World Grand Prix 2010

  • Team USA has a GREAT future !!! Hooker, Hodge. Larsson...great talents.. together with Tom, Glass, Haneef, Bown, Berg....I think in OG 2012 they can get the gold medal!!

  • USA is missing 2 great OHs in Tom and K. Glass

Anyway, I'm loving the future of USA with Hooker, Hodge, A. Glass and Akinradewo... :box:

  • Wow, a lot of good calls from the referee!

Alisha Glass did a great job in defence, but her setting skill need to be more accurate, akinradewo, hodge, and hooker need more experience in professional games.I'm a little disappointed about Larson...

    Lloyd + Naz + Wołosz + Hanke + Smutná + Mori
    Bokan + Zakrievskaja + Bricio + Vilponen + Jupïter + A.Lazić + Stepanova + Marković
    Onyejekwe + N.Dimitrova + Crkoňová + de Kruijf + Truškina + Thibeault + Omelčenko + Schauss
    Rourke + Bošković + Fabris + Kajalina + Collar + Simić + Miklai + Vasilantonaki
    Courtois + Venegas + Gaído + Castillo + Gómez + Kiselyova

  • Congrats to Germany.. Kozuch was fair and ssuchke was very good.

Finally Weiss good finished with dump points

"Lo sbaglio più grande e quello di credere di aver vinto prima ancora di giocare la partita"

  • Nicely done, Germany :D Weiss played amazingly well today, it probably is the best game she has had in her volleyball life. She used Schaus several times before the American blockers didn't even realize. also Beier, she did a great job. :D
speaking of American team, Alisha Glass seems to be a great setter. but I hope she'll use the middle more. Bown and Tamas were a bit quiet today.

  • Im my opinion Germany won, because they was much determined. Level of this teams is very similar. Today I first time saw Hooker in action and I'm delighted. She is so talented. Her hits are so strong and dynamic. She will be a great player! :)

    her name is hilarious :D
yeah. she's a really great spiker. tall, long arms, long legs, jumps high, spikes so strong, also serves really well. She and Megan Hodge are gonna be a new twin-tower of the US team :white:

  • Marieke or anyone can you tell me how to launch video on Volleyball.tv?? cus i can't see anything about China-Holland match there(maybe i'm blind or something) or if you have link to this match i would be greatful. :rose:

Anyone can support a team that is winning - it takes no courage. But to
stand behind a team to defend a team when it is down and really needs
you, that takes a lot of courage.

mateo write from sport in your browser and there is this match

  • China 3-1 Netherlands. Congratulations to China!

Congratulations also for Manon Flier --> great match, 32 points :flower: But that's in the same time our problem. We had today - like so many times before - 'only' Flier! I have said it for years..if we don't get new OH/MB we will never(!) win ECH/WCH/OG. It's a joke Huurman is whole match in starting six today!!! :wall:  De Kruijf is better, and 16(!) years younger! Also Chaine Staelens can't make many points anymore against strong teams. Ok, Buijs is not in WGP this year, but she definetely needs a chance in upcoming tournaments. I consider the fact we played today without Stam, Meijners, Visser, K. Staelens, Buijs, but my opinion about Huurman/C. Staelens out and De Kruijf/Buijs in I have mentioned for months now!

Edit: statistics show what I said --> Chaine Staelens 4/22 in attack, Francien Huurman 5/16 in attack.... no words needed :S :S :S
    You are right, Agguerro!

  • 22 point from Wang welcome back to volleyball  Ruki Hui

  • A very good display of volleyball from China (they still have a lot to improve though if they are to contest better teams - like Wei the setter could definitely be quicker in her movement of defence into setting, and use more variety when she is in the front court like she started doing in the third set). After the first set though, Iit looked like the chinese coach hadnt studied the Dutch game well - Flier was just making points uncontested. When they starrted putting pressure on her, Blocking her and defending her, the Dutch showed that apart from Flier (who is amazing by the way :obey: ), there is noone else really. I would like to see Blom playing more - she can do a better job surely than the left handed outside? Blom has more skill I think (for example she can hit off the block, tip the ball etc) but she is simply used for serving! I know that she is short, but the other outside player doesnt block much either!

Very good though from the Dutch. The first set at times reminded me of their 2007 form which saw them take the title - yes even then it was mostly Flier as well! Not a good game from Huurman, they do depend on her to attack, but she was put down too many times by china today. On China's side it was nice to see Wang Yimei back and playing well. Her jump serve is off - but she hasn't played in a while so its to be expected a little bit, but she did well hitting a lot of difficult balls she got, and wasnt just blasting the ball into the block like she started to do last year a lot. The best player for me has got to be Xu Yunli - middle player for China. Yesterday she was AMAZING in attack, but today she was amazing both in attack and blocking! She has matured well - she has been with the national team a long time but hasn't had the chance to play most of the time. Her technique in attack is improving all the time. (btw does anyone know why Xue Ming isnt playing? Is she injured? ). Also the best match I have seen Li Juan playing - I have always said I dont know why she is in the team - but today she justified her position - I still prefer the other young player who replaces her sometimes - to me she is an exciting prospect for the future - she plays that position like Zhou Suhong (who in my opinion really needs to return to the team to improve the passing and defending!!)

Very well said. Libero is another problem, if you look at the statistics....same as last year.

Same changes should have been made during the end of the second set when the two OHs weren't in shape.....

It was Flier's game today. The two OHs only got 3 points in total after the first two sets. I feel like Flier was already tired in the third set ;( Nonetheless, she came back in the fourth. Anyway, Flier was amazing

Salinger gave De Kruijf a chance in today match and she didn't play good  I really don't think that De Kruijf may be better player than Huurman...Ok, she's 35 but it means nothing. I suppose she will play in NT to 2012 Olympic Games so there's no cause to play with De Kruijf only for the reason of her age...

About C.Staelens...I agree that she isn't in great shape and I don't know why Blom didn't play more.. Of course in my opinion she's great player and she needs time to achieve better shape in order to play in starting six on World Championships.

Chaine is old,she is useless now.Maybe what i sad was too much. But it's true.
Huurman is old,she can not block any ball of Wangyimei.
Van Teinen should be out of the NT.She is the most useless.
