This team will play for the Pan-American Cup and World Championship Qualifier.

"[size=8]It's years and years of work and sacrifice and dedication. Along with a lot of these girls, we've sweat and we've bled and we've cried together in past Olympics. It just brought tears to my eyes, & I'm more than thrilled. This will be forever." -LOGAN MAILE LEI TOM (Silver Medallist - 2008 Beijing & 2012 London Olympic Games, 2011 World Cup runner up, 2003 & 2007 World Cup 3rd place, 2002 World Champs runner up, 4-time World GrandPrix Champs)

  • Offensively Strong.
    Don't know about the setting..

  • there are lots of missing players. foluke akinradewo, kimberly glass, willoughby, nnamani, mcginnis?

I think we are missing some key players like Glass, Tom, Willoughby, Nnamani to give Mccutcheon a time to evaluate other up and coming players. I am sure he is up for something...like what he did with the men's team who from placing 10th in '06 World Championships..took home the Olympic Gold Medal 2 years later.

I am also expecting that Hugh will favor OHs who also possess amazing defense. (Priddy and Salmon-like)

  • I'm just thinking Scott-Arruda will play as OH like before. Larson is not that good an attacking option for an open hitter but she is really a solid receiver. If they start Larson, then OH2 needs to be dominant in attacking. I'm thinking they will start,

    Metcalf - Joines - Arruda/Larson
    Haneef-Park - Stalls/Harmoto - Spicer

I think it will be unlikely for Scott-Arruda to again play as OH. She had to before because injuries plagued their Outsides. I think Larson will definitely see the court.

  • joanamss, sorry you won't see Tom in Rio. :(

It's not so bad though. This will give american outside hitters the chance to develop and get international reps. I don't want USA to have to rely on Logan Tom to be competitive in major tournaments. This is an exciting time for young outside hiters!!!

I agree... This is the best time for american OHs to gather experience in international games. I adore Mccutcheon's effort in developing younger players...
