Italy Serie A 2010-11

Hi Everybody !
The ITA league is now half its way: a timely moment to make some considerations supported by some evidence.

( 1) Up to now, Numbers tell this is the most balanced and hard-fought 'campionato' in the decade.

** Pesaro gets the leadership scoring 24 pts. (wins7-Loss 4; average 2,18 pts per match).
** Last year Pesaro led with 25 pts. (wins 8-Loss 3); in 2007-2008 they scored 30 pts. (wins 10-Loss:1).
I do not consider year 2008-09, for the League Serie A was extended to 14 teams (instead of 12) (Anyway, Pesaro 13 wins in a row=37 pts.)
** 24 pts. Is also the lowest score since 2002-03 (Bergamo 24pts): but there were then only 11 teams in serie A(now 12), and Bergamo scored 8 wins- 2losses.
** Until 2008, the serie A leaders (at halfway) used to range btw. 28-30 pts, plus occasional exploits (Novara 2007 pts.33 – 11 wins in a row!). In 2009-10 & 2010-11, the range fell to 25-24 pts.
** For sure, this may be imputed to the crisis and the fled of so many “stars” to foreign leagues;
But ….
(2) There is no hard & unquestionable evidence ITA League has declined in general terms (IMO, you may say it only for this or that team).

** In the last 2 years, 7 teams out of 12 have shown a positive balance btw. wins/losses, while until season 2008 it was more often the opposite: only 5 teams out of 12 showing a positive balance. This narrowing gap among top/bottom teams, IMO, may well be a positive asset, not a liability...

** Il you look abroad, you will notice, for example, that Polish League+ has a wider gap (4 teams have positive balance out of 10); so as the Turkish League (5 teams positive out of 12, at 11th round). This is a fact I would put forward - as a contribute to the debate about the relative strenght of major European leagues (see the Female Champion League forum)
** Opinions and criticisms, as usual, most welcomed.

Signorile should be crazy 40 balls to Vasileva and only 20 balls to Ortolani Very nice performance from Vasileva.Probably Nucu is sharing MVP award with Vasileva 10/12(%83) attacks 5 blocks > 16 points

Arrighetti played also very good, maybe she don't have so many points but she was very effective.

Is Hooker back from her injury? I hope she's alright Forza Pesaro, andiamo ragazze

Bergamo played great!!!Vasileva made some mistakes in end of third set, but out of that, she was amazing, as Bosetti and Nucu!!!!Iuliana made some many blocks!!!Very important to stop Turlea and Gioli...hehehe

And the great news of all.....Leo is back!!!!!!For the first time in season she enter the match!!!!!:) ok, she just played two points, but who cares!!!!!!It is great to have her back!!!:) Now of course, slowly she will recover her shape. BRava Leo!!!Welcome back!

It is great to see her again. She is one of the best setters in the world.
I think she must have some rest this summer..She plays for many years both for NT and Foppa..Some rest would be great for her and in 2012 we would see great Leo in Oliympics.
