cuba is good. but i honestly believe no one plays in the same league as brazil and the only way i can them losing any matches is if fofao gets injured or they would be too tired because the coaching staff seems to want to play with the same lineup every single time.
and it's not yet the end of poland. they could still get in with a 3 or 4 set victory against USA (which they can) because their loss was a 5 setter. i kind of expected they would lose to japan anyways.

Agree with Joana. Other than Brazil, Italy and Cuba..all of the "stronger" teams have dramatically lost their games. USA, Russia, Serbia, Poland to name. The Poland- USA game will be a good match up. Poland will come out strong so as not to miss the opportunity of going into the quarterfinals, while USA will also be coming out strong (Wiz Bachman's mom is now stable and is able to speak). But that game will also be "solely" dependent on the outcome of USA-China game. I hope that the teams like Russia, Serbia, Poland and USA will peak on the right game.

About the strongest in the league, I'll reserve my opinions after the Italy-Brazil game. But to me, Brazil seems invincible as of the moment. Cuba is the darkhorse and might just end up killing one of those better teams.
-
What concerns me is not the fact that Brazil team will get tired because the same players are playing all the matches. Firstly because the team's aim was to reach the top of its form at the OG and secondly because Brazil has been playing short matches, so far Brazil played only 9 sets, and only one of them was not short. My concern lies on the fact that some players like Jaqueline, Thaísa, Valeskinha and Carol may lose their rhythm since they have not been playing.

Polish defeat against Japan hurts much... Poland started to played when were losing 2:0. It is sad, that good performance by Skowrońska or Skorupa didn't give a win to us. It hurts twice, because Japan is not a strong team and have now chances in 1/4 I think.
Glinka not so good as she should be, but the biggest disappointing were Podolec, Bednarek and Sadurek. Bednarek should have been a hero above the net while Japanese are not tall at all.
Off course, when the team don't have good results, it is always coach, who is under the fire. But... I wouldn't blame Bonitta for everything. That was not the coach, who didn't save the easiest balls yesterday and shot the balls in the out few times in the row (Rosner)
The girls lost it, because of their many terible simple errors
The nightmares from WCH in 2006 are coming back...
I don't believe we are capable of beating USA in this situation, so the 1/4 are in the zone of dreams.
Cuba is great and I,m glad thet, they beat China. It wouldn't be normal, if China won everything in these OG
-
They didn't have the team spirit,so they didn't have any idears how to play the game. Each girl played her own game, they didn't played as a team.I think Bednarek played wery good especialy her serves were wery effition.I was desepointed from Podolec and Sadurek.Bonnita should replace Sadurek with Skorupa sooner then he did.

I dont know, if i should be happy for not seeing the match Pol - Jpn or if i should be angry.
Japan is a decent team, but I cant stand it when it plays against Poland, because there is always some bad vibe between the teams.Judging from the comments here, polish middles are just actors on the court. I guess just Gajgal plays decently or?
Imo, Kaczor (or Rosner) should have stayed at home. She is a good player but not very important. And i guess you all know whom i would have taken...
Gajgal and Dziekiewicz can block at least and eventhough they are not that tall, but they can jump, what i sometimes miss from Bednarek and Liktoras.I really hope they will make it to the finals, but i highly doubt it.
Not everybody can have luck as Russia and Serbia.

Gajgał didn't play a second yesterday
-
As I said many time's, Bonnita made teriblle mistake that he left Lena at home.It realy shows that the block is not so effition as it should be.

I have completely no idea

Gajgał didn't play a second yesterday

you cant be serious
She is the only one from the Middles, who showed a good perfomance lately... But Bonitta prefers to have a not fit Liktoras and the unemotional Bednarek? weird...Im not really sure, if Dziekiewicz could have had changed anything. Cos she was not in a very good shape lately, but it seems that more than the half of the team isnt either.
I just miss the positive energy which i saw GP (2007) and in HalleThe girls have great potential, i hope they will find somebody, who will show them how to use it the right way someday.

Unfortuantely, I am very serious. Her you have roster and statistics:
Milena Sadurek (1 pkt), Maria Liktoras (10), Agnieszka Bednarek (8), Anna Podolec (3), Małgorzata Glinka (27), Katarzyna Skowrońska-Dolata (24), Mariola Zenik (libero) oraz Milena Rosner (11), Joanna Kaczor, Katarzyna Skorupa (2), Anna Barańska. -
Konrad is right Gajgal didn't played yestorday. So,I don't know Nastja what kind of game did you watch yestorday.I don't agry with the fact that Gajgal play better then Liktoras.
-
What do you mean by luck? Because if you mean the group drawings, I can only laugh at the idea that Japan makes yours a "death group". Russia would NEVER lose to Japan. Or do you think if we changed groups we wouldn't qualify?

Actually, both groups had 4 teams who should advance easily, but you lost to Japan, which is unnaceptable, and very embarassing. As a matter of fact, THEORICALLY, our group was a lot harder, because it had the three teams perceived as the best in the world. Of course now we can see Russia isn't one of the three, but you can't deny before the OG Russia, Brazil and Italy were the most favourite to win the OG.

I didnt watch the match at all
But im just surprised to read that Liktoras and Bednarek are wasting time on court. I dont know how Liktoras played yesterday, but im sure it wasnt so much better than the past 2 matches.
And in my opinion Gajgal deserves to get the chance to play more often. I dont care for whom, Liktoras or Bednarek -

Im not saying that Pool A is a deathgroup but the teams seem at least more equal.
And the way Russia plays right now, im not even sure if they won against Japan.Russia (also serbia) can play shit now, but still they will advance cos Kaz and Alg are no opponents.
-
But if Gajgal get's her place in the team then we will never see Lena playing. If it wasn't so, then Lena would be in Beijing instad of Gajgal. So, what's gona be?
-
I think it is almost impossible for Russia to lose to Japan, even playing like total shit, like we are now. The match against KAZ was a good example of that, because it was very easy even with our very low level of play - ok, you might argue Japan is stronger than Kazakhstan, but you get the idea. Maybe Serbia could lose, but I still think this is not very likely.
But it is a pity, Brazil or Italy are going to breeze through the quarterfinal.
PS: I only watched the sets Poland won against Cuba and China - I think I was giving luck to Poland.
- so I will have to ask you, why happened to Poland? The weakest point of Poland has always been reception, or so I think; was that the main problem? -
I think Bonita should go away. He's not the right one for coaching this team. He doesn't speaks polish very good so he can't tell the emotions wich are really important I think and yesterday when I watched the match Poland - Japan it seems like the girls don't listen to Bonita during the time outs. I think communication's one if the most important things for a team sport and if it doesn't work a team can't be part of the worlds best...

I don't agree with you.
1) Bonitta speaks Polish very well, if we consider he is an Italian
2) Other "Polish foreigners" speaks almost no Polish (Lozano - uses mostly Italian and Beenhakker - English)
3) Although Lozano and Beenkakker don't speak our language, it didn't disturb them to succed (volleyball team took silver in 2006 and footbalers qualified to the Euro)
4) Last year Bonitta sppoke Polish worse than now, but Poles played betterSo, I wouldn't say, that language is our biggest problem...
