Bulgarian Team

  • but unofficially they confirmed (after a number of questions by the Bulgarian side) that Matey has a huge lead anyway.

And i have opposite "unofficial informations" that the award will get Miguel Angel Falasca

Honestly he deserved the most of these 3 for 2007.
Falasca: Euroleague gold, european championship gold, award of the best setter in Cup of the World
Grbić: only bronze in european championships
Kazijski: hmmm only qualification to Olimpic Games

Of course in a moment some pople write that it`s not "only" for Matey but objectively it`s not a medal, not an award, only qualification which let them fight for a medal in Bejing.

Awards are subjective most of the time... not every award is fair given, awards are not a criteria unless the player deserves most.

  • Falasca is a great setter. No argues about that, although in the terms of setting I personally go for Grbic. Besides Grbic also has this “only qualification to the OG” on his account. Something that Falasca does not. I’ve heard that Cuba is preparing a wonderful team and Falasca and Spain may be left without this very important “only” even after the qualification round in Dusseldorf. But that is not the point – Europe’s number 1 player is not an award for the achievements of a team but of a player. It’s about the guy that makes you say “WOW. That’s not humanly possible”. With your hand on your heart – who’s that guy out of Grbic, Falasca and Kazijsky. ;)

True but he qualified with Serbia in january 2008 not 2007 so it doesn`t count for being the best in 2007 :)

  • Wow... So much nationalism and so many harsh words here... Bulgarian NT loses a lot of fans because of some guys who are a bit blind to see where exactly stays Bulgaria in volleyball. I'm Bulgarian too and I love my country and my team BUT I try to be realistic too.

Since the change in the political system in 1989, Bulgaria is having much trouble finding herself and its roots (which were well hidden during the soviet era).
So it is easy to comprehend all the nationalism that spread away. We have to define ourselves once again. In Bulgaria the media say we are the greatest Balkan country, but the problem is that so do the other Balkan media too...

The facts now say that Bulgaria may have victories over all of the greatest teams that play nowadays, but still has no major succes (1st or 2nd place in a big tournament) with this generation. Bulgarian NT has a lot of quality players who perform amazingly in their respective clubs, but we still lack tactics and a team play. We don't have a suprising setting and a good defense, so we're definitely not the most balanced team in terms of components of the game. We crush the others with powerful serve, attack and block, but that's pretty much all. We are able to beat everyone, but we are still not constant enough. We are still an old-school team that relies on its own play rather to focus on the others' play, and to adapt the strategies and the tactics accordingly for every singe match.

In volleyball history we have always been one of the major competitors worldwide, ever since the WW1 that brought this lovely game to Europe. We were never THE best, but yet, one of the best. We had some very strong generations (late 60's, the 80's and maybe the 90's), and they proved that not only powerful countries with big population and huge funding can produce quality sport (in this case - volleyball). So, I think that if we bring all the factors together - political, economic, demographic and so on, we could find that Bulgaria was and still is a powerhouse in volleyball despite the small role it plays on the political and economic scene.

And a few words about Kaziyski - he may be the strongest hitter (and server) in the world, he has so much spirit and power (I admire him for this), but still he has to learn a lot about reception and defense, so he is not yet a complete player and we can't compare him with Giba for example. He's not a god, at least not yet :-)

    Peace, please!
    :drink:

  • Thanks for your post! Everybody wants peace here without any exageration. It's good to know a ADULT person from Bulgaria who can use arguments not only stupid nationalism. Tha fact is they "guys" are kids...

  • Gottlib, as usual i won't comment him, strandja, I respect what you have written and I claim that I know exactly where our team is in the world of volleyball. I see you are thinking right, so will you say that the post of "Found" is not proper and right... do we award the teams or the players, and what's the point of doing this if we compare it with the achievements of the teams.. We can't say only what it's good for us, i agree what you have written about bulgarian volleyball, it's pretty like that, about the other - who said that Giba is God, if it was - so he was the best, which is a fact, so if Matey has something to more to learn... who hasn't...

  • I can say it for a fact now - Matey Kazijsky is N1 player in Europe for 2007 :drink: . There was an official call of the CEV office to the Bulgarian volleyball federation, and they confirmed what we knew unofficially - it is the Bulgarian who wins. The award will be presented to Matey at 20th of April.

I like Kazjski, but I just HATE the way some Bulgarians rub it on our faces how good he is....

Maybe I should encourage Brazilian people to say we are the best, the Russians to say that nobody spikes like Poltavsky, and the Poles to say that nobody receives like Winiarski......... :whistling:

  • This thread isn't true, right...? I'm dreaming... 8|

I just want to say to Afroman and to the kid who started the thread to be more tolerant. There is so much hate, I can't believe it's true. I'm Bulgarian too but I don't like at all what you are saying.
The volleyball isn't just the Bulgarian NT, it's a very exciting and interesting game. What do you know about it outside of the NT?!
Yes, our team is good but it isn't the best. It's the best for its supporters - like you... There is some subjectivity here.
I want to say so much but my english is so poor. :(

Matey Kaziyski is a very good player, but let's leave the specialists say who is the best player for them.

  • I don't rub anything I just shared with you what I know about who the Number 1 European player for 2007 will be. It is not me who says "Matey is the best in Europe", it's the specialists, as sNeige says. As for the note about how good Brasil is - I agree, if you start a topic about the brasilian NT I'll be the first to say that they play supernatural. The same goes for Poltavsky - as a journalist on the European championship in Moscow I voted for him to be MVP, although most of the journalists voted for their own national players. I'm sorry if you undertood my post for Matey like a nag. I just knew information that has not been published in the papers and agencies yet, and I wanted to share it with you, I thought that this was the forum about.

  • I just want to thank sNeige and Strandja for sensible and reasonable posts. It is good to read things like that

    The most important 3:
    POLAND-SZCZECIN-VOLLEYBALL

    5th place - Prediction Game - World League 2011 :D

  • And I just want to say that I don't hate any player, I am jsut saying the facts and some of you are trying to be original... Matey Kaziysky is the best without no doubt, it's useless to argue.

Той вече вибрира, скача, лети, нанася удар. Чува се глух звук. Топката изчезва. Поглед върху лицата в другата половина на полето. Усмивка. Триумф. 30 секунди...България - това е съвършенството в този свят. Отново."
