2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "Matthias" Slightly off-topic: the award for the ugliest shirts definitely goes to Team USA It looks like they simply took the cheapest available. Agree. It was distracting

2018.05.20 Binh Dien Cup - Jiangsu v Bring It Promotions (USA) 3-2

Quoted from "jetmasters" Wu Han got robbed of the MVP award. Jolly good match, that. It wasn't clear to me how the USA team scored a point, let alone win the first two sets. What a comeback. The Tie-Break was smashing. China was squashing. And as if I need any more reason for Wu Han love, I have a real soft spot for players who can serve a bunch without choking at the end of a tough game. She served from 3-3 to 9-3 in the tiebreak. I wish she would have gone bunless, though. She looks more dang...

2018.05.17 VNL (Round 1) JPN v GER (3-1)

[25-21 , 25-23 , 21-25 , 25-17] Well ... at least Japan ended the gosh awful first round of competition with a win. The Good News Sarina Koga had a good game. Scored about 25. I saw a glimmer in her eye, and I think I witnessed Yuki seeing it too. That has to happen, folks, before we can move on. Mari Horikawa had a good game. And she's loud, literally and figuratively. Her kill % sucked but she was enough of a threat to allow Sarina Koga to have a good game. That's a good strategy. Mai Okumura ...

Award ceremonies are creepy as all get out. Creepy creepy creepy. And they always make the girls hang on to more stuff than any body with two hands can handle. And they are just creepy.

2018 VTV9 – Binh Dien Volleyball Cup Award

I love this fashion. Simply beautiful I think they are best middle blockers in traditional costume, or something. I dunno

2018.05.16 VNL (Round 1) JPN v BRA (1-3)

[25–22 , 18-25 , 23-25 , 11-25] Really fun games because practically the whole match was out of system. Balls flying around everywhere, bouncing off the net, off player elbows. Lots of overpasses, goofy stuff all around. The sad part is that Brazil played better defense than Japan. That should never happen, and there's the rub: Japan's identity as a team is not evident so far in this tournament. Japan has a libero problem Kotoe Inoue (L) is ailing from something. Not even close to 100%. Kotoe pl...

Quoted from "FAME" Quoted from "sitenoise" Wu Han always gets robbed. I wish I could see it. Those Chinese QQ Flash nonsensical things never work for me. If you're speaking of the Final Jiangsu - Bring It Promotions, i was watching it on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVsGn-t7vXA and the Award Ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhra7uCtWvA Thank you. I should have checked Volleyball Cup. I guess I thought this wouldn't rise to the occasion

Trash Can Thread: All Volleyball related discussions

Sometimes people use the term "better" to describe simply what they enjoy more. And then other people read that as something else. For example, I think the Japanese V.League is better than all these Euro leagues, but ....

2018 / 2019 Transfer Rumors & Discussion

Quoted from "Meatballs" We all know what professionals base their transfer decisions on, definitely not on how much they love a country. Extracting that statement away from all the Hooker nonsense which I don't care or know anything about, I think Foluke played in Japan for that reason. And the food.

Chinese NT 2018

I know I'm a broken record on this but I'm willing to bet the players care about results. And gosh darnit, no way do I believe Lang Ping doesn't care about winning gold at home in this meaningful and important tournament that goes on forever and allows for the chance to show she has a team and not just 6 players. Who would you say right now is China's full "A-team" that will start the finals? Seven players. Call it right now and we'll revisit. A "combination of A and B team members" is a team. S...

This is the perfect scenario for China, it seems. Players resting, and playing in other tournaments, forcing the issue of giving youngsters court time to see who floats up. Then they host the finals.
