the latter. It looked like whenever Minas was able to string a few points together they were able to take control relatively easily, showing how inconsistent Sesc can be. Drussyla is a huge liability - For every point...

Brazilian NT 2018 - who deserves the spot?

I thought Dani Lins was pregnant? She's not going to play this season surely? Anyhow Roberta is definitely first choice. OH - agree with most - but not really impressed with Rosamaria. I guess shes been part of the squad for a while now it would be awkward to cut her off . I kept hoping last season she would begin to show a better or more consistent level,, but i couldn't really see this. Why isn't anyone saying Leia for Libero ? Has she left the team? I thought she only requested a season off. ...

Brazilian Superliga 2017-2018

I think Brazil will need to have 3 opposite players - one of them being Renan. He showed very good potential in their friendly series against the USA last year, although he then didnt play so well during the world league.. His attack is very far from whats needed, but he can be a blocking force . Joao should get a chance as well.. the outside hitter position is a vulnerable - last year and in Rio it really helped that Lipe could come in and help. Mauricio stabilises reception but he can be shut ...

Totally agree about Alan. Brazil really need another opposite anyway. Not sure about Evandro.... Loved to see William in this match - he made the match close! Sada have looked more vulnerable this year in a long time, I think the winner of the league is not a forgone conclusion for them.

Just catching on to this discussion now.... interesting points being raised. I was a bit shocked by the interview by Sheila - form what is publicised about her person, I always assumed she was a bit more level headed - some of her comments were very rude actually - almost like some of the vile things Yelena Isimbaeva - another very decorated athlete, started making after retiring. There is a line between sharing an opinion being an ambassador. cue - the issues in tennis as well at the moment wit...

Taubate vs Sesc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHT8G0oQ0nI #bad refereeing ruined this match a bit..or quite a lot lol Hawkeye is seriously needed in Brazil - the magnitude of the bad decisions seems higher given that the other top leagues do have the challenge system. It also seems to be there is a huge disproportionate number of red and yellow cards given in Brazilian superliga. The refs seem quite 'generous' in giving these at inappropriate times as well...

Men's Club World Championship 2017

High display of volleyball from Zenit. They were very determined this year after being so close. The last couple of finals they were just outplayed and didn't really seem to have a plan B. But they have played so much calmer and composed throughout the tournament. Leon was determined to show the Poles what he will be contributing to their national team :-) With all the talk abut him coming to the polish league, I wonder what Zenit will do if he leaves? Despite being a well organised team - Leon ...

Men's Club World Championship 2017

This match should have been played by the Sada bench players - the team just imploded and couldn't really get it together. Sada have been playing below par matches and still managing to win anyway for a while now - they now need to raise their game, today they seemed shocked. It does make for the rest of the tournament interesting though... and should Sada go through, possibly Kazan awaits in the semis... Good composed play by Lube

Brazilian League 2017/2018

I cannot believe everyone so far puts Rosamaria in place of Gabi Rosamaria has a long way to go still, and doesnt have a definite thing she does best. Gabi passes well, the very first priority for an outside player, and her attacking is ok too. She is also more dynamic in attack than Rosamaria, who seems to only be able to hit the ball in one way and one direction only. Nothing against Rosamaria but I think people may be over hyping her really. also, given the current state of Minas, it is not r...

Brazilian Superliga 2017-2018

Quoted from "rbdfabio" Quoted from "Agguerro" After two tough matches .. Taubate is not looking great... both opponents they played looked like well drilled squads and Taubate looked the opposite. Wallace is just not effective, Otavio is not playing well, serving is generally not on the same level as other teams etc etc. Hopefully they get it together and start playing some better volleyball. Personally think this team could do much better with a better setter.. no offence to Rapha but I dont t...
