CEV European League 2018

Quoted from "Matthias" I just saw that Hungary's starting OPP Szedmak is only 16 years old (born September 2001) She performed very well and not at all like a 16 year old girl, I'd never have estimated her being that young Knowing this I think she's a great prospect. She is SIXTEEN? I thought she was an older pro. lol

CEV European League 2018

Quoted from "Matthias" Quoted from "saishuu" I'm watching HUN-FRA for whatever reason and I have a genuine question: how is France still not able to put together a decent team? Do they really not invest in female volleyball all that much? I've been asking myself the very same question, especially considering they have a fairly strong domestic league Yeah, that's exactly why! No disrespect to them whatsoever, but they seem like an amateur team. Plenty of teams without a league as strong as the F...

2018 / 2019 Transfer Rumors and Discussion

Quoted from "LDvolley" You have no idea what you're talking about, he made Argentina into a MUCH better team. Argentina under Weber used to struggle against Germany or Bulgaria B, now they can win games against Russia, Brazil or Serbia. Before he had also done the same with Iran. Argentina lost at the olympics because they simply faced the best team too early. Agreed. Argentina could've been a threat to any of the other teams in Rio. And I'm with Velasco in thinking Cebulj and Bednorz are not e...

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "Matthias" Quoted from "Sidney" So Plak has been officialy moved to OPP? I miss Pietersen As far as NT is concerned I think yes. And honestly considering her poor reception skills I think this position suits her better than OH. I agree. She doesn't seem to have improved her reception at all and she works just fine as OPP.

Trash Can Thread: All Volleyball related discussions

Regarding the whole Meliha/Hande topic: I don't think they'll be on the bench all season. In fact, they'll probably have plenty of opportunities to play in TL, perhaps just not against the other big 3. I wouldn't be surprised to see Meliha subbing in for both KYK and/or Larson throughout the season.

2018 / 2019 Transfer Rumors & Discussion

Hooker was a perfectly good team player in Minas, though. Players and audience alike loved her and she played there for two whole seasons. Sure she has a bad history, but geez, it's not like she signed with Galatasaray and canceled her contract once the season started. Quoted from "Meatballs" Wow Hooker must have some serious issues! She blocked three GS fans I know on twitter who expressed their dissapointment in a kind way. She also blocked me on twitter because I wrote "She missed a good oppo...

Italian NT 2018

Italy played without Egonu, Chirichella, Folie, the Bosetti sisters and De Gennaro, what are you guys expecting? This is basically an entirely new team with a bunch of newcomers and youngsters, they won't work miracles right out of the gate, especially against the strong competition they faced. Mazzanti took the main squad to the final of the GP last year and I believe he's the right fit for the team.

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "ossubtus" thanks, saishuu. well, both pena and gonzalez can be big hitters, and in 3rd set, they are totally killing KOR... the question is whether they can sustain that, and whether they can learn to hit smart, around the block... Yeah, my issue with Peña at least is that she tends to get in her head quite a bit, which causes her to make a ton of mistakes. She lacks refinement, but hopefully she can work on that spending an entire year with Bernardinho.

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "ryleybarnes" I mean how could they beat Brazil? Not to take away Germany's credit (they did perform quite well), but Brazil played like shit. It was basically a repeat of Montreux last year.

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "ossubtus" how did b. martinez do in ITA league this year? and pena in BRA? was she mostly on bench? Martinez was kinda meh, nothing special. But then, her team was a mess from the beginning too. Peña played quite a bit and was 50/50. She had some good games in the playoffs playing as OPP (I believe she scored 30 points or close to it in one). Sesc renewed with her for another season.

Happy to see Horikawa on court! If only Nabeya was with the team this week too... Great defense by Ishii in the last point of the set.

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Even if I think Serbia didn't have to use their bench in the most important match of the week, I do agree that VNL is important to be using the most players you can, which is why I'm enjoying the tournament this year so far. It's totally unpredictable and actually exciting to watch.

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "Matthias" Quoted from "saishuu" Quoted from "Matthias" Quoted from "pope" I agree...but he could have tested players against Japan and Germany... Players like Busa and Milenkovic aren't going to learn anything by playing against German bench, but by playing against Brazil's (current) starters they can. They can't learn anything from Japan and a team that beat Brazil, but they can learn from a Brazilian team without Garay, Thaísa, Natália, Dani Lins, Gabi (mostly)? Sure... Read more...

Why does Serbia always takes out Mihajlovic when things are going sour against Brazil? And then gives up the game once they see Brazil is in the game?
