They want to turn indoor volleyball into beach volleyball

The Rules - your opinion, suggestion

This is an old rule, right? I mean, they used to have that like 25 years ago if I remember correctly.

They want to turn indoor volleyball into beach volleyball
Can we also set like beach players then? Bringing the ball down to your belly button and then setting (hi Cansu Özbay!)
-
I don't understand, there is so much worth to be tested, and they came up with this out of everything?
-
fans to FIVB: fix accessibility and corruption within the sport
FIVB: well how about we change receiving... that's close enough
-
I see Australia used new system in match:
* 5 sets
* to 18 pts
This is test or will be used in every match ?

18? Why so random?😅 Tbh I'd have longer sets to allow comebacks, tiebreakers already feels like a toss up, I can't imagine having short sets as regular🤦

exactly. 20 would have made more sense

FIVB asked PVF to experiment with rules.
On serve, teams don't have to stand in rotation. They can just be in their designated position. (OH in 4, MB in 3, S/Opp in 2, etc)
(only on serve, not receive)
-
I think I had that rule in my last year of playing amateur volleyball (2020), and as far as I remember it's easier to forget your rotation this way (for newbies tho, not me and I expect pro's to have no problems either
) But I kinda liked it because it saves running time/energy
I'm curious how this rule will be received on high level and if perhaps we will see it implemented in more places later on!

What's the added value of this rule do you think?
By the way this rule already exists in Dutch regional leagues

it may free up the middle of the court (on the service side) for the serve receive team. We all know that teams put all of the players in the middle of the court to move to their preferred defensive positions and teams can also use that to “shield” the server. Some teams would shift the “shield” to one side of the court depending on the service tactic.

They can still do the 'shielding' it is not prevented. So it is not a gain for neither of the teams

Never mind.. looks like they're going to be FIVB wide rule changes.
1. serving team wont be called for rotation faults (they can be in any position)
2. Clarifies that pursuit to the other side of the net/opponents side will only be allowed after the first contract. They cant attempt it after the second contact and the point will be immediately be considered a fault if the ball crosses into opponent territory outside the antenna. (makes sense, that ball cant go over anyways). Also clarifies opponents cannot interfere with the action after the first contact.
3. You can no longer have your arms over your head when your team is serving (as to screen your opponents)
the document is in spanish, i dont have an english one lol

Starting to look more like 9-Ball. Soon players will be able to pass the ball to themselves off the net, and take a mulligan after a service error
