After second day Columbia got second win and a berth in the semis as group winner, so Peru vs. Hungary will decide regarding second place and last semi participant. In the other pool Australia is already out and both Bulgaria and Puerto Rico qualified, they will decide in direct match regarding place 1 and 2 in the group.

After long negotiations Jennifer Geerties stays in Schwerin, likely the CL participation was a factor for her decision.

FIVB VNL Challenger Cup

While Bulgaria won easily in three sets against Australia in the first match, Columbia stunned hosts Perus also in three. Remember, that the first two teams of three of both pools will meet in the semis.

Bulgarian NT player Silvana Chaushéva from Busto Arsizio (like Sarah Wilhyte for Stuttgart too short times on court there) comes as OH to Potsdam. Since in Bulgarian NT she is labeled OPP, she might also occasionally replace Marta Drpa?

Poland - Liga Siatkówki Kobiet 2018/19

Quoted from "Phil" Here you can find the average numbers for polish teams (only polish league included without polish and european cups): https://m.sportowefakty.wp.pl/siatkowka/…d-blisko-dekady Really low numbers for Chemik because they played in that weird small hall in Police not in Netto Arena as previous years. Thanks, this clarifies, why the Lodz derby was kind of record match; that the big Azoty/Netto Arena became too expensive for Chemik, we have learned before.

Poland - Liga Siatkówki Kobiet 2018/19

Slightly off-topic: in this overview of attendance of European volleyball teams I miss most Polish women's teams: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1…b7eU/edit#gid=0 Especially Police, both teams from Lodz and Developres SkyRes Rzeszow (men's team Asseco Resovia Rzeszow is there) are not listed, also no team from Romania. Since I saw a tweet about a Lodz derby in 10.000 seat Atlas Arena, when Grot Budowlani wrote, they had nearly 7.000 in attendance. Has anybody numbers from those locations...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2018/2019

Quoted from "MariaOzawaFan" Amanda Benson to Dresdner SC. DSC The US libero players are currently lacking in quality compared to a few years ago - I hope, that Benson can keep the promises for Dresden though. Meanwhile Slowakian (really not the strongest country in Europe in this sports) middle Sandra Szabóova joined Potsdam - also I hope, that she can keep up with our leagues level.

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2018/2019

Slighty off-topic: German (at times NT) player Laura Emonts (Weihenmaier) goes from Prostejov (Czech republic) to Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece. While the last club pays well for sure, this is one of the issues of the league: some German players go abroad and (never?) come back, despite the level of the league and some clubs would be adequate for them.

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2018/2019

Quoted from "Matthias" Aachen signs Belgian OH Jodie Guilliams. She currently plays as L in NT but they sign her as OH. IMO their OH position looks rather weak with Oude Luttikhuis, Jasper and now Guilliams None of them is a powerful attacker like Adams/Daalderop were for them in the last two years. At least against strong teams like Stuttgart she will have a hard time to make points at the net - we saw her in CEV cup last season against Asterix as OH, she was far away from the attack efficienc...

The board of DVV around Thomas Krone, the German national volleyball federation, has retired. There was too much tension regarding a project of the board, declined by most, if not all state federations after consulting their clubs. Since I expect, that the state federations will now install a board of their own, it will be interesting, if they will than dismiss Koslowski as federal coach due to the discussion about him because of being head coach of Schwerin too?

FIVB VNL Challenger Cup

Quoted from "ossubtus" no ray santos or noemi santos for PUR? PUR without cruz (retired), morales (retired), karina o. and enright, will be depleted and rebuilding, but santana is having a great season, and the young MB, alba hernandez (208 cm), seems to be rapidly improving... sheila ocasio tested positive for banned drugs at the pan am games (2015?) and was banned... but she was never very good anyway... anyone know what the BUL roster was against HUN? FIVB VNL Challenger Cup

Quoted from "ossubtus" surprised to see HUN in there... would have thought teams like AZE, CRO and UKR would be higher than HUN... Hungary has improved in the last years and especially their OH duo Sandor/Szakmary is doing well.

FIVB VNL Challenger Cup

It seems to be complete chaos in some continental federations: Kazakzstan refused indeed to play and was replace by Australia (monetary reasons? I don't know) and Africa didn't hold any qualification tournament, so they were excluded and Columbia was directly in the challenger tournament in Lausanne. Participants as of now (I hope, this is now fixed): Bulgaria Hungary Australia Puerto Rico Peru Columbia Likely Bulgaria and Puerto Rico are the best, with an advantage for Bulgaria, especially if m...

DVV Cup 2018/2019

Today was the draw for DVV Cup 2018/2019 and there is a clash of two top teams: Stuttgart (three times winner) hosts Dresden (five times winner and title defenders) in first round The other first league duels should be also respective even more in favour of the hosts: Schwerin vs. Vilsbiburg Wiesbaden vs. Erfurt All other 5 first league professional teams will play abroad on not yet determined amateur team host sites (at most second league).

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Also on day two in Porsche Arena Stuttgart the attendance was very low, again just below 1.400 compared to 6.100 seats. Both matches were interesting, in the second Drewniok managed not bad replacing injured hard-hitter Lippmann . German media criticised for no good reason (IMHO) both defeats, and another defeat against Netherlands today seems likely to me. But all three opponents of the pool are (now) partipicants of Final 6 in Nanjing, so for me Germany was underdog before this pool got launch...

Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2018/2019

There is a controversial discussion regarding Felix Koslowski, who is currently head coach of both German NT and Schwerin. Keep in mind, that everybody expects a similar rule like in Poland and Italy for season 2019/2020 and later, in the beginning there will likely 1 or 2 domestic players be required to be on court for every team in matches of duty. There was an article on a Stuttgarter newspaper about it: Stuttgarter ZN article (German) . Critique was articulated by Stuttgarts sports director ...

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

Quoted from "carteblanche" C'mon Germany. You can do it. It's a Chinese B team. But it is a chinese team - and as usually ruining all German efforts at the end. It is now already nine (!) years, the last time a (than much better) German NT could defeat China. Generally speaking: lousy attendance of the match, only 1.400 persons in hall (capacity 6.100!), but many Chinese fans, even without Zhu Ting, much more than Turkish fans (I tried to promote Turkey in this leg of VNL to two organisations, ...
