2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Watching USA v NED. I don't want to give Foluke back. She should go for Japanese citizenship. Play with them. Start working on that now

What's your Favorite Match?

@canter ask me in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League thread what I thought of how Japan was doing. I grumbled. A couple others offered opinions. Saori Sakoda's name came up (my first Volleyball True Love), as did a few others from the good old days. Instead of drifting off topic there I thought I'd move to the Trash Can and put things in context of a question I've wanted to ask here for a long time: Do you have a favorite match that just gives you goosebumps when you watch it? As a ...

Vnl 2018

Quoted from "akitoakie" i cannot download the match between BRA vs TUR from the sportdeutschland.tv i don't know why. anyone has links for HD replay for the match with English speaking commentator? It's just not up yet. Same with CHN v POL. Sometimes it takes a while, but this is unusual. You can tell when it's ready if the preview image shows a length of time. I'm waiting for it too for the English commentating

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "akitoakie" I miss Kimura's presence on court. she has always been that calm queen that holds everyone together. What's interesting to me ... if you pay close attention to MB Nana Iwasaka, she's got a lot of Saori's "big smile-this is fun-I love you all" group hug action going on. I can see why she's picked as captain. She's just not a wing spiker who gets camera time and big adrenaline jumping around. It's subtle. I may have been mislead but I thought Koga was supposed to fill thos...

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "Canter" what about your fav. players from Japanese league..are you happy with their perf. so far ? I'm suicidal re: Japan's performance. Koga had one good game. Horikawa (OP) has had a couple good sets. Yuki Ishii has had some good digs and kills but overall is way sub-par. I'm confident Libero Kitoe Inoue has a hidden injury somewhere because she's playing at about 65% capacity, and she's backed up by two other Liberos who've never played at international level. I'm cool with MBs ...

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

This subject came up earlier in this thread, and I’m not sure but I think maybe somebody posted to an official announcement about it. To the best of my knowledge, which is not a lot to go on, floor touch challenge debuted with the VNL.

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "saishuu" Agreed! It's honestly shocking to me how people still underestimate Thailand. They are not just any team that can fall prey easily to European teams. Thailand's time is coming. The kids are coming up and doing okay. Nootsara and Pleumjit are in their mid-30s I hope they can last until Thailand qualifies for their first Olympics in 2020. They deserve it and I think they will make it. They are more fun to watch offensively these days than Japan, and they are about the same d...

Japanese NT 2018

Quoted from "pope" I`m worried about Nagaoka....1 year without playing?? That`s a lot.....something is not right... Unless they want to make sure she will be back only when she`s 100%...but still it is concerning. Quoted On April 30th, the Hisamitsu Springs faced high school team Kinrankai in the Japanese Volleyball Association’s Kurowashihata (Black Eagle Flag) Invitational Tournament. The Springs also had a surprise for the Kinrankai team, Japanese national team player Miyu Nagaoka would be m...

Japanese NT 2018

Quoted from "pope" They are not even fun to watch.... That's what's killing me. I really don't care if they lose games if they at least put up a fight. They are without Nagaoka and Nabeya, though, but who knows about Nagaoka. Sometimes injuries end an NT career, at least in the way Ebata drifted away. Japan has a libero problem Have I mentioned that Their defense just plain sux all around.

2018.05.20 Binh Dien Cup - Jiangsu v Bring It Promotions (USA) 3-2

Quoted from "jetmasters" Wu Han got robbed of the MVP award. Jolly good match, that. It wasn't clear to me how the USA team scored a point, let alone win the first two sets. What a comeback. The Tie-Break was smashing. China was squashing. And as if I need any more reason for Wu Han love, I have a real soft spot for players who can serve a bunch without choking at the end of a tough game. She served from 3-3 to 9-3 in the tiebreak. I wish she would have gone bunless, though. She looks more dang...

2018.05.17 VNL (Round 1) JPN v GER (3-1)

[25-21 , 25-23 , 21-25 , 25-17] Well ... at least Japan ended the gosh awful first round of competition with a win. The Good News Sarina Koga had a good game. Scored about 25. I saw a glimmer in her eye, and I think I witnessed Yuki seeing it too. That has to happen, folks, before we can move on. Mari Horikawa had a good game. And she's loud, literally and figuratively. Her kill % sucked but she was enough of a threat to allow Sarina Koga to have a good game. That's a good strategy. Mai Okumura ...
