2013 European Championship - Germany and Switzerland

  • Serbia's performance (or lack of it) in the semis was a direct consequence of Terzic's bizarre fascination with Gamova. It looks like they all thought "No Gamova - no problem!" and clearly underestimated the Russians. I couldn't believe what they were saying before the match, for a team that's usually rather humble and at times even too modest, their statements were certainly surprising.
And when Russia came out willing to play, they just couldn't fight back. It reminded me of Serbia's ECH '07 against Poland, except that Serbia was on a receiving end this time.

Their post-match statements tell the same story, they're all saying that "they didn't know Russia now plays like this". You're professional players, how can you not know that?! Krsmanovic even said she never watched this Russian team before. :aww: And even more importantly, what was Serbian staff doing? Not to mention that Terzic is coaching in Russian league and is supposed to know all these players... Embarrassing attitude.

Russia plays great volleyball and I really hope they take the title.

  • BRINKER SSUSCHKE played so badly yesterday....luckily BEIER performed well

By the way...i think HIPPE impresses me ...she gains some power this year.... and serves well

  • In 2005 Italy ( Russia ) beat Azerbaijan ( Serbia ) 3-0 and Poland ( Germany ) Russia ( Belgium ) 3-2 in Semis.

Next day Poland beat Italy 3-0.

Russia deserves to win Gold Medal, second Road where plays Germany is mistake.

  • I want to see Anja Brandt tonight

not exactly Poland beat Italy 3-1(I still remember this final game)
3-0 Poland beat Turkey in 2003 (3-2 against Germany and that was one of the best semifinal in history ECH)

  • Netherlands; Flier is 29; Steenbergen is 28; Grothues is 25; Stoltenborg, Bujs and De Kruijf are 22. Youngest one is Knip who is 21 years old. Sloetjes will replace Flier soon and they will be even younger.

Youngest one of Holland is Celeste Plak, 17 years old, getting 18 in oktober this year! She's the future of Holland for 2015

Can you write some of the pre-match statements?

  • Krsmanovic even said she never watched this Russian team before. :aww:

Krsmanovic is the weirdest volleyball player I have ever seen. I remember some talks of her from Azerbaijan too. She is like she doesn't know why she plays volleyball. :white: Not even for the money :white:

It was basically all the same story: everything depends on us and Russia is not what it used to be. They also openly said that they're the better team, which is something VERY out of character for this team - they would play someone like Algeria and claim it's a serious opponent and that they need to play their best. But not this time. They were also very ignorant of this Russian team's style, were unaware of their blockers etc.
The post-match statements tell the whole story. Ognjenovic: "This wasn't the Russia we know, they played so fast". Nikolic: "We never imagined they could play this well."
Well, duh. That's something you should have been counting on. I hope they've learned their lesson now.

  • Too much ignorance too notice, that Russia is the best spiking, receiving and blocking team here  moreover "Sborna" commits the least amount of errors per set ^^

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • I couldn't come here earlier, but....GERMANY :white: :obey: :super:

They played simply terrible for 2 sets and for the first time in the tournament the pressure was visible. But, as usual, the team never gave up and fought back into the match. On the other hand, Belgium really did a great job and I want them to get at least Bronze :!: It was heartbreaking to see them cry after the match.

Today is a completely different story. It won't be so much about which team is better, but who wants it the most. Guidetti said yesterday that against Russia, we will lose 9 of 10 matches and he hopes today will be the 10th. He says he is sure we can beat Russia, but he doesn't know yet how

  • While Russia is in a very good shape now to get the title, Germany is an opponent that should not be underestimated. Their serves are one of their best weapons and it should put to test Russia's reception. and with this tournament having its good share of shocking victories of underdogs over favorites, Russia should remain focused throughout the match and not get too overconfident. (Remember that 3-0 victory of Germany against usa in 2011 World Cup). Hoping for a good fight for the medal with Russia winning it of course :super:

  • Two years ago, Germany had a very easy semifinal against Italy (much like now Russia against Serbia), while Serbia in the other semifinal had a hard fight against Turkey. However, Serbia with the support of their audience managed to win the final.
This year, Russia struggled much more than expected in Universiade final against Brazil student team...

So, there is no "logic" in final matches, everything can happen. NORMALLY, Russia should win...but...we will see :)

Probably the first time i agree with you completly :D germany already made a great success, russia have beaten turkey and serbia 3-0 so they r favourite but that makes german's job easier, i think the pressure of golden medal is more on russians than germans and if russians start struggling germany might have golden medal easier than expected.

    Go germany :super:
