FIVB World Tour 2018

Quoted from "saishuu" Not sure where to post this, but the Alison/Bruno Schmidt duo (OG champions in Rio) have split. I would also post it here, it is fine as it is. But what happened and why? Who are their respective new partners?

2018 / 2019 Transfer Rumors and Discussion

So, if Bruno is really going in direction Civitanova, why did he initiate the whole Stoychev-is-the-Devil circus just to get him fired? Both troublemakers left Modena, the club they so passionately loved and to which they declared their eternal love and loyalty. This is just ridiculous and unprofessional, in my opinion. And whereas we all know how the Ngapeth deal will end in Russia, I am very curious to see how long Bruno will feel "motivated" in Civitanova. Is there some background behind the ...

Men's World Championship 2018

Quoted from "andrea" Quoted from "Rains" No Sokolov for the NT season. He will undergo knee surgery on June 4. It's not the first time that Sokolov misses the NT season. It's a pity that Bulgaria NT has lost the most important player again. Has the Bulgarian volleyball federation ever discussed with Lube the timing of the surgery, for example, the beginning of the club season? The Federation surely not, perhaps only Konstantinov, but he already declared that he hadn't talked to Sokolov. It was ...

2018 Volleyball Nations League (VNL)

Well, Bulgaria is also the smallest country of all elite teams It is a non-negligible fact when it comes to roster depth. If we consider Slovenia (theoretically, and only as of recently) in that elite group, then only Slovenia has a smaller population and they might be considered a part just because of the current "golden" generation. So, quite naturally, Bulgaria has always had a limited choice and it is of no minor significance that they have quite often been in the world's elite despite the d...

CEV Champions League 2018

Last night I saw the reason why I was disappointed with Perugia's win against Lube at the semifinals last year. We would've had another classy final in Rome, too. Perugia, albeit just crowned as the new Italian champion, might play better than Lube in Italy at times, including all home matches, but I trust Lube more when it comes to those international battles. I think that even from a neutral perspective it felt quite overwhelming that Lube almost did the impossible on Kazan's own turf. An incr...

CEV Champions League 2018

Quoted from "Rains" Quoted from "YavorD" Please, comments about female volleyball players don't belong here! Yeah, I was also surprised there is almost no discussion going on here Where is everybody? I used to have pages and pages to read before I could write something. Before I go anywhere close to the two semifinals I wanted to once again stress on the ridiculous amount of unprofessionalism surrounding volleyball. Laola1, as official online broadcaster, had streaming and sound sync issues, gr...

Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2017/18

For a second season in a row Heynen loses the title in the final play-offs in a pretty much similar fashion. True, Friedrichshafen were the favourites this year, but we knew it right from the beginning of the season that they will crumble the moment they meet an in-form physical team. Berlin had had a fluctuating and even disappointing season but played very consistently during the finals and especially yesterday. It was exactly the physical team that Friedrichshafen were always meant to suffer ...

Bulgarian NT 2018

Quoted from "Rains" For Bratoev, Are the other setters not as good as him? I think Seganov should've more chances. Bulgarian NT is getting really old with this choices too. Unfortunately, none of them is. Bulgaria will be in deep trouble (not that they flourish with him) if Georgi Bratoev isn't available. Even when he is imprecise, out-of-form, and slow, he is still the better option. Seganov is a logical choice N2 in this roster. Although, I have to admit, Seganov improved massively since movi...

technical problems/missing posts

Quoted from "shade79@wp.pl" Hi, I got some problems with my username... I haven't used this account for a long time and I forgot my password. Of course I used option of lost password, then I changed it, everything should be fine. Now I see (and probably everyone else sees) that also my username changed and now my email is also my username. It looks weird. I don't understand why it happened and I think I can't change it back myself. Can you help me please? Based on your PM response, things seem ...

Quoted from "ossubtus" does anyone know if joão miguel josé MB is still playing? No, he doesn't play anymore. Don't ask me when he quit, I can't remember. He is the head coach of the Portuguese team Fonte Bastardo from the Azores islands. Here is the proof, they played in the Challenge Cup this year: stats team picture

2018 / 2019 Transfer Rumors and Discussion

Quoted from "powsoff" Quoted from "YavorD" Quoted from "powsoff" Big changes will be coming to Belgorod - that team truly deserved a good kick in their gluteus. What are the rumours? Those are rather declarations than rumours. The local volleyball tzar Shipulin is once again quitting. This still can be very much undone, however may affect the budget for next season, which is going to be cut anyway. Atm, Belgorod has lost two opps and the main setter. Poroshin is not bad and potentially can deve...

Bulgarian NT 2018

Quoted from "tomen" I remember Valentin Bratoev has announced his retirement from Bulgarian NT in 2015. Therefore, does he go back on what he said? Well, kind of. He and his twin brother talked to Konstantinov before the NT season last year already and both sides made some compromises. Compromises mostly from the Bratoev twins actually. Valentin was already in the wide roster in 2017 but he underwent surgery last year, so he was only theoretically in the NT. This year he might play a bigger rol...

Croatian NT 2018

Correct me if I am wrong, but that looks like the best possible roster of available players, right? Or am I forgetting someone? They can do some damage. The only uncertainty I have with this roster is the second MB position. Apart from Mihalj, I have to admit, I don't know anyone else. Who has better chances?

Italy – Superlega 2017/2018

Quoted from "Kk15" On the other hand, Modena is exploded: instead of only Bruno and Ngapeth, all the team decided to show up together to a well known local tv program and practically said that nobody is happy with Stoytchev. Is probably a first in the story of Italian volleyball... (not that everybody dislike the coach, but the public and collective statement). It's not clear if the society (or someone in it) knew about it or even accorded the permission to do that. Then Modena broke the contra...

2018 CEV U18 European Championship

Congratulations to the German team, first of all! I didn't watch much of the last two days and I can't say whether the MVP was a deserved one, although the German opposite John played his role throughout the tournament, but I kind of feel happy for Simon Pfretzschner (don't try to pronounce his last name). Not because of the stats, don't get me wrong. He is a member of ASV Dachau, perhaps the oldest serious and most decorated club in south-eastern Germany and especially in Bavaria. He was part o...

European Championship 2001

Well, about 10 years after this thread got dead, I am writing here with good news On YouTube, in a channel created by one of our friends here from the forum actually, there are some matches from the tournament recorded in the Netherlands. So far, thanks to rutracker and LightMaster back then, we could watch the medal games and actions from Pool A with the hosts and Russia. Now there are finally some actions from Pool B and the non-Russian semifinal (Czech Rep. vs. Italy), too. Enjoy! France vs. ...
