Poland - PlusLiga 2017/18

That Olsztyn-ZAKSA game yesterday was delightful, haven't had that much fun watching volleyball in a long time. And more generally, these playoffs are incredible so far. I'm sure it's largely a coincidence, but I always thought well of the new playoff system and am glad it's first year is so spectacular.

I think TimHH meant the continental titles as well (which Russia probably won too, so no matter). A better question is whether it ever happened before that a team won all the games in their year group? Because Poland has, so far (competitve ones at least, not sure about friendlies).

2017 - 2018 transfer rumours

Heavy rumours of Kevin Tillie in Jastrzebski. If it turns out to be true, JW will have a very good team with Oliva, Tillie, Muzaj and Kampa; it would also strongly suggest that Zaksa decided to go with a foreign replacement for Konarski (Sabbi?). EDIT: Apparently Torres (offical info from Zaksa website).

Italy – Superlega Unipolsai 2016-2017

Quoted it was the longest final match of the Italian Championship: 2h and 27 minutes (the second – 2h and 29min – is match 1 Trento-Modena of 2014-2015 There is clearly a typo here, what is it? Was the current match longer than you stated, or the old one shorter?

2017 - 2018 transfer news

Quoted Dawid Konarski will leave Zaksa. Which is a problem for ZAKSA. Not so much because of Konarski himself, but because of the foreign players limits. Without Konarski, ZAKSA has two options: either they find a high quality polish opposite or they need a polish OH. The first might be difficult (possibly Bartman? Some people speculate about Kurek, as he heasn't been announced in Skra yet, but it's likely just wishful thinking), the latter would probably force Tillie to leave, which would be t...

2017 - 2018 transfer rumours

Polish media seem pretty certain that Gjorgiev will join Warsaw (http://sportowefakty.wp.pl/siatkowka/684…-onico-warszawa). Warsaw is going to be strong, perhaps even strong enough to play for medals.

Poland - PlusLiga 2016/17

In Poland the consensus among fans seems to be that Wlazły is much more Skra's main problem than Penchev, Uriarte or Kurek (who seems to be getting praise for his late season form; hard for me to say, as I haven't seen the game he has apparently dominated, the return game with Sovia. In the games I did see, he played well in attack and mostly decently in reception, although Zaksa's serves did trouble him quite a bit in the first game in particular).

This (I really hope) last set of Zaksa-Skra is painful to watch. This year's system is idiotic. Anyway, super happy that Zaksa defended the title!

Poland - PlusLiga 2016/17

They definitely run out of steam in March and early April: but they were very dominant in the semis. On the other hand, there is no room for manouver in reception, as not only Tillie but also the young OH Semieniuk are injured. And Świderski said today that Deroo has some back problems, but will have to play as there is no-one to replace him (could be smokescreen though). And yes, I believe you are right wrt CL.

Tillie has been missing for over a month now and there was (is?) a serious danger he might not play again this season. Recently, however, I've heard that he might even be back for the home game against Belgorod. Hope so, Zaksa really needs him, Buszek does not provide nearly as much quality.

Looks like Resovia is pretty safe, as long as they don't lose any points against the weaker opponents they will be facing; and even though Resovia like do lose points against weaker teams, I still can't see them losing points in games with Częstochowa, Bielsko-Biała and Kielce. So they only would need to score 2 points in the games against Będzin and Kędzierzyn to be 100% sure of advancing; and this is assuming Skra and Olsztyn not losing any points outside of their game against each other.

Super inbalanced draw. One of the 'thirds' has not a single group winner: it seems that Dinamo, who got beaten by Zaksa comfortably twice, has much higer chances of advancing that Zaksa itself. I really hope Berlin beats them. But there should be plenty of good games.

CEV Champions League 2017

If Resovia keeps playing at this level they might fail to qualify for the second round in all competitions (already missed Polish Cup semis, are two sets away from missing F12 in CL and there is still a good chance they might not make it to the PlusLiga semis). Wonder if this would finally get Kowal fired...

Zaksa lost to Istambul, but it seems they fielded their second team (not even Zatorski played) and it was quite close nevertheless.

It's always a (schaden)pleasure when Resovia loses. But this time the pleasure is intensified but the fact that this Jastrzebski team is a joy to watch.

Quoted from "TimHH" Berlin secured the second place in group and got a bit sloppy. Are you sure? They have 3 wins atm and Resovia can still get 4 wins; I thought wins count first and points second? (might be wrong, though)

CEV Champions League 2017

Quoted but maybe he managed to recruit the best group of players he needs. I believe this is the case. And he deserves big credit for that too, as he was given almost a free reign in completing the squad (within budget, of course) before last season. In that sense, we can cross out 'not at all' from your list. But it is also the reason why I am unsure whether De Giorgi will be able to repeat this sucess with the Polish NT, which simply does not have a setter of Toniutti's quality. I guess we wi...

CEV Champions League 2017

Very good game by Zaksa, other then the latter bits of set 3. This match was strangely similar to the Moscow game: with Zaksa again comfortably leading in set 3, losing it, and yet winning the the match for 3 points.
