Germany - DVL 2010/11

  • Good news
Recently I heard from Italy that Lena Möllers will probably stay in Germany. The club which was interested (Busto Arsizio) signed another setter from USA.

Ah, so it was Busto!!!hehehehehe ;)

Probably, cause I heard Serena will also stay there, Carli will be the second setter...

  • Patricia Thormann, MVP of the season, renewed her contract in Schwerin for another season (she considered to retire earlier) :)

Rebecca Schäperklaus leaves USC Münster. Apparently there was a conflict between her and the coach, he wanted to let her play MB again because her attack was too weak to play opposite and he says he thinks she is one of the greatest talents since Angelina Grün, but talent alone is not enough :S

  • Schweriner SC announced today the arrival of Teun Buijs as new coach, but there is no mention of Anne Buijs yet ?(

Could you give me a link? I can't see anything on their homepage..

Aboout Anne: Teun and Anne is a package-deal :D Without Anne in Schwerin, Teun would not go there :win:

  • Well, that don´t says anything, if there ain´t no mentioning of Anne, yet. I guess, basically they have agreed on a contract, but there´s maybe a small detail they do not agree on and try to find a compromise. If that is done, i´m sure, there´ll be an official statement.

Suzana Cebic and Ivana Isailovic have renewed their contracts with VfB Suhl for one and two years, respectively. Lucija Cigic will also stay another year.
Claudia Steger and Anika Brinkmann will stay.
    Ivana Ostojic will leave Suhl.
Maja Adam Illic and Birgith Thumm have ended their careers. Thumm, however, agreed to help, if too many players should be injured.

I presume Anne didn't find a possibility to go to Schwerin (for signing) so far, since she is training with NT in Almere, almost every day. Maybe she will sign next weekend, before leaving for Yeltsin Cup..

    Agreed, that´s also possible.

  • Alessandra Jovy-Heusser will leave Vilsbiburg to study International Business Administration at the University at Buffalo.

  • CL-Draw appeared no friend of German teams :(

  • Dutch setter Tess von Piekartz (Pollux) will join her teammate Lonneke Sloetjes to USC Münster

  • USC Münster signed 18 year old setter Tess von Piekartz of Heutink Pollux Oldenzaal as backup for Michaela Jelinkova.
Münster wanted to sign Lucia Kaiser as 2nd setter, but Kaiser signed a contract with Wiesbaden, for she´s sure to get more playing time than she expected Münster to give her. Lucia Kaiser played for SV Lohhof of the 2nd league last season.

USC is now lookin´ for a middle blocker as there are only Andrea Berg and Lea Hildebrandt left on this position.

Libero Stefanie Golla´s contract has not been renewed.
"We have to await our financial development. Middleblock is now our priority", says Jürgen Schulz, Vice President Sports.

  • I know, you don´t like the way she plays, but sometimes i get the feeling you try to make fun out of her, tellin´ everybody how bad a setter she is. That ain´t ok!

I respect your opinion of her playin´ style, but what i wanna know is this: I´m pretty sure, there are other players, be it middleblockers, opposites, outside hitter, or whatever, whose playing styles you also may not like. But you don´t, let´s say, badmouth them. I´m sure you would share your opinion of other player´s style in an objective way, but obvioulsy not when it comes to Lena Möllers. Why is that?
To be honest, i´ve never read a good reason why she´s a bad setter. She´s too tall. That´s not really a reason.
It seems to me, that everytime she only looks at a ball, someone´s gonna post how bad she is.

I ain´t askin´, ´cause i´m a fan of Lena, i don´t even know her really well. What i wanna know is, do you really think it´s fair to obviously make fun out of her, but not of other players whose playing style you don´t like either? And i´m sure there are some...

If that´s you in that pic, then obviously you are a setter yourself. Then you should know about the "likes and dislikes" of other players. One likes to have the ball closer to the net, other attackers like the ball to be played slow in a high arch, others like the ball to be played fast and so on. If you don´t play with the same players for years and always have to get used to "new habits", it ain´t easy for a setter. But that don´t makes him/her a bad player.

No offense meant, Matthias. I respect your opinion, you do know a lot about the german league, other leagues, about the players, but please, think about what i wrote :) Thanks, dude.
