  • Bravo! Ziraat Bankası :drink:

Ziraat Bankasi outclasses Maccabi Tel-Aviv of Israel 3-1 away and takes a huge advantage right before the second match of 1st round.

Ziraat Bankasi lost the first set 19-25, however picked up easily and got the remaning sets 25-22, 25-18 and 25-17, match over 3-1 for Ankara staff.

Return match will be played at Ankara on Novermber 24th, at 19.00 local time. If Ziraat wins that match too, will match up with the winner of Hotvolleys VIENNA-Kalo Meh KECSKEMET. A goldet set will be decisive when Israel team wins the second match independent from the score.

The idea was to make teams that take a 3-0 first victory fight and take another win, and not just play for one set and a possible 1-3 defeat enough for qualification. But I totally agree with you, this rule sucks, it will mostly affect equally strong teams and will force them to play a golden set to determine the winner

  • There was the same "golden set" rule 3 or 4 years ago.

    what's happening with Poitiers

Maréchal just got a 3 months suspension, and they only have 2 pro outside hitter left until february. At the same time, Poitiers is facing huge financial problems ( 260 000€ deficit) and hiring a replacement is not to consider. Since Poitiers is going to play almost every 3 days they have to take any opportunity to rest some key players.
Poitiers's first goal is the french championship, not the CEV cup, so Olivier Lecat decided to rest some key players (Kieffer did not play) and give some playtime to young players ( that's why Pinheiro and Rouzier played only half of the game, and Rivera did not play at all).

Officialy the team is not considering to give up CEV cup. But since it's well known that European cup cost more money than you can get out of them, I'm wondering if Poitiers really want to keep playing this competition.

Yes. And I hope it would never come back. I was wrong

3-1, 2-3 (Asse-Lennik has strong team this season, they already kicked Poitiers out of the CEV-cup. Sète are third in French league, but they lost last match and had a tough game with Kharkiv. Maybe they're a litte bit tired. It will be an exciting duel!)

04./05./06. 01.2011 POL Asseco Resovia RZESZOW

    3-0, 1-3

  • In the polish site I read today, that Christian Duennes from Evivo Duren is like cyborg. Why?
    Which player is Michael Olieman?

Kędzierzyn-Koźle will play without Świderski and Zagumny first match.

  • Resovia RZESZÓW crushed Evivo DUEREN 3:0 (25-16,25-16,25-11). Normally Resovia would be already in the next round, but with the golden set rule, Resovia need to win also in Germany. I hope they don't have problems with that...
