  • TVCA lost tonight 0-3 against the second in ranking, Heutink Pollux....19-25 18-25 15-25...On the one side, Pollux played very well in every part of the game, on the other side TVCA had a collective off-day and made a huge amount of (unfiorced) errors. Serve, reception - especially Myrthe Schoot (libero!) - , attack, block...all the same --> very bad.

In my opinion a collective off-day is part of the game, and nothing special for a very young team like TVCA, despite of all the members of NT in the line-up.

It look likes a collective offday, but is this not too simple? It was a great match to see from Pollux, they played superior on every aspect. Serve reception was almost perfect by Pollux and as flyingduchtman refered TVC had a lot of unforced errors.

What was wondering me the most is why Chris Gonzales did not change a thing! All the seven players had an offday and if it is 18-10 in the second set.. change some players?

I saw the whole match yet, and I agree.Pollux was really good.
Had the same question: why not changing some of the players? Could only be better for the team,no matter who was on the field.
A lot of talking ( already done) and up to next week.

  • Thanks for the links Richard!!!

@ Marieke, I'm gonna answer ehre, cause in World Grand Champions Championship was a bit of topic..hehehehe...Yeah, well...I had visited the site before, but had never see a game, I saw I need to download this program, I tried too, but said Could damage my pc, so I was scared..hahahahha....but I think I'll give a try next time!!!!:P

AH..yeah...I think they will broadcast, they usually do...I'll record and put the matches here, so, I hope Mastelveen stays in Unilever group!!!:)

And well, what can I do, we dont choose witch teams to love!!!hehehehehe...I admire the way European teams play always having fun....would be great to live in tehre..hehehe...but...lucky I ahve you friend to tell me the enws in internet!!!!^^

  • @ Joana

Do you admire the European teams more than Brazil 'only' because of the team-spirit --> always having fun ?

    What about skills?

In my opinion the most European, except Italy and maybe Germany, play powervolleyball, almost(!) like the Russians. I personally admire more the Brazilian/Asian style --> technically very well. great defence, speed attacks.

  • No is not only cause of that of course...I do like and prefer the brasilian style of game...I agree with you, I prefer a more tecnique, talented way of playing..in Europe I think Italy, Holland and Germany play like that...and in adition they have that spirit that I really admire...
I used to support Brasil NT years ago, but not lately, cause I dont agree with some atitudes that our coach has...actually I really dont like him at all..I think he is not...lets say very ethic is his behavior, and not very professional with his athlets sometimes.

But I have to agree that when come to support a team, I dont take in consideration only the talent and the tecnique, but most of the time the values that the teams carry with them, and that is why I like the teams and players a like. I mean, I love the sport, itself, so, I love to see values atached to the teams as union, etich, determination, friendship and so on...a consern not only with results, but also with the future of the sport in the country, the development of young players...you see, is not only about the game itself.

Of Course, I admire Brasilian way of playing...and for me we are one of the bests making volley..in general. I do support our male team and beach volley. But this female team in particular, although I know they are very talented, and though I do like a lot of players that play there, since they also play in the team I support here in Brasil, I cant support them when they are in NAtional team, just cause they represent a work that I dont agree with...not cause of the game itself, but for the values atached to it...

In same direction, not supporting Brasil made it easier for me to open my eyes to other teams and players from out of Brasil...ahm..all my life, since 2000 when I started following more foreigner players starting with Piccinini and Chaine Staelens, and then in 2004 starting supporting Italian team Foppapedretti, and then finaly following a lot of european volley, all my experiences with that were fantastic, all players I got to know were very sweet, and for that, it starting building an admiration that just grows every year... ;)

  • Wow I have been so out of touch with Amstelveen. I am very grateful for all the information concerning them here. Thanks!

  • @ Joana

You are absolutely right that supporting a team is about more than just skills; personality and team-spirit is just as important. (we discussed already in PM --> ECH ;))

About skills: you are very kind to the Dutch team compared to Italy and Germany. In my opinion there is a lot of work to do in recpetion, defence, technique.. I don't blame the players for it because it's in a certain way logical because of they are so tall, like Russia. (the Dutch are the tallest people in the world, did you know that? :) )

  • @ M1KV

Are you from Dutch origin/do you have Dutch relatives or 'just' became a fan? :)

Well I am not of Dutch origin or descent. I found this forum one day and started watching a few of the dames matches and I was hooked. :D So you could call it "becoming a fan." I am not a fan of Martinus (now TVC-Amstelveen) because they are good, but because at the time (and they still do now) have a lot of very likeable players, including Avital Selinger (the former head coach).

I like pretty much all the players on the team. Carlijn Jans and Alice Blom were two of my favorites until they left Martinus.

  • I have followed Martinus for a while now, probably a few years. But lately I have been out of touch with how their season is going. I check their website on occasion.
