World Championship Japan 2010

  • Absolutely true. But how many of those victories were out of Japan? Or Asia generally? :) I'd like to see Japan in WCh in Europe.

You are right :D (almost) All those victories were in Japan, in front of a crowd of thousands screaming girls ;)

  • I'm really looking forwrd to watching Poland- Korea on Saturday, however I don't believe in Poland's win. If we hadn't defeated Japan ?( I would change the starting six to:
    Okuniewska, Gajgal MB
    Wolosz SETTER
    Glinka ATTACK
    Kosek, Werblinska RECEPTION
    Zenik LIBERO
Sure that it would lead Poland into Semis. And back to the real, I would be proud if we win 3 times.

  • I wasn't expected that my NT will win all five mathes but I just can't look when they are loosing like with Japan and Serbia. This matches could be won - especially the one with Japan, and now we need a miracle to get to f4.

I hope girls will win with Korea, but I'm not so sure - Korean girls are looking really good.

And to not talk only about Polish NT I like Russian NT on this WCH. I wish them luck.

  • What do you think about the changes Poland or Turkey to get semis! I think if the both teams will win their all matches in group E they can play in F4..The first matches will show everything!!

  • Iwonka
It'll be four matches, not five ;) I think our team has changes and match against Korea will verify our chances for semifinals

About starting line-up against Korea: I don't think so that it'll be look like you are expecting, I think that coach Matlak give chance the same players as in matches against Serbia nad Japan, it'll be like this:
    L Zenik
    S Sadurek OP Kaczor
    MB's Gajgał Okuniewska
    OH's Werblińska, Glinka

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • Kondzio - why four? We won 3 mathes and loose 2. If they won with Serbia and Japan they would won five.

I don;t like this starting six. I think te reception is too week. But on the other hand Kaczor plays really good so I wouldn't change her for Glinka (and I can't imagine Glinka not in the starting six).

    I'm happy tahat I'm not a coach :)

  • Where is Bednarek? why is she not playing? ?(

She injured thumb in match with Serbia. I hope she will be back for second round, but I have not heard anything yet.

And back to the real, I would be proud if we win 3 times.

As long as girls give good effort :box: , I will be proud of team no matter results.

Wołosz has been quite nice in matches I have seen. I expect Sadurek will start, but maybe coach will go to bench more quickly if needed. Kaczor also playing better than in WGP.

  • I appreciate the affort of Polish girls but I won't be proud if they will lost important endings like with Japan.

  • Ok, my lovely dreamers:) Stop flying. If Poland wins two matches, it will be great succes. We are out of form and without coach, who can lead us to the winning series.

Turkey had very big chance to reach semi-final, but this lost match with Korea unfortunately made this advance very difficult :( But in my opinion Turkey have better situation than Poland, because we have to beat Russia.

  • After first round of World Championships I can say that Poland hasn't done their plan. I think they should lose no more then 1 match...The girls still speak about medal so I expect that a hope hasn't died yet :)

For me it's important to achieve 5-8 places because of ranking points.I always think about the Olympic Games, gualification procces etc. I remember that 15th place on WCH 2006 made a lot of problems for us and only bacause of World Cup 2007 wild card we could patricipate in intercontnental qualification tournament. And it's important to take better place than others European teams. So...I would like the girls to beat Turkey and it would be nice if from group F advanced non-european teams, for example BRA, USA, CUB and THA. OK, maybe Italy instead of THA. :)

  • In an interview after the game .. The Brazilian players commented that the motivation to beat Italy was the provocation that the Italians before the game .. Adenizia was hit by a ball on purpose .. Giola and Thaisa exchanged insults the entire game .. I request all opponents of Brazil to do the same thing against our players .. Happens because when provoked what happened on 3 set..

I don't think that's the case. In the 90's the Cuban players were always provoking the Brazilian players and Cuba always beat Brazil in the most important competitions.

When it comes to the last match between Brazil and Italy, what happened was that before the match started, Adenizia was hit in the face by a ball Gioli delivered, if I am not mistaken. The Brazilian girls said that this was an extra motivation for them in the match, nothing more than that. As for the so-called "Thaísa-Gioli insult exchanging", what really happened was that Gioli scored a point using Thaísa's block and yelled at her face to celebrate instead of turning to celebrate with her teammates, then, when Thaísa blocked Gioli in another point, she did the same thing. For me this is very normal and should stop when the match is over. I see no sense at all in being proud of such an occurrence.

As for the score 25-7 in the third set, I believe Italy just stopped fighting for the match while Brazil kept their rhythm. If we take the WGP matches into account, the same thing happened in the match ITA vs. USA in the final round. The US team had won the first two sets, 25-23 and 25-20, if I am not mistaken and in the third set they have beaten Italy 25-14. That only proves one thing, Italy stopped fighting. Of course Brazil's team has its merits, but this score has a lot more to do with the lack of concentration of the Italian team than with Brazil's team excellent game.

I think there's no room for such things anymore. Such provocations are part of the folkloric rivalry between Brazil and Italy and may amuse some volleyball fans. I am 100% convinced that if Brazil's girls want to reach somewhere in this competition, they should focus on the matches to come, not on the polemic moments of the match against Italy.

  • I agree with celso. At the end of the game Thaisa with a smile said bye to every Italian player and her smile was not ironic or sarcastic, but sincere. As celso said there is a rivalry between the two teams, but after the game all ends.

  • CElso, I think for teh first time I agree with you!!!hehehehe :win:

brasilians were very childish to give little rivalry so importance, that are so much more important things to consern in a tournament like that!

And lets be honest, the brasilians said "someone" (no one said who) hit a ball in Adenisia....as if that was not normal in volleyball!!!!!But brasilians were so consummed with this rivalry thing that the world was against them, and everything was to provoque...commom on grow up! Italians have more important things to care about, like playing better, then be provoquing brasilians, also cause is not their style. In every interview italians show big respect for brasilian players. Of cours inside a match everyone wants to win, but everything has a limit.

Thaisa and Gioli screammed at each other during two balls, like Celso put, is not that that happened all the time (like it used to be against cuba), Jaque always scream in har attacks and no one says anything about it....that is part of the game! and I'm not saying that Italian girls are saints, but they let whatever happens inside a match to stay inside a match, inside court like Celso put it. For the simple fact that is part of the game.

    And just adding...
Brasilians won the match, and let the victory take their head in my opinion...I think some of the comments after the match were really disrespectfull against the italians....like Jaqueline saying its cool to serve in Piccinini cause she dont recieve very well. I mean, as if Jaque always played really well! And would be a disrespctfull coment even if she was talking about a Kenya player! I mean, they are all players, they should respect each other. Piccinini played bad in reception? she did...so what, that dont gives you the right to go out having fun and laughting after the match about that.

Or Fabiana saying Piccinini is full of presumption, and stayed messing with her (that is not provoque?but ok). I mean.....does FAbiana even know Piccinini really to say that about her? Speacilly in the press....She can even have that impression but if you dont know, then dont talk about...cause I'm sure a lot of brasilains also think Fabiana is up nose, so she shouldnt say anything about the others...I didnt like, they were disrespectfull in my opinion....I'm really disapoitted with Jaque and FAbiana coments after match.
Istead be worring in what to say to Italians, they should worry that is still a hole tournament ahead them...

I didn't say it will look like this, I mentioned that my starting six could be better and would have given us two wins against Serbia and Japan.
Good look girls on Saturday, no matter how the starting six will look like.

  • Korea is not playing such a spectacular volleyball I won't be surprised if teams from Pool A beats them.
