Montreux 2009

  • I think they will take their B team to Montreux. Also Barbolini doesn't seem to go there but stay in Italy with the main team.

yes..the hole call from barbolini is this:

    Setters:
    Manuela Di Crescenzo
    Eleonora Lo Bianco
    Gulia Pincerato
    Giulia Rondon

    OH:
    Veronica Angeloni
    Cristina Barcellini
    Lucia Bosetti
    Antonella Del Core
    Francesca Piccinini
    Simona Rinieri
    Manuela Secolo
    Natalia Viganó

    Opposites:
    Taismary Aguero
    Serena Ortolani
    Annamaria Quaranta
    Monica Ravetta

    MB:
    Valentina Arrighetti
    Jenny Barazza
    Lucia Crisanti
    Ilaria Garzaro
    Simona Gioli
    Martina Guiggi
    Federica Stufi

    Liberos:
    Paola Cardullo
    Paola Croce
    Enrica Merlo

but only the list already told ehre is going to be in Montreux

  • Isn't this roster too big? Except for the libero and the middle-blockers, Barbolini can form 4 teams.

The roster is big because it includes also the players that will play at the Universiades and at the Meditteranean Games.

  • i love their talented settes. Fabiana-Thaisa-Carol blocking wall.

  • as i do not watch italian league matches i dont know how fernandinha is playing...i prefer dani for his high but she is very unstable sometimes
    ..

Fernandinha & Ana Tiemi for Montreaux pls.

  • brazilian roster for Montreaux:

setters : ana tieme , dani lins
    middle-blockers : carol gataz,fabiana and thaisa
    liberos: camila brait, fabi
OH : mari, regiane and sassa
    Opp: joycinha, natalia and sheilla

  • No Jacqueline and Fernandinha. Despite that, the roster is still good. I think they joined Montreux to give experience to the younger players.

  • it seems fernanndinha will not join NT anymore...she talked to ze about her physical codition, saying that she need a time to make column reinforcement. Ze offered help to treat her problems in the NT center with him but she declined...

´´this possibility to join the NT probbly would be the first and the only one´´
´´i think there is no future for me in NT´´ she was quoted as saying.

in brazilian forums people are saying that she has not a strong will to play for NT...

  • Where is Paula?

I think this will test the 2 setters, team will rely on the Brazilian block: Carol-Fabiana-Thaisa

as long as Mari, Sheilla & Fabi are playing they'll be okay

Wow, Ana Tiemi is tall for a Brazilian setter, hope Fofao mentors her.

    Is Valeskinha retired?

  • Paula will have knee surgery, it was posted in the Brazilian NT thread.

Valeskinha is retired from the NT but she played in Turkey this season.

  • I believe Jaqueline will join Brazil's NT roster for the Montreux competition. She is not yet in the roster cause she is still playing the Italian League.

I am saying this because from 2009 on, teams are allowed to have 14 players in their rosters, including 2 liberos. As Paula is undergoing a knee-surgery next week and she will take more 6 weeks to completely recover, Jaqueline might be called as soon as the Italian League ends.

José R. Guimarães ought to test other players. He already knows Jaqueline's performances. Montreaux must be a test tournament. Regiane is a joke in this team but if she is in why not testing her?

  • Ana Tiemi is not a good setter to join the team this season. She needs make her game more consistent. She's not even a main setter on her team! I watched some matches of her and... her settings were pathetic. Ana is just tall and this means nothing on setting. She was, is and will be always only a expectation. Nothing more.

  • what a bloody sharpe critic to Ana and Regiane.....but i can only say i totally agree with you....

i may not be the tallest,
    the fastest, or the strongest,
but at least i can do one thing better than anyone else,
    to be me...

  • Here is the "21" chosen by Matlak, for instant for Montreux tournament:

Setters: Izabela Bełcik, Milena Sadurek-Mikołajczyk, Katarzyna Skorupa

Outside hitters: Anna Barańska, Anna Woźniakowska, Dorota Świeniewicz, Aleksandra Jagieło, Klaudia Kaczorowska, Elżbieta Skowrońska, Joanna Mirek

Opposites: Katarzyna Skowrońska-Dolata, Natalia Bamber, Joanna Kaczor

Middle blockers: Agnieszka Bednarek, Eleonora Dziękiewicz, Katarzyna Gajgał, Zuzanna Efimienko, Dorota Pykosz

Liberos: Mariola Zenik, Agata Sawicka, Paulina Maj

    thanks Konrad!!!

  • Team for Montreux is without Paulina Maj, Elżbieta Skowrońska and Joanna Mirek.

  • Wow! Swieniewicks is back! I believe she and Skowronska will cause trouble to Poland's opponents. I would like to see Glinka completing the trio. But I am already used to the fact that there is always a key player missing in the Polish team. They rarely play a competition with their full force. There is always a key players missing. If Makulewicks have not naturalized French, the Polish team could be even stronger.

Anyway, a new cycle starts this year and its time the Polish team tested new players so that they will be ready for both the World Championship and the Olympic Games.
